So, either I’m becoming more conservative in mind or I’m just growing tired of bullshit. The other day somebody seriously tried to convince me that the concept of a grammatical gender in the German language is inherently sexist.

It seems I’ll not receive an A in Spanish this term. I’m not heartbroken about it or anything. This is fine.

So, I’m taking an exam today in a subject I anything but excel at and which may very well determine if all my hard work will have been for naught. I’m extremely nervous to the point of nausea. Please keep your fingers crossed for me?

Having spent well over thirty hours in Andromeda, it is high time I summed up my impressions and thoughts in at least some succinct fashion. Firstly, a prominent argument has to be addressed and debunked in this individual case. 

Far be it from me to simply trash this game because it’s popular nowadays to jump on the hate train. Regardless of negative press, it was my intent to give this game an honest chance, which it unfortunately didn’t quite deserve. 

Put simply, there’s just too much insipid content - and not the good kind. In numerous ways, it took me hours to reach some rewarding scene or interaction with certain characters, as the latter is the heart of the series. In my personal opinion, there’s neither atmosphere nor soul to the storyline. Games don’t exist in a vacuum regardless of genre differences, hence my comparing The Witcher to Andromeda at this conjuncture. First off, the facial animations were superb. Never have I seen such detailed, realistic expressions in a video geame before. Everything from how eyebrows furrow or lips thin out - it is incredibly reminiscent of reality. With Andromeda, it just doesn’t match up by any stretch of the imagination. While the defense could be made that graphics aren’t everything, it nonetheless ruins the ride for me when these emotionless faces belonging to key characters expect me to relate or care about their turmoils. 

Additionally, the sheer amount of content doled out in this universe is just too much at times. It’s akin to a storm at sea, with no port in sight for miles.Players surely might attempt to stay over water, but the ship is about to sink. Because it is too overwhelming, too generic, and too packed with elements that ultimately don’t contribute much of anything. I don’t see why I should keep playing a game for sixty bucks that feels like a chore. 

My apologies for the critique, but I don’t think I’ll be finishing Andromeda.

I think I just need to realize that while I managed to pass the exam with a not so great grade, I’m still a good student - or at least one willing to learn. This is not the end of the world, even though it currently feels like that. Even the teacher himself was quite sympathetic when I told him what had happened since I forgot to add an additional sheet of paper which would’ve earned me thirteen points. It happens. Nothing is over yet. 

As a perfectionist, though, a bad grade, while still a passing grade, is nonetheless quite the blow.
