Temporal Extortion

"So what will it be?"

The words rang hollow. He was asking me to sacrifice myself. An ultimatum asking for my very life force, else the stars twist and planets malign. I wasn't a savior, nor a martyr. I practiced the black magic just as he, but never thought he'd betray me like this, betray THEM like this.

In a few short moments I had already decided. If I let him do this, thousands of people would fall into famine and decay. Thousands more would riot and run havoc. If I let him do this, he'd have the throne in a stranglehold and the free world would be next. Then he'd slip back into the nether and be reborn on another plane of power. If I was alive, maybe he'd take me with him.

"Go ahead. The move is yours."

Desecration Demon

Those nasty, fleshy runts locked in him a crypt, deep beneath the old rocks that marked the edge of the old land. Centuries of wroth and sallow churned the pit that pushed his black blood through blacker veins, a seething, deep seated hatred for the human-beasts boiling over his macabre breast. He used to consort with their silly, despondent dead, but had long since eaten their bones and defiled their tombs. His last meal was a rat that wandered too far down about half a decade ago. He was hungry, hungry enough to eat the whole damned village.

Dust dripped from his chambers as the old stones above ground quivered. A smile, borne from agony, death, and desecration, split his mouth apart. The first thing he'd eat was the wretched offspring of his captor. Then he'd eat the rest of them.
