I was enjoying PhoenixWrightsDeadDove's coffee shop AU where Mirabel is a barista in the cafe across from Bruno's apartment and wanted to draw something about it! I liked the tension in the two being so close, like 1/100 chances to be in the same city, across the street, sharing a daily routine (and uh, related). But they still spend the good part of the story pining.

re-watching the wowp movie and remembering how many shippy jalex moments was in it 😅 “i shouldn’t be ON you so much”

the campfire scene when i thought they would kiss and them being related confusing me “it’s you and i, how can we not?”

the scene where alex cries and begs justin not to leave her when he forgot her

the rumors about the actors dating when they were filming the movie

the writers being aware of jalex and even the actors knowing about it. a lot of the jalex scenes being done on purpose because they knew how much the fandom loved the ship, even if disney was against it in the later seasons when it got too obvious and people were asking questions so they started giving them less scenes

my first ship, so many memories 🥹 it was so surprising how they were the biggest show out of that show

it’s nice the show is kinda getting a resurgence of people talking about it with the revival

Wizards of Waverly Place : The Movie was peak Jalex. It was like a romance. (It also stands alone fairly well, if anyone reading this doesn't want to tackle the whole show.)

I'm still mad the way Alex and Justin's relationship played second fiddle in the later seasons after how central and suggestive was early on. Whoever it was that made them play it down, and I definitely believe it was intentional, ruined all the fun.

i saw the post about how justin and alex were twins in the unaired pilot and it reminded me how many changes the show went through.

idk if you knew that were originally cast as best friends/neighbors/love interests and david was the lead. disney had promised david and selena their own show after he was on that’s so raven and she was on the suite life so disney was doing a lot of different ideas. selena also was part of a lizzy mcguire and suite life arwin spinoff. a lot of shows werent picked up

they definitely changed justin’s name by the time they filmed that unaired pilot, though. it used to be jordan and juliet? i think, it was both j names when they were best friends/love interests. this was back in 2006.

it’s weird disney thought it was okay to change the dynamics and thought no one would notice. and it was obvious when the audience started shipping justin and alex even with their new siblings relationship and not knowing how much the show changed. when they never had a chemistry test to play siblings only best friends. the writers were being very suggestive in the s1 script, too. how many times did random characters suggest they should date or say they have a lot of chemistry? even their own mother when she forgot who justin was.

tldr: justin and alex were originally best friends/love interests and their chemistry never changed when they started playing older brother/younger sister

I'm so glad that they were siblings in the final version. What a gift.

As you said, regardless of the original intentions, a lot of suggestive stuff was put into the writing long after the pilot, long after they were established as siblings and the show was well into its run.

Have you see the official trailer for The Thundermans: Undercover? Hank & Barb refer to Phoebe and Max as Chloe’s guardians, they look dressed up like real adults going to a meeting at Chloe’s school, and they have to hide their powers again. Out of the Life with Derek movie, the Wizards sequel, and this one, Thundercest shippers definitely win: they live together raising a child and they’re *both* main characters who will likely be paired together for every plot line they’re in. I just started a rewatch from s1 and forgot how much I loved this show.

(I don’t know if you remember me, but this is LucayatheGood from the thundermans fandom ~2015-2018~ and I sent the thundermans movie anon messages a few months ago too…i’m now seriously regretting deleting all of my content lol)
