You asked yourself what you did wrong to deserve this. Jungkook was looking at you apologetically and you tried to hide the disappointment so he wouldnât feel bad about it. It wasnât his fault that heâd be on tour on your fifth anniversary. You gave him a reassuring smile instead, putting your hand on his knee. âItâs okay Jungkook, we can facetime like we usually do when youâre on tour and weâll celebrate it when youâre back.â
That would be almost a month later you thought to yourself bitterly. âBut thatâs not the same like being here with you Y/N!â The frustration was clearly visible on his face and you reached out to gently hold his face. He leaned into your touch and closed his eyes letting out a deep sigh. âI know babe but we have no other choice. Please donât be sad.â It was easier said than done because you werenât happy either. Your anniversaries were something you both held dear and it was like a tradition for you to go out for dinner at your favorite restaurant and take a long walk along the river afterward watching the stars while talking about everything that crossed your minds. Missing that special night with your boyfriend was awful. âI promise to facetime you so we can talk just like we would when weâre at the riverâŠâ You looked at him and smiled at the way he was looking at you with his doe eyes making sure youâre alright. âOf course Kookie.â
You woke up to the sound of your phone ringing. When you looked at it with your eyes still half closed you saw it was a text message from Jungkook.

You couldnât help but blush when you read the message and made your way over to your closet after replying to his text of course. It didnât take long for you to find the little box hidden behind your clothes. He mustâve hidden it there on the day he stayed over before leaving for tour.
There was a little note stuck on top of the box. âNo limit in the sky that I wonât fly for ya.â You shook your head smiling at the cheesy song lyric as you proceeded to open the box. Inside was a golden heart necklace with âJKâ engraved on the front. It was really beautiful and when you tried to put it on you noticed something on the back side. It was the date of your anniversary engraved under the words âI love youâ. You were standing there in front of your closet holding the box in one hand and the necklace in the other with the biggest smile on your face. Quickly you put it on and took a selfie for your boyfriend. Only then you noticed the other note inside the box. âGo to the river at 7 pmâ was everything it said. What were you supposed to do there at night on your own, you thought before placing the box on your bookshelf.
Later that day you were walking along the river trying to call Jungkook for the sixth time in a row with no response. You let out a deep sigh when you heard his voice mail again and put your phone back into your pocket. He promised to facetime but now he wonât even pick up the phone. Was he alright? Did something happen?
You played with the necklace lost in your own thoughts when you suddenly heard a familiar melody far off. The sound got louder with each step you took so you kept walking towards it.

There was a bench on the side of the river and you could see the silhouette of a man sitting there surrounded by many candles.

Jungkook was sitting on the bench with his eyes closed singing the song so passionately it made you stop midway just so you wouldnât interrupt him.
âIt comes to youâŠâ, he finished the last note and opened his eyes to look at you. âI thought you wouldnât come, princess.â You still couldnât believe that he was actually in front of you. It didnât make any sense so you still stood there looking dumbfounded until he stepped towards you and hugged you tightly. You could feel the warmth and his familiar scent as you hugged him back burying your head in his chest. âBut⊠how? I thought- but youâre on- how did you- when did you-â Jungkook chuckled and cupped your face with both hands to make you look into his eyes before he started talking. âY/N donât worry. I asked my manager to take the day off so I could celebrate our anniversary together since we didnât have any concert today. But I have to leave tomorrow morning.â He leaned in and kissed you passionately to remind you that he was, in fact, real and right in front of you. When he pulled back again you could see his bunny smile and the stars reflect in his eyes. âI canât just miss our special day now, can I?â, his hands still on your cheeks you shook your head smiling up at him. âI love you Jeon Jungkookâ, you said and you meant it. He didnât hesitate one second to reply. âI love you too.â
