You know, someone in the tags of a different post of mine called Hornet an 'eternal dragon loli' and I DO understand where they're coming from, but I actually don't think this is correct. Because the entire thing with those characters is that they're some huge powerful mythical creature that takes the form of a human that looks young/cute/meek, often times intentionally. There's various in universe explanations for it, but that's the general idea.

And that's not Hornet's deal. She wouldn't even qualify as one of those vampires that's eternally stuck as a teenager. Hornet DID grow up at one point, we see her in a much younger form, a 'baby' form. And we can even see her 'grow' again in canon, specifically in weaver queen. If she eats GMS.

Hornet isn't some mythical beast taking the form of a child, and she's not even technically incapable of growth. It's just that growth for her species beyond a certain point seems to require a large amount of power / possibly specifically power from another pale being. And Hornet ultimately despite having access to that power, makes the call that she'd rather remain how she is, she chooses to willingly avoid ascension because it isn't what she wants. That's a different thing to either of the prior options though, it's a case where growth is entirely possible for Hornet, but requires a price she is unwilling to pay.

So I really don't think Hornet is an eternal dragon loli. However, per godseeker mode, Ghost 100% is.

Hornet is the Shadow the Hedgehog of Hollow Knight

- emotionally tortured rival character to more mellow main character who looks similar but more red and pointy - beats the snot out of main character multiple times to prove a point - actually a hero at heart, just really determined to let her fists do the talking always and never show weakness - murder is usually the solution - attacking children also ok - not too keen on godlike monster dad's way of doing things - did get some really sick powers from monster dad though - immortal or at least super long lived - unfortunately forever pocket sized, it seems - eventually got her own game - everyone in the world thinks she's so cool. and they're right
