guys. Guys please you're allowed to say big boy words. please we cannot keep just rolling with the sanitization of every space on the internet ok. you're allowed to say suicide. you're allowed to say porn. they're not bad words, they're just words.
also by ''censoring'' the words with silly spellings you're actually making it much harder for people to filter out. please just say Sex you don't have to call it woohoo like it's the fucking sims. i promise the Word Police aren't going to arrest you
i think it's a little crazy how much ppl in this fandom hate lanolin. saw someone call her a "violent bully" like okay okay thanks for telling me you read the comics with ur eyes closed i guess
How Tatsuya Endo managed to create a story of the greatest spy in their country married to one of the best assassins in the country, who also happens to be the sister to one of the fastest rising ranked SSS officer, and have a telepath daughter, who the ex-Prime Minister's son has a crush on, and a future-seeing dog seem so natural and organic is beyond me.
Does Yuri also think that Yor was a sex worker?
Everyone else in Yor's life seems to believe she was. I'm sure Yuri would have taken any lie Yor told him about her work at face value, especially when he was a child who wouldn't understand. But he isn't stupid. And unlike with his suspicious about Yor's marriage, everyone else in his life also believes this. Yuri probably put the pieces together when he got older which only made him more overprotective.
This would recontextualize a lot of Yuri's actions. From his perspective, his sister was a victim of repeated child exploitation from unknown men. She purposefully didn't tell him and Yuri wasn't able to do anything. Now a strange unknown man has apparently been married to his sister and she didn't tell him? It probably felt like the same thing was happening all over again. But this time he could do something about it.
That's why he did a complete 180 from trying to find Yor a boyfriend to trying to have Loid executed. Why any suggestion of them being intimate sets him off more than anything else. And why he is so focused on eliminating scumbags from their country.
I think this was hinted at in Yuri's very first appearance. We have never seen him behave as violently as he did in his introduction scene. Yuri started off his interrogation with Mr. Hayward pretty calm and jovial. But when Mr. Hayward says that he was "spending money on ladies" and claiming that Yuri should know what that's like as a man, Yuri explodes. He starts sadistically torturing Hayward while screaming about protecting his family. To him, this man was as bad as the people who took advantage of his sister.
And it can't even be argued that it was the treason that set him off. He did not have the same reaction to the photographer, and Yuri even tried negotiating a quiet surrender with Twilight. He wasn't delighted to hurt Twilight or put the photographer in prison like with Hayward. Nor did he mention protecting his family. These guys were doing much more treason yet they didn't elicit the same personal response and sadistic rage.

(part 1)
pride month is almost over I would just like to say happy pride to boring LGBTQ people in particular. everyone expects us to be brilliant creatives and scientists and interior decorators and quirky professors and tortured artists but some of us wear nothing but Kirkland Signature clothing and watch Friends and The Office and are incapable of having an interesting conversation and that is okay. our diversity is our strength.
Hey hey don’t cry. Character who destroys themself in the end for nothing
Oh, this definitely belongs on Tumblr.
'kids these days are getting stupider' - yeah, probably generation war fearmongering bullshit
'kids these days are measurably less literate than those just 10 years ago' - I'm sorry but you should probably not just shrug this one off
(smoking a cigarette) the average american is afraid of what is new and what is foreign, and especially of what is adult. they are trapped forever in daycares of their own design, reading books and watching shows made for children. And while there are interesting things made for children, by and large, they tend to stick to inoffensive, intensely juvenile things that won't challenge them much. And worst of all, if you suggest to your Average American that they should try to step outside of their narrow box, especially if they're trying to become artists, animators, film makers, novelists, etc, everyone acts as if you've just bombed the daycare. Wow.
The "does listening to an audiobook count as reading" argument always gets me because, as a pedant, my answer is no. Having a story read to you does not count as you reading, because reading means looking at the words with your eyeballs (/fingers if braille), and then processing and understanding those words. Audiobooks are you being read to, not you reading.
BUT if I say this, it sounds like I think people who prefer audiobooks are like, lesser. AND I DON'T! I think audiobooks are just as valid a way to enjoy a book as reading is. There's no wrong way to consume a story, imo, and frankly, I don't have the ability to listen to audiobooks and actually absorb the information. My ADHD makes it so that I can't focus and retain oral stories like that. People who listen to audiobooks have a skill that I do not, and I highly respect and even envy them for it.
(Legit, it would take me multiple hours to get through WTNV eps because I was constantly having to rewind and listen again. My brain just cannot do it.)
And like, I know the response to this is probably, "You KNOW what people mean, and if you REALLY respected audiobooks you'd call it reading!" But man, I'm sorry, I'm just too pedantic 😔 reading is reading and listening is listening and watching is watching, so on and so forth. I don't correct people but I think it in my head EVERY time.
sometimes its like. i would love to not have to think about gender and misogyny all the time but on account of us living on the Gender and Misogyny Planet i cant do that. so

I'd like to think I improved a little bit over the last decade ;u;
"we cut the nobody scene from the odyssey" "we cut the religious trauma and parental abuse from carrie" i'm starting to think that studios barely funding original films is starting to have an effect where directors make up a story and then slap an IP on it in order to sell. or maybe some bitches just can't read anymore idk it's one or the other
Now that everyone is discussing Nolan's Odyssey movie, I feel like it's a good time to let non-Italians know that the production dumped plastic props into the Italian sea. Weirdly enough I could not find any article in English about it but it's a fucking problem nonetheless.
I might translate this article later today. This one was the most complete one, even in Italian news it's not talked about that much.
Non è la prima volta che la produzione solleva un vespaio in Sicilia. A Lipari una squadra di sub sarebbe però già impegnata a bonificare i
They dumped plastic skeletons in environmentally protected areas, against the literal contracts they had to sign to get the permits to film in environmentally protected areas. Like they not only did a bad ecological thing that freaked out some divers, they literally broke environmental protection laws and their contract with the Italian government
