"What's the worst that could happen?" Brendan had said, taking another sip of his Fruit Punch Hi-C even though it was definitely the worst one and lemonade is way better.
Tabitha lifted the wine bottle to her lips and drank deeply. Sure, she thought, what ever. What could possibly go wrong? Even I, Tabitha, like to talk to my boss.
So that's how she ended up picking up a cell phone, she hoped it was hers, but it was probably Brendan's. How did she even know Maxie's number by heart? The world may never know. Well manicured nails danced across the key pad, pressing each number with growing anticipation.
She held the phone to her ear, listening to the dial tone as how the fucking phone worked did it's thing. On the third ring, Maxie picked up, his voice laden with sleep and confusion. "Who in Arceus's name is calling me at this hour?"
"It is I, Tabitha, Maxie." She said, words slurring together.
"Tabitha? Do you have any idea what time it is?"
She sat for a moment, tears threatening to pour over her eyes. It wasn't until she heard the news, not even a moment later, that Gold had fuckin' owned Will at the indigo league that she decided what to say.
"IT's TIME FOR YOU TO START RESPECTIN ME, THAT'S WHAT ITME IT IS. EVEN I, TABHITHA, DESERVE A LITTLE RESPECT."
Maxie was silent for a moment, but in no time he let out a disgruntled sigh and hung the fuck up.
Tabitha stared at the phone in her hand, mystified and not entirely realising what she had done or what time it really was.
But then she was like, "lol idc" and finished her bottle of wine. "Git gud Maxie."
