Overconsumption
The last couple of weeks I've been thinking about how consume media, especially on an app like TikTok that favors short term content. It's easy to scroll and scroll and scroll. You might be engaging with thought provoking ideas but it ends up becoming another video in your watch history. TikTok is entertainment for most of us but if we don't stop and discuss the content of the video we watched it's another thing that will go in one ear and out the other. We have so much information being thrown out at us that it overstimulates our brains(brainrot). It's been so long since I've engaged with media in a meaningful way. Before TikTok I would blog about anything(anime, manga, a movie I enjoyed). I would tweet more than I scrolled twitter, it was my digital journal. Now I struggle with articulating my thoughts out loud. I'm tired of feeling that way. I've been giving in to dopamine hits for so long I need to remember that you can end up doom scroll on any website and that getting rid of the habit(like any addiction) will be hard. It's important to be kind to yourself. I want to strive to create more than I consume. If anyone ends up seeing this post and relates to it, you're not alone.
