“Damn,” Alexander hissed, checking the company he’d bought stocks in, “That’s the last time I buy stocks because of the initia- whoa!” He stopped himself just in time before he bumped right into someone. He smiled and adjusted his messenger bag, “Sorry about that.”
“Probably do you some good not to be on your phone when walking. Your spacial awareness ain’t great.”Bucky pointed out with a chuckle. “But you’re fine.”

Lydia liked it when things made sense, when she could look at a problem and find a solution eventually, this new problem presented in front of her did not make sense to her and for that she disliked it greatly. Books surrounded her as her frustration continued to build, knocking one of the larger books about quantum theory onto the floor out of anger. “None of this makes sense!” She exclaimed to no one in particular before cradling her head in her hands.
“Should it?” Bucky commented as he spied the titles on the books an eyebrow raising. He was intelligent in his own way but not that book smart, not by a long shot. “Why are you even reading these?” He asked as he helped pick the book that had dropped to the floor up.
This conversation would have ended before it even began if Blair didn’t need the distraction, there was something about this Bucky, the fact that he could keep up- even one up her; it took her mind off the pandemonium going on in it. She pursed her lips and pressed her tongue against the side of her cheek. She couldn’t give in, her stubbornness pulsating through her veins. “First of all, I know I look the part, but don’t ever call me doll, Bucky” she sneered. “Second of all,” she drew a sharp inhale, “I would be offended, if your opinion meant something, but if you’re not enjoying the view too much I’d suggest you get out my way.” She smiled, tossing her dark locks behind her head.
“For someone who doesn’t get offended by opinions, one little nickname sure ruffled your feathers, doll.” He repeated with a little smirk on his lips. “But don’t worry, it wasn’t really the types of dolls you are thinking of that you remind me of.” Again, he stood still. Maybe if it’d been anyone else he would have moved by now he was just making a point. “You do realise how short you are right? I can just look over you. Other than your high pitched complaints, you’re pretty easy to ignore.”
The girl looked up at the figure towering over her 4′10 physique, she had half a mind to launch at him, scream a series of profanities, ask who the hell he thought he was. “Bucky,” she snickered “good thing I don’t have to come up with any insults since your parents did it for me.” She plastered on her usual pout “I’m sure I don’t need to tell you who I am now, you have one more chance to disappear from my field of view”. The girl locked eyes with the man twice her height, daggers of her best death stare aimed at him, “or are you enjoying your little moment of glory? Happy you got my attention?”
Bucky could have informed her that it wasn’t actually his name, rather a nickname his friends had come up with when he was younger but honestly, she didn’t deserve nor warrant an explanation from him. “For someone who clearly thinks they are a smart ass, you’re not really showing any intelligence right now, doll.” Bucky responded evenly, pretty certain that if he remained nonchalant, the idea that she wasn’t getting under his skin would bother her more than him launching into a tirade. “Your attention isn’t something I’d ever seek out, trust me but if you really want to keep giving it to me and that’s how you get your kicks, go for it. You know what you have to do to get me to move, I’ve made it clear enough that even you could get it

Blair was taken aback by the man’s response, she was used to getting her way instantly and here he was- putting up a fight. “I said,” she muttered, “move.” An ocean of insults danced at the tip of her tongue, who is this kid anyway? All her energy was directed towards maintaining composure; not a single tear Blair, she told herself, not one. “Or trust me, you’ll be very sorry. Uh, who are you anyway?” she added, a grimace surfacing on her soft features.
“I heard you the first time.” Bucky interrupted. “What I said was word it better and I’ll be more willing to comply.” There was no way he’d take someone speaking to him like that. Not even a girl. “But I’ll be sorry?” His eyebrow raised and he couldn’t help but laugh a little. “I mean, this interaction is already making me regret meeting you but not for whatever reason you seem to be coming up with in your head.” He shook his head in disbelief. “But the names Bucky.”
“Uh, excuse you” Blair snarked, trying to catch the attention of the figure blocking the gymnasium doorway. “A) you’re a fire hazard B) ex-cu-se you”. The toll of her father’s departure and the chaos of her home was creeping up her throat, she knew that if she allowed herself to stay a minute longer in that room, she would breakdown; and there was just too many people waiting for that to happen.
Bucky felt his irritation spike but he didn’t let it win out. “Really? Good job there isn’t a fire then isn’t there.” A stubbornness making him stay stock still. “If you wanna try that again in a better way maybe you’ll get further.”

“The night is still young,” Flynn teased back when the other smiled and offered for him to grab a drink with the other. Bucky seemed safe to approach. For now. “A drink? You don’t have to tell me twice.”
“I know, that’s what worries me where you are concerned; ample opportunity for you to be yourself.” Though he didn’t mind Flynn as much as he made out. The man in front of him just needed boundaries and Bucky knew how to set them. “I didn’t think I would, what’re you having?”
“Can we just make a silent agreement that you won’t bite my head off tonight?” Flynn asked the other hopefully as he came across him in the sea of people.

“Depends on whether you are as much of an idiot as usual.” Bucky answered, still he offered him a little smile. “Come get a drink.”

“On a night like this anything can happen, those are seen as plain and ordinary can cause the biggest scandal of all. I’ve seen it happen many a time.” She shrugged, smirking at the other to show that she was teasing. A little. “I think I could set aside a dance, as long as you watch where you’re putting those hands.” She pointed at him with a playful warning.
“Well I can assure you that this one will stay in an appropriate place.” Bucky answered. “Can’t promise as much for my other... It has a life of it’s own.” He said waving the prosthetic in good humor.”
“Don’t worry, my journalistic integrity is taking a break for the night so you’re free to say whatever you like and not have it end up in press the next day as some sort of scandal.” Angelica commented, a teasing smile on her face as she took a sip from her drink.
“I didn’t know I had to be concerned about you scandalising anything i say. I’m not exactly your normal victim.” Bucky teased, chuckling as he slunk further down into his chair and sipped on his beer. “How about you dance with me later?”

“Not a problem at all, it’s my job after all. A job I love,” she quickly added. “I wish we had some more wildflowers around, even if just for decoration. I think they would do nicely too,” she muttered quietly, mostly to herself.
“Is it not something you can get in?” Bucky asked when he heard the womans words. “I’m sure they would be bought. Personally I think they are more unique than things like roses.”

“Funny– I’ll give you that,” he sighed, making sure he had everything before getting ready to leave. “See you around then, Bucky.”
“You did walk right into it.” Bucky admitted before he distractedly waved the other off, moving to focus on his work once more.

“You gone?” Bucky suggested, though the tone suggested he didn’t mean that as much as the words implied.

“Not round you it isn’t.” Though he had learned that early on. “You owe me lunch.”
