Thinking about Liu Qingge taking little cat naps in meadows on sunny days…. He has bursts of energy but Liu Qingge actually naps quite a bit. His disciples know that waking him up is a recipe to having every finger broken at once, so they leave Shizun in peace for the most part. Sometimes the bolder ones will try and nap in the same field. On nigh hunts Liu Qingge will nap on horseback when Diandian has a long straight road to follow. She knows to wake him up when it’s necessary.

There’s been a few occasions of Liu Qingge falling asleep during peak lord meetings on the rare occasions he attends. Usually Yue Qingyuan carefully carries him back to Bai Zhan at the end, but sometimes Shen Jiu dumps tea on him to wake him up. Shen Yuan wakes him up really sweetly and makes everyone else feel like they shouldn’t be witnessing such an intimate moment.

Shen Yuan was very unhappy, and it wasn't just because he was the property of the scum villain™. His living conditions were terrible. Apparently Shen Qingqiu didn't deem him worthy of needing a new enclosure or whatever, because it'd been a good week and not once has he left that cramped cage.

Shen Qingqiu wasn't here at the moment though, and Shen Yuan boldness was ticking up slowly as he paced around his enclosure.

This sucks, doesn't this guy know how to treat ANY living creatures right??!

Shen Yuan thought bitterly, cleaning his front legs again. He cleaned it for a while before he paused and stomped all of his feet.

What the hell am I cleaning?! I haven't been allowed to roam, much less get dirty doing it!!

The spider instead decided to focus on chewing through the web he'd made yesterday, planning to rebuild it the same way he'd been doing these past few days. With resentment on his mind while he build, Shen Yuan ever so graciously left a nasty message in the weaving of his web.

A crudely webbed "Fuck you" was now scrawled across his web. It was in english of course, he wasn't stupid enough to curse the scum villain™ in a language that he could understand.

With his grievances just barely settled, Shen Yuan tucked his legs beneath him and glared at the door. There was nothing new to see, Shen Yuan had already looked at his surroundings 6 times over. There was literally no place in this room that he hadn't already seen.

With a glance at the red netting that surrounded his cage, Shen Yuan faintly wondered if he could just break through it.

"Of course we can."

Shen Yuan jolted, looking around for the voice that just spoke to him. He rose up on its back legs, his pedipalps raising threateningly as he whipped around.

"Stop doing that, we look stupid."

Shen Yuan paused, lowering himself slightly as he stomped his feet on the ground. He stuffed his front leg into his mouth again, cleaning it again as he questioned this mysterious voice.

I'm you, isn't it obvious?

"No, I'M me. Do I look stupid enough to believe a disembodied voice that randomly claims I can do something? What, are you going to offer me 'Ultimate power' if I follow your directions?"

"What a paranoid guy, if I was here for that I certainly wouldn't choose YOU, you don't even know how to control your own body! Do you get off stroking your own ego? You're not some protagonist."

If Shen Yuan had a face that could make expressions he would've had a flush that stretched all the way to the back of his nape. Instead, the keyboard warrior settled for cursing the voice out in his head.

"Did you kiss your mother with that mouth?! Better yet, did your mom drop you in your last life?! I just said I'm you, you're cursing at yourself here! Are you too dumb to understand that?! "

Shen Yuan and the voice went back and forth for a bit, arguing with and cursing at eachother like they were elementary schoolers that had just discovered curse words.

"Wait you distracted me! I am you! To be specific, I am your instincts! When you took my body over, you didn't even do it right."

"What? What does that..?"

"Don't ask stupid questions, you're already irritating me. Is this how you felt when reading Airplane's wife plots? Ah whatever, that's not why I'm here. I'm here because you fused with me when you transmigrated."

"What, so you're going to be my guide?"

"No, who would want to guide you? I'm what you already know, you just don't know that you know. Well, I'm what our body knows. I inherited a bit of your personality and as much as I don't like you, I instinctively want to help you."

"Got it, so I'm a spider with D.I.D now. Great."

"We'll fuse and I'll disappear if you're competent enough. Anyways, you mentioned breaking through the red silk--"

"That's silk? Like spider silk?"

"Don't interrupt me. Gods you're so annoying, couldn't I have gotten stuck with someone better... Yes we can break through the netting, it's not like we're a normal spider. One claw is enough to get through this flimsy cage! If it were just me in here I'd have already bitten that scummy bastard to death."

Shen Yuan nodded in agreement, deciding to ignore the jab aimed at him. He switched to cleaning his other leg as he assessed the situation. Basically, the ex-owner of the body merged with him. Except they didn't merge fully and now SY has to explore his newfound abilities on his own. Great, now he had an annoying roommate in his head.

"It's not like I'll be active constantly. I'll only be here when you have questions about us."

Shen Yuan internally questioned why the hell his "Instinct" was so sassy. He wasn't--Okay, yes. Yes he was that sassy. He'd been spending the past few days cursing at the scum villain™ knowing that Shen Qingqiu didn't understand him. If there was anything he was, it was a hater, and clearly his instinct was too.

Well, he wasn't going to get a headache over it. Right now he decided to get out of the cage, now that he knew that he could. Shen Yuan raised his front legs up and dragged his itty bitty claws along the silk. To his surprise it tore apart easily beneath his foot.

With a hyped up tap of his feet, Shen Yuan darted out of his cage. Now that he was out, he took the time to run around. He'd only seen the room from his cage, he had yet to explore at all. So Shen Yuan crawled EVERYWHERE. Leaving webs as he went.

His piled up annoyance from the past few days fueled his petty actions as he gleefully left webs everywhere he knew the scum villain wouldn't like. He was so worked up that he didn't even care that the scum villain™ would probably kill him for this.

In fact, Shen Yuan was so lost in the moment that he didn't notice when the door opened. He also barely noticed Shen Qingqiu shimmying needles from his sleeve and aiming them at him with rage burning in his eyes.

"You impudent demon!"

Shen Qingqiu hissed out through gritted teeth as he tossed the first needle at the spider. It missed by a hair's length, and Shen Yuan finally took notice of the scum villain™ standing in the doorway.

"Okay I know I said that I'd only appear when you had questions, but as your body's instincts, I suggest you run. We're just a baby, we'll die if we go up against an experienced cultivator right now!"

Shen Yuan couldn't have agreed more, which is exactly why he bolted out of the room with a surprising burst of speed, right beneath Shen Qingqiu's robes and out of the hut. Shen Yuan just wasn't expecting to see Shang Qinghua and the Peak Lord of the beast taming peak standing there. It was clear that they were here to check up on him.

"Fuck."

Whew, that was a lot. Shen Yuan may not have a system, but he's still going to have someone annoying in his head!!

PL SQQ who was cursed (in some way, can’t decide if he’s asleep or something else) so the other PLs are looking for someone to heal him and then they meet witch duo SY & XF who are a bunch of fuckasses just doing shit and the PLs are constantly teetering between “They can help” and “They’re incompetent”

They keep wandering around so they’re kinda hard to stumble upon

XF & SY arguing so SY turns him into a hamster

XF reversing the spell and turning SY into a cat, only for SY to reverse the spell and start chasing XF around with his wand

LQG: they must be good at breaking curses! Let me go ask MQF about the nature of the curse

SY: oh, I have a spell book that has a spell on automatically finding things but I can’t remember where I put it.

And it’s so funny because things like this keep happening until SY and XF finally are brought to see SQQ and they’re like “oh this is child’s play” and immediately dispelling it except they send it back to its sender (HHP) and accidentally declared war on HHP somehow and now kinda reside on CQM while the sect figures out how to go about it

Forest fae Shen Jiu who was tricked into giving his name as a child and getting enslaved by Qiu Jianluo. It’s miserable and he can’t raise his hand to any of the mansion staff in relation because they have his name.

Yue Qi is also a spirit of some kind and when he goes to CQMS he not only soul bonds with the sword but he gets trapped inside of it while his body reforms itself (when his soul was bonded his body was like charred and his magical spirit ways allowed him to heal from that by recuperating in the sword)

So Shen Jiu has like no chance of escaping until one winter while the snow faes are about, a noble family of snow faes are invited to the manor. They are there because the Qiu manor wants to negotiate lower snowfall on their territory to sustain their livelihood through the winter.

While the nobles and the adult snow faes are having their meeting, a young snow fae about 14—one year younger than Shen Jiu—takes the opportunity to wander around the mansion. Each step of his leaves soft trails of snow in the shape of paw prints (Each fae has corresponding animal features to their elements). The snow fae finds his way to the library, peeking inside with the eyes of a critic.

He finds Qiu Haitang there, dragging Shen Jiu along as she insists on showing him her favorite stories. Shen Jiu looks up right as Shen Yuan peeks in, making eye contact with the other. A sort of understanding passes between them. Shen Jiu doesn’t want to be there, and Shen Yuan is in a position where he can probably get Shen Jiu out of there. (In this au Faes have an almost extreme sense of kinship—especially when they’re young. So helping one another out is natural, especially if one or both parties are children… Plus Shen Yuan is strictly anti-child abuse, why wouldn’t he help a child in need?)

So Shen Yuan enters the library and makes small talk. Qiu Haitang is intrigued by his white hair and is very curious about Shen Yuan. She’s been sheltered so this is her first time seeing another fae outside of Shen Jiu. Naturally she’s been taught to be wary of fae and not give out any names to them but she gets a bit excited and forgets that rule because Shen Jiu’s the only one she’s had to keep her guard up around. So when she’s introducing herself and Shen Yuan says “I see, and may I have the name of the boy beside you as well?” she just blurts it out.

She doesn’t realize what she’s done until Shen Yuan’s leaving and he grabs Shen Jiu’s hand to take him with him. She’s like “What are you doing?” And Shen Yuan just looks at her with feigned curiosity and says “You gave me his name, didn’t you?”

Something something .... Shen Yuan's parents aren't exactly surprised when their son comes in, dragging a malnourished fae child after him. He does have a habit of picking up strays.

Qiu Jianluo, however, isn't happy in the slightest. But there's nothing he can do, not after the parents of that little brat almost refused their deal when he asked for his sla- fae back. Not slave. Had he said slave, the deal would surely be undone.

But Shen Yuan isnt stupid. He's set to inherit the family title some day and he's a fae. The fae are cunning. So, through trickery, he gets QJL to admit that he's enslaved Shen Jiu. Cue: the worst winter the Qiu Household has ever experienced.

"It's to keep them warm" forest fae SJ says. "They're cold" he says as the fire spreads.

Giggles giggles X3 this makes me want to write how the fire happens. especially because you said the scene is important to you >:]

"You want to give them a parting gift?" Shen Yuan spoke, curiosity seeping into that youthful voice as he eyed the older fae that crouched close to the ground. They were currently on a hill getting ready to leave the town behind and find a place to nurture the clearly malnourished fae that Shen Yuan had acquired. The view from there was amazing, stretching across nearly the entire area—granting quite the view of the manor that Shen Jiu hailed from. "Did you like being there?"

Shen Jiu had sentiments for the ones that had enslaved him? This was new and rather.. stupid.. on Shen Jiu's part. Maybe being locked up had given him some sort of stockholm syndrome.

Shen Yuan didn't even have a chance to voice his concerns when Shen Jiu looked up and shot him a nasty glare.

"You wouldn't understand." Shen Jiu snapped before turning back to face the vibrant red flower quivering at his feet. It was a surprise how the thing even managed to grow in this harsh wintery environment.

"This is apart of my revenge." Shen Jiu muttered as he rubbed the petals of the flower, squinting his eyes at the hoarse texture. "Are you sure you want to do this?" He spoke to the flower, those usually sharp eyes unusually soft (which wasn't that soft in retrospect) as he spoke to the plants before him.

Shen Yuan just watched, half parts curious and the other half having enough emotional intelligence to know when to give someone a bit of alone time. The flower beneath Shen Jiu’s fingers just shook, tiny leaves rubbing up against his hand. These were widely known as blaze blossoms—the name originating from the fact that when they bloom they become a vibrant, fiery, red color. After blossom they become dry and brittle enough to start a fire by rubbing their leaves together a few times. (They’re easy to take care of as long as they’re soaked in water, so nobles usually enjoy collecting them after taking the appropriate safety measures)

The Blaze Blossom spread its petals at Shen Jiu as if worshipping the fae as if he were the sun. Shen Jiu just snorted, muttering something under his breath and flicking the flowering bud with a finger. The flower seemed to nuzzle against his fingers, its body relaxing as if it was sighing before it began withering at a speed visible to the naked eye. In it's place were dozens of plump little seeds.

Shen Jiu looked at the seeds for a moment before he scooped them up—dirt and all—and cradled them close, giving them his blessing. Then he raised his hands high in the air, speaking in an earthy tongue as he whispered to the birds that flew freely in the sky and waited for them to heed his call. It didn't take long, many birds of different kinds flocked to his hands snapping up whatever seed they could before flocking together to fly in one specific direction.

Watching them fly away, Shen Yuan found himself inclined to return to the boy now that whatever he was doing seemed to be done. He stood a few steps away from the other fae, trying to figure out what exactly the other had done.

Shen Jiu turned to eye Shen Yuan, meeting the gaze of the fae that'd saved him. Well, Shen Jiu supposed explaining things wouldn't hurt.

"Just giving them a bit of warmth for this winter."

Like clockwork, once the birds had passed overhead the manor, many patches of flowers began to bloom and blossom, spreading like wildfire all across the garden. It made for a beautiful sight, but Shen Yuan didn't quite understand why Shen Jiu had done this (He doesn't know enough non-winter flora, if he knew what Blaze Blossoms were he would've understood right away lol). Why leave a gift for your tormentors? Just when he was about to sneak a glance at Shen Jiu the garden burst into flames. It was hard to see where it started from, the two were much too far away to tell. All that was known was that the other patches of flowers quickly caught flame as well—soon engulfing the manor in hungry fire that carried a fleeting of rage and a growing feeling of acceptance. This, was Shen Jiu's closure.

Falling asleep though... SY getting reincarnated as a siren (because he choked to death) and SQH getting reborn as an electric eel merman (Because he was electrocuted to death)...(But just so you know I think he'd actually be an octopus mermaid).

SQH's super jealous, like so what if he's an eel Merman. He's not a siren, and sirens were the true rulers of the sea. SY is also a little jealous and wants the ability to electrocute but he shrugs it off because sirens are so cool.

Anyways so blah blah they're enjoying life not bound to systems or plots until the originals come round while on a mission. Suddenly SQH considers murder as he hides behind SY.

Falling asleep so what happens in the cooperate, are so useful that SQQ turns SY and SQH into info breakers etc. goodnight omm I'll fix this tomorrow

I was cooking even when asleep alright let's go.

CONTINUING FROM WHERE IT SAYS ANYWAYS SO BLAH BLAH.

So they are very much enjoying life free of restrictions and not being bound to systems. It's mostly peaceful save for the occasional cultivator or two coming to try and kill them for their materials.

At first they were put off from eating like... Humans or things that look like humans... But they had overindulged in fish and the balance of the ecosystem and yeah... It just kinda happened and they took a huge mental blow blow but yeah. They were relieved to find that it was not a human, and instead a demon. (They later subtly decide to add demons to the menus because they taste... REALLY good... And sirens/mermay can eat literally anything, their stomachs are made out of steel.)

Anyways so SQQ and OG!SQH get sent out to hunt some really powerful demon, and along the way they hear rumors of mermaids in [insert random lake]. Somehow they end up at the lake looking for clues and they meet SY by pure chance.

OG!SQH: "Shixiong, The demon supposedly had the accursed amulet of corrosion on it's person. That amulet is something we absolutely cannot let fall into the wrong hands."

SQQ: glares at OG!SQH because he knows that already and OG!SQH better not treat him like he's a stupid Bai Zhan brute that needs to be walked step by step.

The ever so helpful SY wondering why the amulet that the demon guy they ate two days was making him shed more scales than usual (It was weakening his scales and making them fall off prematurely.): This amulet you cultivators are talking about, it would not happen to be... This?

SQQ'S hand flies to his blade, and Shang Qinghua enters a fighting position slightly behind him. Shang Qinghua darts forward to yank SY back right as Xiu Ya slips past Shen Yuan's throat.

(WILL BE CONTINUED WHEN I GET HOME, I AM FEEDING Y'ALL MORE CRUMBS. Also I think that the ship between Og SQH and SQH should be called Rat² because they are both rats and I think rat to the power of two/rat squared is funny)

“Have you ever eaten a human?”

Mu Qingfang asked, messing around with Shen Yuan’s hand. The claws of his hand seemed to extend when he flexed his fingers, similar to a cat in functionality but different in useage. While a cat’s claws are primarily for climbing, Shen Yuan’s claws were jagged at the end, most likely to tear enemies and prey apart.

“No? And what does this have to do with my claws?”

Shen Yuan spoke as Mu Qingfang squeezed a joint on his finger, watching the healer extend and retract his claws with the help of his anatomy.

“What are your claws for? I assumed that they were for climbing due to how similar they are to the claws of a feline, but these jagged edges hint at a more combat oriented focus, no?”

Shen Yuan pulled one of his hands away, squinting at his own claws in inspection.

“They are mostly used for scaling the sides of steep volcanoes and transversing volcanic terrain but… Since I came to the human realm I guess I haven’t really been taking care of them.”

Shen Yuan rubbed his nails together, grinding away at the jagged edges of his nail. Mu Qingfang looked surprised for a brief moment before he gave Shen Yuan a disapproving stare, watching the demon sheepishly retract the claws of one hand with a soft ‘click.’

“In my defense, I haven’t really needed to use them. There’s no need to climb much here, nothing tough to grind it on.”

Mu Qingfang raised an eyebrow, and met Shen Yuan’s gaze.

“Shen Yuan, are you asking for a scratching post?”

Shen Yuan snorted yet didn’t seem too opposed to the idea, turning his focus back to grinding his nails until they were even.

“I’m not saying I need one..”

“Yet you’re not saying you don’t,”

Mu Qingfang replied, finishing Shen Yuan’s sentence as he pulled what seemed to be a nail file out of his sleeve.

“Do you just carry that around?”

Mu Qingfang took Shen Yuan’s hands into his own, testing different angles with the file pressed to the nail.

“Something small and inconspicuous like this can be useful in times of need. You should be well aware of that fact.”

“Well I suppose—No, lower. If you do it like that they’ll be crooked…I suppose you did always have a way of escaping your bindings.”

Shen Yuan thought back to their first meeting. It had been on much less-friendly terms. If it weren’t for his chilling curiosity Shen Yuan would have probably died by now.

“Here?”

Mu Qingfang’s voice brought him out of his thoughts. Shen Yuan looked at his claws and squinted his eyes, adjusting them himself before giving Mu Qingfang a nod.

"There's good."

Mu Qingfang just got to work, a domestic silence falling between the two of them as Shen Yuan found himself lost in his thoughts once again, this time wondering what other tools Mu Qingfang might've had on him during their first meeting.

Cumplane being established and in a (fairly) healthy relationship. They've been dating for about two or three years, but still occasionally find themselves acting like gradeschools with a crush.

After Shen Qingqiu meets Shen Yuan on some sort of rogue mission, or at the Warm Red Pavillion, Shen Qinghua finds him an intriguing (if slightly annoying) figure. He likes that he's not salacious, like other men (he respects my body and does the bare minimum *dreamy sigh*).

At the same time, Shen Qingqiu is finally starting to realize that Shang Qinghua is far more competent (and funny) than he lets on, especially when it comes to Cang Qiong interpersonal dynamics/affairs. AKA, he gossips and trash talks when he feels safe. He the proceeds to read Yue Qingeyue to absolute filth, and Shen Qingqiu doesn't know it yet, but he has just fallen head-over-heels.

When Cumplane has their monthly meeting where they get drunk and read trashy yellow books (Shang Qinghua's scripts), they instead just start drunkenly gushing about how hot Shne Qingqiu is. Shen Yuan denies being romantically interested (he may not be homophobic anymore, but he's still a tsundere), and that he can't *possibly* be blamed because Shen Qingqiu is clearly a peerless jade to all who have eyes. Shen Qingqiu starts to suspects that Shang Qinghua harbors some sort of feelings for him, but he's also just a flustered, anxious wreck on the best of days, then finds Shen Yuan supremely oblivious when men flirt with him at the market.

After a while, Shen Qingqiu ends up hanging out with one of them, and the other just happens to intrude on their time. (Having tea with Shang Qinghua, or out hunting for rare herbs/fungi with Shen Yuan.) Shen Qingqiu then discover that they know each other, when Shen Yuan gets flustered and hits him with a fan in retaliation for some of his trademark crude flirting. Obviously, Shang Qinghua cowers and sniffles, but he's right back to taunting him as soon as he's done nursing his “bruised" ego.

When they finally come back from their own world realize who they're in the company of, Shang Qinghua shouts that “shen-di is being so meeeean! Tell him to stop!” & Shen Yuan's like “no, Shen Qingqiu would agree with me, because *unlike you*, he's got more common sense in his pinky finger than you have in your whole body!” & then shrieks when Shang Qinghua does something stupid; like tackle him, pull his hair, or lick Shen Yuan's hand after it was (rightfully) placed over his infuriating mouth.

Shen Qingqiu concludes that Cumplane are married, and feels a bit hollow at the realization, though he's not entirely sure why (it's because he's *unfortunately* is viscerally attracted to *both* these idiots and is spiritually crushed that he can't have *either* of them).
