I'm new to the Outlast fandom so feel free to correct me if I get details wrong. But since you love Eddie...
In the asylum, when he persues his victims, how do you think he'd react to any of them claiming they had a husband already? O_O since he so desperately wants to make them his wife. Would he actually back off? Would he kill them in a rage? Or would he notice the lack of a ring on their finger and take that as 'proof'? "There's no need to be shy with me, Darling."
(Wait, Waylon has a wife/fiancé, right? Omg imagine if Eddie saw the ring on his finger 😅🥺)
First, I apologize if I end up mischaracterizing him. I’m always afraid I might do that :(
But to answer the question, and since I’ve read several fanfics with a similar scene, I can say two things for sure.
1. He might feel confused at first, given his delusions within the game. Then, he’d go through different stages; confusion, denial, and finally, rage, because in his mind, you’re lying to avoid accepting his romantic advances. It always ends in violence, be sure of that. Eddie doesn’t take “no” for an answer; you can’t say no because that means you’re rejecting him and, therefore, hurting his feelings. For him, rejection isn’t an option, especially if he thinks your husband is just an excuse
He becomes violent, both physically and verbally in any of these scenarios. Amid accusations, questions, insults, and a sense of frustration, I think he might even go as far as murder.
2.- If Eddie is under the delusion that YOU are his partner and have been married to him for x amount of time, he wouldn’t take it well at all if you told him you’re married to someone else. His rage would be immediate, because if he’s your husband and you’re telling him you’re married to someone else, that’s outright infidelity to him. You’re betraying him, and he can’t accept that. He’d insult you in every possible way while grabbing you and demanding an explanation for why you’d cheat on him like that, because he’s given you everything (in his mind, of course, lol). He’s taken care of you, protected you, loved you and in return, you’ve broken his heart. There’s no way to reason with him; he’ll end up hating you for what you made him go through.
Eddie definitely uses that phrase of “It hurts me more than it hurts you” every time he hurts you, lowkey canon. Also, Waylon is not only married to his wife Lisa, but he also has two kids, which can make it even worse.
