When is the best time to visit the Perhentian Islands?
The best time to visit Perhentian Islands is between February till October. Yes most major resorts, villa and hotels would be open on Perhentian Islands. To be on the safe side, you may always reach out to the resort. To prove the point, this video was taken in the month of October and also a local media from ViralCham TV also shot during the same month) when the sun is bright and the crystal clear ocean was welcoming. About Perhentian
The Perhentian Island is known to be a hidden gem, beautiful, and unpolished and well known among the European visitors and lesser known among the locals.
The best way to reach this island is through fly down from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Bharu and from there you can take a boat-ride to the islands from Kuala Besut jetty.
I would recommend staying over at BuBu, Long Beach, Perhentian Kecil, Perhentian Islands. Famous for its pristine white beaches and crystal clear waters amongst the Europeans and lesser known among the locals.
There is something for everyone to experience.
For families they may go for snorkeling together, for the adventurous may go for diving and for the couples they may go for something more romantic, such as having a candlelight dinner or even to go on a boat ride to see the sunset together.
From Long Beach, it’s possible to walk from one end to the other end under 15 minutes.
The island itself is rather small, there are a couple of walks that take you to the other parts of the island for example you can hike up the hill to the Windmill point in about 35 minutes as you go walk directly from behind BuBu Resort.
SNORKELLING - Big Island & Small Island or even the House Reef
The Perhentian Islands offer some of the best snorkelling in Malaysia. All you have to do is grab (or rent from us) a mask, fins and snorkel, walk into the clear blue water, swim a little, and you will have fish, coral and other marine life right below you.
MARINE LIFE
Sea Turtles, wrasse, trigger-fish, whip-rays, barracuda and lots of other large school of snappers and other various fish and an abundance of some coral too. For the exotic ones would be the black tip reef shark, bamboo sharks and whale sharks (if you are lucky).
ISLAND HOPPING
It’s possible to charter Pulau Perhentian/Redang/Lang Tengah from BuBu to experience the uniqueness of each island has to offer nearby from night life.
Just Relaxing

Here are some actions we can do to care for the sea turtles.
1. Do not setup a strong bonfire by the beach 2. Do not use strong lamps as it deters the sea turtles 3. No swimming from 5pm-7am 4. Do not litter the beach nor ocean 5. Do not block the sea turtles when they want to lay their eggs 6. Do not disturb of the sea turtles with any form of threats 7. Do not touch, hold, rub, hug or even climb onto the sea turtles.
