Me:

I'm Harley, 25, they/them and Ive been raising rabbits for meat and show along with my mom since (at least) 2014!

The blog:

Mostly what I post is pictures and videos of my rabbits, and occasionally chickens and ducks.

These rabbits will be on wire but this does not harm them or cause sore hocks, that is a widely spread myth. In my links there is a FAQ explaining why wire cages aren't bad, plus other answers to commonly asked questions

Please be aware as stated in the description many of my rabbits are destined for meat, however I typically only post pictures of keeper animals. Any rabbits destined for meat are dispatched humanely and quickly, and do not suffer in any way. All of my animals are given quality care; high quality food, fresh water, hay and clean cages regardless if they are breeders, for show or for meat. I don't post any pictures of deceased rabbits/butchering/etc nor talk about it at length.

Lastly, any hate mail will be deleted, and you will be blocked. I won't be bothered to give you a platform by responding to it. That being said, any questions or concerns I can answer of course. Attacks or hate will be ignored and deleted.

well my little toe dip back into vending didn't go super well, but i have applied for a market in the fall and have my eyes on a couple more...unfortunately everything in summer is basically booked up which is a bummer but it also means i will have plenty of time to get skulls cleaned and ready while it's warm.

if you were waiting to see what pelts i have available though, i will be updating the shop again soon! and hopefully figure out the shipping situation that has been plaugeing me :')

i haven't put up the new stuff yet, but i just wanted to let everyone know that the store is back open AND i think i figured the shipping problem out (basically: i tried to save myself some headache and let the shop platform figure out shipping rates on its own but that uh. did not go well)! hopefully it will not charge you exorbitant amounts of money for shipping and require me to refund you for the difference. not that it was a problem on my end, but i know that number was scary and i am just some guy on the internet so why trust me to do what i say i will do. y'know.

anyway, i will be adding a couple more pelts and some SKULLS (ooh) to the shop this week, but in the meantime, the shop is back open with everything i already had available if you happen to want to peruse~

what made you pick the silver fox over the similar champagne d'argent? i am tied between the two, i am planning on getting meat rabbits by this autumn

weelll, my mom picked out the silver fox, lol. But I fell in love right away. They are unique in their fur type stands up when stroked backwards, and makes for a nice pelt if you are interested in that, plus its just nice to pet haha. I'm not sure about champagnes's personalities, but my foxes are great mothers and all have pretty chill personalities (which is part of why i personally avoid ones that have new zealand bred in like the plague and will Not tolerate mean silver foxes or mean rabbits in general). I may be biased but I also like the degree of silvering more than the more heavy silvering of the champagnes. They are like a starry night sky <3 If it matters to you, they are considered a heritage breed, the third breed (after the American and American Chinchilla) to be developed in the U.S., in 1929. They recently got off of the livestock conservatory's rare breed list, which, about time lol. (but tbf they only go by registered rabbit numbers... so if you don't register them with the ARBA, they're not counted). As a side note I will say I am sadly disenchanted with the silver fox breed club though, and just have my own little group of silver fox friends I show with. One reason is that I do Not support breeding in new zealands (for meat, its fine of course!! but not for show) for many reasons which are too much to get into in an ask 😭, while most of the new club members/officers/etc... do. Which would be fine in theory, but its like.. they act like its its the Only way to do it. Which just isn't true, I've won two best in shows with mine and have had three grand champions. SF do not have the same level of development as new zealands, maybe they never will, but thats ok! let them be their own unique breed pls pls.

hi! I am interested in getting into meat rabbits! I am graduating with a degree in large animal science with a specialization in livestock soon, and with that I am moving back home away from my wonderful campus farm. This means I will no longer have livestock I am taking care of daily and that is simply horrific to think about. Due to the small amount of space I have back home I was wanting to look into rabbit farming! do you have any tips for beginners or sources I should look into? thank you!

i've been trying to avoid fundraising due to the State of Things, but we were banking on grants that did not come through, so it's time i ask for help

We are Ren and Dimitri, the two people behind Uphill Farmers , a micro-farm focusing on pre… Ren W needs your support for Secure Our Regener

after repeated displacement from leased properties, we've finally been offered a forever farm opportunity... we just need to get it set up. our current landlord wants us out ASAP, citing that we are "too poor to farm [there]," since he wants an agritourism-focused operation and we're more about practicality over looks. we raise endangered, high-welfare heritage animals - some of the only people doing so in our area - and donate the majority of the food products we produce. we aren't really profit motivated - we want to proliferate high-welfare animals and educate on the need for regenerative farming and humane animal practices. additionally, in our time as farmers, we have raised nearly $300k for another farmer in the community, held food bank fundraisers, and used what little we have at our disposal to support our community regardless of how little we have ourselves. to keep doing this work, we need to be on solid ground with land access that won't be taken away from us at a moment's notice. these fund are to help us build housing and fencing for the animals so we can get them moved over securely and safely. thank you
