Techno has been treated as nothing more than a monster and a weapon his whole life. He wants nothing more than to be treated like a person, to find his place in the world and be happy. To settle down and adopt a bunch of pets, to farm potatoes and read old dusty books in his spare time.
But instead he is forced time and time again into war, his past actions never forgotten despite him having changed (so many times over the thousands of years he's lived, has he been asked to fight in wars caused by humanity, only to be hated by them afterwards for daring to take up arms against them). He is betrayed and attacked, and people try to kill him over and over and over again. And he knows they will not stop until they deliver the final blow and his heart stops beating.
He thinks maybe it's not worth it to fight anymore, maybe he should let the people have their justice and execute him. It would be easier for everyone, probably. He's the monster told about in prophecies that exist so heroes come forward to slay him. That's his role in this story, after all.
But then, he thinks about golden feathers that sparkle in the sunlight, of soft blue eyes filled with mischievous and that stupid striped green hat on top of a head of long blond hair. He thinks of sweet smiles and rough laughter, of a strong presence beside him and a soft "Hey, mate."
He thinks of a red cloak, handmade with care and fit just for him, by the same callused hands that hold his own when no one else is around. Of soft touches, a gentle hand on his shoulder here, or a being wrapped in the warm embrace of the person he loves.
He thinks of kisses exchanged in the dead of night, when all is quiet. The desperate messy ones, when they've been apart for too long and need to reassure themselves the other is alive. The soft and lazy kisses exchanged in the mornings after a rough night together, of his lover's soft giggles as Techno's beard scratches his face. He thinks of countless nights they've spent together, the trust and love between them, to allow the other to strip them of their clothes. To see all their scars and flaws, laid bare to the other. Of how they'll hold each other, skin against skin, and how complete Techno will feel.
He thinks about Phil, his best friend, his mate, his lover, his sun and stars, his Patroclus - his everything. The first person who ever saw Techno as something other than a monster, who has been with Techno for countless years and has loved him for hundreds of those years.
He thinks all of this as he writes his will.
"Phil, I'm glad I met you in this life."
Because for Phil....for him, Techno would give the world.
