You guys remember how I came here and said my mother was battling with cancer… well, she pulled through the storm. Because of the flooding, my sister and I decided to do some deep cleaning at home — the scent of the water was awful.
Hurricane Melissa swept through on October 28, 2025. And on November 9th, 2025, at around 4:25 a.m., I held my mother’s cold corpse in my arms. I watched the funeral home come for her. I watched them lift her from the bed and just throw her down on the stretcher with a loud bang. It wasn’t supposed to end like that, you know?
With us not having any electricity, I begged my neighbour for a charge. I was going for the power banks and phone around 4 a.m. when my mother said, “Tiana, a lef unu a lef again?” and I said, “No… a mi alone aguh. Shanae deh out inna di hall, so if yuh need anything, just call har.”
She told me, “Okay, come help mi sit up, mi waan refresh miself…” She even saw me chewing gum and asked me for a piece, so I gave it to her. The one little turn I made — just one second I turned my back — and my mother left me. She fucking left when she promised me she’d get better. Why would she lie to me?
So yeah… I’m just here. This is another personal update — but it is well. It is well. Yesterday, my sister and I went to the police station, and can you imagine? There was no report made by the officer who came to check the body for foul play. Just imagine. 🤣 That shit is so messed up.
We still haven’t gotten back any electricity, and our service providers are still working to bring the network back up. In these desolate times, the only Wi-Fi provider that’s working is Starlink. As you know, I use data since my household doesn’t own a Wi-Fi unit.
Even when the data’s working, I still have to write in my notebook because I don’t have electricity to charge my devices. I only visit my neighbour every three days to top things up. So yeah — still no water, no electricity, and no stable network. Banzai, right?
Anyway, I hope y’all are doing well. I’ll be back soon — just wait. I’ll figure something out between rebuilding, funeral preparations, and writing. My mother wouldn’t have wanted me to stop writing, so I won’t. And with my writing being my only source of income, I’ve got to keep going. Once things calm down, I plan to put myself back out there — so yeah, busy bee loading. 🐝
I just pray that God will have mercy on her soul and forgive her for all the sins she committed while she was on earth. As for me — the living have to continue living. But I’ll do my best to keep her memory alive.
Stay safe guys ❤️.
