Could he? The soldier was doubtful his memories could be fully recovered. They had been stripped away, layer by layer, in a painful agonizing way. He still woke up screaming with nightmares about those memory wipes. But Steve looked so hopeful …he had to at least try. For him.
He opened his mouth to say something more, but then his stomach growled again, reminding him why he had come to the table in the first place. Food hadn’t been exactly common during his days on the run.
Steve chuckled as he heard the stomach growl. It was unexpected, different from the mood the conversation had. He smiled at his friend, so happy to finally found him. After all this time. “Come with me,” he asked. “I’ll get us some pizza and we can talk. Or if you prefer, maybe watch a movie? I haven’t watched How to train your dragon yet.”
He nodded. “Can we . . .talk? Theres . . .so much I want to know.” Maybe it was impossible to become the man he once was, but he could learn everything he can about who he used to be.
