She then hesitates and James teases to continue, leading Miranda to say that James might be more concerned about people talking about what they might do behind closed doors than about what they might actually do. Smilling at each other, James grabs her hand and Miranda leans in to kiss him, jumping into his lap.]

Miranda invites him to see a collection of Egyptian artifacts alone with her, and he states it wouldn’t be a good idea because of how it’d look. Miranda comments that in her experience, “there is an inverse relationship between the degree of one’s happiness and the concern one suffers for what the neightbors think.”, and James questions what would Thomas think. She states that she loves her husband, and that neither of them are bothered by the rumours about her infidelities. Then, she approaches James, getting in his personal space with the pretense of grabbing the cape she took off when she arrived, and tells him that the important question is whether they bother him. After that, they exchange a charged look.]
