After Eitziim and Arthur were moved to a stronghold East of the battlefront, Gage sent a final message to Fort Isaac, telling of his comrades’ capture. Under commander Isaac’s orders, Xavier the mutant and Staackt the half-orc were recruited to rescue the sorry pair. Greyghast the enchanter equipped each of them with a fly spell and a featherfall spell, instructing them to paratroop in behind the enemy lines. However, due to arcane inexperience, when the fly spell expired, Staackt failed to deploy the second scroll and nearly plummeted to his death but was barely saved by Xavier’s quick reflexes. Once on the ground the pair began slaughtering orcs and rushing towards the inquisition chamber inside the stronghold. Inside, Phillip Jones the fugitive and his two hobgoblin cronies had been disembowelling the druids, and dripping molten stone onto their flesh, attempting to extract intel regarding the Crown’s plans. Tortured and traumatized, the two waited for an opportunity to escape and successfully used a cadaver’s broken rib to remove the neckbraces that were disrupting their nature magic. Once free, they melded into their beast forms. In fury and vengeance, the wolf and lion began wreaking havoc, ravaging the two hobgoblins! Jones saw the writing on the wall and absconded through a hatch in the floor. By this point the rescue team had arrived and another prisoner, Nebby, had successfully been released. However, the orcs had somehow learned of the attack and began flooding in from the rear. Left with no choice, the group followed after Jones down the hatch. Below they found themselves in a sandy pit, where Jones was waiting to release a giant cave bird with hooked claws to attack them. Luckily, the group skirted around the massive fowl, dodging its violent strikes and locked themselves safely behind a portcullis at the pit’s far end.
