"That depends on what you can help me with." It was surprising hearing someone actually respond to a distress call. Of course, had he known this would've happened he could've patched a call much sooner. Though there's just a silent moment's though before he'd make a further response.
"Cuz I was not expecting things go so as poorly as it did, I had almost wondered if my employer set me up for a minute or two." what didn't help was that, while sure he could use his own power to get through... Whatever those things were that were in his way, he couldn't exactly risk it.
"And honestly, just finding a way 'out' would be the least of my problems had I known this would happen. So uh... Yeah, forgive me for being kinda stuck here."
"I've never seen a merc look so lost. It's not a good look for people who get hired based on reputation." Jill sounds sympathetic. She knows all about employer set-ups, as they are still common today. Too common, in her opinion.
It's only when he points out the Lickers that she notices them. Great. Just great. Not how she wanted to spend her afternoon, but she was not about to leave him in the dust. At the very least, the Lickers are a good distance away. They haven't picked up on this conversation.
"I don't have the equipment required to take them out before getting sliced to ribbons. How good are you at sneaking around?"
She's sure he'll love the idea of strolling past them.
"Hrf!" Godzilla grunts angrily at the kong and slams her tail on the ground as an intimidation display. Its noises are foreign to Godzilla; the tiny kongs never spoke so softly in her presence. Always shouts of terror as they ran, or shouts of anger as they fired their skra. Every fiber of Godzilla's being is telling her to attack the creature, but Mothra's wishes cause her to hesitate. The other kaiju had a kinship with some of these tiny kongs, and would often ask of Godzilla to attempt the same. A low growl rumbles in her throat as her posture slowly de-escalates. She snaps her teeth in frustration, her tail swishing as she considers what to do in this situation.
After a few tense moments, the two beings watching the other for any sign of aggression, Godzilla takes a step back.
"Rrrh. Yyyyy-...Yyy...oo. Wa-at. En." Surprising both of them, Godzilla's new physiology seems to be similar to that of the kong's. Her voice is coarse, rough, as if formed by a creature other than man - but it is undoubtedly an attempt at speech.
"Uh. Right." Jill hadn't heard many B.O.W.s speak before, or even attempt to. "I'm gonna trust you not to attack me while I get this door open. Give me a sec." Jill tentatively places her weapon back in its holster, her eyes carefully watching the creature for a few more seconds.
The fact that Godzilla had taken a step back showed that it had no intention of ripping her a new one, so that was promising.
She kneels in front of the series of locks with her lockpick. She hoped she could open them. They were dented as hell.
Her head snaps in the direction of the voice almost before the words even escape the small kong's lips. Her teeth bared, she adopts an intimidation posture. "Hra!" Her eyes settle on the object in its hands. Godzilla is familiar with these things, the false skra the kongs would use against her. Although ineffective in her original form, it is a show of defiance - the kongs do not accept her reign. "HRAA!" She huffs loudly at the kong, obviously demanding her to lay down her arms.
The only thing keeping Godzilla from using force against the kong is the wishes of her queen, Mothra, who was inexplicably fond of the creatures. Godzilla does not understand her fascination, but the tiny kongs do not represent a real threat to the world - yet. So, for now, Godzilla begrudgingly acquiesces.
All her years of fighting zombies taught her to never lower her weapon when confronted with monsters. She does notice that the creature has intelligence behind its eyes. For some reason, it is choosing not to attack.
Jill doesn't relax quite yet. She just inches forward to approach the door, curiosity taking hold. She points at the door, an obstacle to the both of them. "You want in?"
"Hrf...hrf hrf..."
Godzilla sniffs the air as she paces around the facility. Her tail thumps against the ground in frustration; she smells the sasa, deep underground, but she cannot find a way into the building. "Hraaa!" She roars defiantly and takes a few steps back before tackling the wall with her broad, armored shoulders. She cracks the wall of the building, but it remains stubborn. "Rfaaa!" She huffs in exasperation as she spins around and slams the wall once more with her tail; again, her efforts are in vain. "SKREEEEEEEONK!!" She bellows loudly at the building, echoes reverberating through town. Nothing indicates that she is aware of her visitor as she remains concentrated on the task at hand.
Jill takes a few more steps back as the creature tries to break down the door. Godzilla didn't seem to notice her, so that was good. Jill decides that rather than attacking and becoming a target for a creature whose biology she was completely unfamiliar with, she'd just... try to walk past it. Surely an Umbrella facility would have more than one door.
A casual stroll past the raging monster seems to work. After moving to a safe(?) distance, she realizes that she can't very well let Godzilla run around. She doesn't know the beast's intentions yet. "Oh boy." She braces herself before calling out to it, her weapon still at the ready.
"Hey!" Worst case scenario, she can call for backup.
Jill had finally been able to take on missions on her own again, having finally earned back the trust of the BSAA. Although initially reckless, Jill had gotten back into the swing of fighting B.O.W.s again.
She jumped on an available mission in Kyoto, Japan. Jill had family there, which gave her extra incentive to keep B.O.W.s from running rampant. Unfortunately, despite the difficult years apart, she didn't have time to visit her family yet.
Following a tip, she went directly to an abandoned Umbrella facility on the city's outskirts. She expected the place to be picked clean of all samples and documents after the company's fall.
Jill hadn't been expecting to see a B.O.W. that was roughly 8 and a half feet tall. She cranes her neck up to stare at it, her body immediately going on the defensive. She takes a few steps back, drawing her firearm.
"What the fuck?"
Jill didn't usually go out of her way to interact with mercs. Many mercs were straightforward in their goals: get the job done, get paid, and get the hell out.
However, she learned long ago that there are good eggs among mercs. There was something about this guy that screamed "good egg". It could be those big eyes, the anxious way he held himself, or something else entirely.
The man looks completely lost. He might stand here forever if she doesn't say anything. "Hey, you. You need something?"
