First read of the year and it’s a big one. 1000 Design Classics is a 2022 large-format work fashioned after the original 2006 iconic three-volume collection that has become a staple in design archives. I was very excited when this came out a few months back and finally picked it up this week in a sale at my local bookshop.

29.11 // woo it's been a while since i've posted anything !!! my excuse is that i've had a rough month or two. tldr; got a concussion in early october, got the flu which overlapped with the concussion briefly, got a cold, and now i have post-concussion headaches and i am still sniffly with an extra side of joint pain as a result of rainy weather :"( the only thing keeping me going anymore is that i have winter break in 4 weeks. i can last that long, right..?
i have a bunch of make up work to do as a result of my various health issues, but i've been slowly getting through it all !! i've been drawing graphs for econ so often i swear i could do it in my sleep, and i'm still annotating readings for english.
also don't remember if i brought this up, but i got bored a few months ago and decided to start vlogging? so that's l!nked at the bottom too :)

overthinking, people pleasing and unclear boundaries - 2023 is our communication era
dehydration and constantly going without rest - get a glass of water and touch some grass
negativity - everyday may not be good, but there’s a little good in every day
brighter days are coming
let yourself be a cliche if it makes you happy. go to coffee shops and order something with too many syllables. cry yourself to sleep sometimes. kiss in the rain. draw on your arms. write bad poetry. write better poetry. fill notebooks with your crushes and hopes and yearnings. feel everything for the first time.
mental illness made me so desperate for joy that i forgot it was this simple… feeling the ocean against your skin… a really good guitar riff… sun on your back… holding the door for a stranger… a cold shower on a hot day…….. the world is like a cradle and i am just a little baby. eyes wide open there is so much to see
i spend my days waiting. waiting for the water to boil and my tea to be ready. for spring to come back. for more daylight. the oil in the pan to heat up. a “hey i miss you” or “can you help me out for a second?” or “you want to hang out?” text. for my phone to finish charging. for good news. flowers on the table. the next hug. “hey, you got the job!”. waiting for the sun. to set. to rise. to see both. for summer to be around the corner. a good song. a falling star. a text back. i spend my time waiting to be remembered. i spend my time repeating that tomorrow will be better. tomorrow will be better. i spend my days waiting and waiting and waiting. i spend my days waiting unbearably.
When Richard Siken said "someone has to leave first. This is a very old story. There is no other version of this story." I felt this terribly in my bones.
