When your friend tells you they're not going back to camp
This is a hard thing, but if you work at camp long enough (like more than one summer) it's going to happen to you. Some people say this every year (me), some people say it once and mean it. It's a reminder of how precious every moment of each summer is, because things will always be changing.

This is the part where you make your interviewer understand that a job at camp is the REALEST job. We don’t just work on a team- we literally live with our coworkers 24/7. We don’t just need to interact with people- we have to have impeccable communication skills with people of all ages, including angry parents and screaming 6 year olds. We manage stress like nobody’s business and have the patience of 1000 preschool teachers. We teach, we clean, we counsel, we mediate, we walk/hike/bike/play and do it all in 100+ degree weather with smiles on our faces. Your camp skills relate in all aspects of life- sell yourselves kids!

The times they are a-changin'
First off all, our apologies for our after camp hiatus. Secondly, we've got some big news at buddycheck. Our beloved camp home is redesigning how it works, and what we once knew as a masterpiece will now turn into a mosaic masterpiece in the works.
Not going to lie, both of us (H&C) were pretty shocked when we heard of the news, and are still pretty bummed about it. We came from a camp that had subtle changes every year, but nothing like this. For those of you who are curious, basically our camp is collaborating with our sister resident camp, and we're going to be splitting the summer between the two camps, with just one staff. Our powers that be are ridding of many of the beloved specialty programs of our camp, and with half of the summer gone, they are cutting the counselor-in-training program that both of us hold very near and dear to our heart in half. It's heartbreaking, but we're learning how to deal.
What we ask of our followers is this: Have you had to deal with large changes at your summer camp? How did you deal with this? We're looking for some answers, we would sincerely love to hear from you all, and get some sort of advice. We'll also post them so people can see the answers if they too are going through changes. Hey! So we just want to let you know that as much as we would love/loved being facebook friends with you all, we didn't realize that personnel policy states to have no communication until our contract is over. We were going from what we remember from last year, so unfortunately, we will re-friend you all on August 2nd or 3rd! **PLEASE PLEASE PASS THE MESSAGE ALONG!!!** we don't want any hurt feelings!
