Around the end of the 90s he was doing magic tricks with cloaks and flash paper. In a densely wooded area that he knew like the back of his hand, a group of kids were pretending to summon their devil and littering and essentially disrespecting the area. My spouse put on his heavy cloak, grabbed a walking stick he had carved, and took some flash paper, and stomped into the clearing bellowing “GET OUT OF MY WOODS” and setting off the flash paper so it was coming from his hand and slamming the staff into the ground. The kids ran off screaming and he cleaned everything up.

Additionally, to management this doesn't say "this staff member went above and beyond and did the best they could" it says "We can actually run the store with far far fewer people than we do, so we could make even more money".

Also I can't find the article, but did any customers call BK Corp to complain? Did anyone say hey, you've got a franchise out here being run by one person? Did anyone call a worker protection agency (In Ontario we have the WSIB (Workplace Safety and Insurance Board)) and say this store is catastrophically unsafe and I'm concerned that there is only one person working?

Did some shitty news crews hear about this and just, descend upon it to photograph this person doing their absolute best so they could make a feel-good puff piece to run next to an ad about the next heart-attack-on-a-bun that BK is going to launch?

I'm being cynical here I know, but fucked if this kind of shit doesn't make me so fucking mad.

Lots of shit like "praise for the woman busting her ass" and she started a GoFundMe (which I can't find a link for) that has reportedly collected about $26,000 USD as of ~July 18. A few small bits about BK Corp working with the franchisee to "understand what happened". So either someone engaged BK Corp about it or they were alerted about the TikTok. There's also a lot of "nobody wants to work anymore" bullshit (y'know, that sentiment from capitalists that has been making the rounds since the late 1800s). I've not seen anything about anyone engaging a workplace safety organization though. In a lot of the articles I read the woman mentions having a criminal record, which to me doesn't say "bad person" it says "the franchise owner knows they can work this woman like a rented mule and she won't complain", which is an entirely different level of fucking deranged.

This has me deeply disgusted on multiple levels. The franchise owner needs to be dragged behind a car through town and displayed bleeding in stocks at Town Hall. This woman doesn't need praise she needs support either from friends or family or the company she works for or social safety nets. This should've never happened. She should've been allowed to lock up as soon as this happened, and had the social safety nets in place so she wouldn't experience repercussions from the owner. The owner should be investigated for this and charged with worker endangerment. BK should be charged too but they get to hide behind the fact that they only own the brand not the franchise.

Legitimately, this lady needs to contact the state because the store owner and manager definitely violated labor laws, and there are probably some OSHA violations to go along with it. I saw in some other tags and reblogs that she's been fired, so there's also some wrongful termination in there.

Most people would never keep a store open if there's only one person to operate it. Most would just close for the day due to staffing issues. Bottom line is this should never have happened, and this woman should not have felt she needed to run the restaurant by herself only to be scapegoated later.

I pray for her success in the future.

When writing on paper, how do you write the ampersand (&)?

I write the "&" symbol.

I write another symbol to stand in for "&".
