Shitty marriage contracts started Robert’s Rebellion, so what if everyone got a better deal?
Rhaegar Targaryen overthrew the Mad King in a short and slightly less bloody rebellion, and made Lyanna Stark his Queen. Viserys was made Prince of Dragonnstone, and Rhaella splits her time between the island and the capital, carrying Daenerys with her. Stannis Baratheon took his rightful seat at Storm’s End, the young Renly was sent to Highgarden as a ward, and Robert? Well, once a hoe, always a hoe. In Dorne, Cersei Lannister finally found her chance at happiness, she married Oberyn Martell, and Jaime went with her, giving up his chance to be Lord of Casterly Rock. With Joanna alive and well, Tywin had little hatred for his youngest child, and Tyrion became his heir. In the North, with Brandon dying in the rebellion, Eddard Stark became Lord of Winterfell and married Catelyn Tully.
No longer dealing with the strain of their own unhappiness, their biggest concern was making marriage alliances for their own children.

Ages tend to be somewhat aged-up (more like the show), so the younger characters are a little older and more ready to get in the middle of the action. This is also set around 2 years after the start of AGOT.
This is a heavily plotted AU verse, but we welcome all of your interpretations & ideas! A list of the current arranged marriage plots, and where the major characters are located in this new version of Westeros can be found below. Some things can be tweaked, but the current members have worked hard planning what alliances would fall where, so major plot points will need to be discussed with the group! There is a zero-tolerance policy for muns who disregard pre-negotiated group canon.

Jenny knew the Targaryens weren’t happy with the love she and Duncan shared. It was a love of the purest kind, though. No one could convince him to choose anything but her. It filled her heart with joy to know that a man with other responsibilities decided to put those aside and dedicate his heart and life to her. Of course she descended from the First Men but that didn’t seem to mean much nowadays.

It seemed as if all anyone could talk about was Duncan’s new love. Nyra wasn’t much bothered with who her eldest brother married, she was the youngest, it would fall to the siblings in between to clean up the messes Duncan left behind. In fact, she was happy for him, in a way ( not that she would ever say so to the rest of her family ) Despite a rather storied history of Targaryens who broke the rules, they were still royalty and they were still expected to behave as such. Sometimes that meant marrying for political gain, or to “preserve the bloodline.” Nyra hoped beyond hope that she would escape that fate. If she married, she wanted it to be for love.
“Love is rather persistent like that,” she agreed. “But what if you can’t find it?”
So with the trend of shapeshifter!direwolves I’ve seen rise up again, would those be applicable characters for joining? Also would it be alright to submit multiple bios for this in one go?

On an archipelago off the coast of Norway, the GREYJOY family runs the Kraken Syndicate, aka the largest smuggling ring in Northern Europe. For three generations they’ve run their business with a tight fist, with interruptions to their “peace” being few and far between. But an Interpol raid a decade ago left their grasp on power tenuous at best. With Balon’s two eldest sons in prison and the youngest taken by child protective services, the remaining members of the family have only become more tight knit. Loyalty and dedication to the family comes above all else.
But other families have taken the opportunity to encroach on their territory, none more so than the London based LANNISTERS and the BOLTONS from Moscow. But competing families aren’t their only worries. Still under police surveillance by Interpol agents STARK and TULLY, the family has to be on constant watch. One wrong step will see the rest of their empire crumbling around them. Then there’s the matter of TARGARYEN Industries which has been eying the islands for years, waiting for the opportunity to expand their buisness ventures. To do that, they’ll need to clear the crime off the archipelago. As if that weren’t enough, the kidnapping of Margaery TYRELL, daughter of the French Prime Minister, has been traced back to the Islands…

The day after her father left was always the worst. She hated to be this way ( angry, distraught, like a hurricane trapped in a person ) It was the overwhelming urge to be the little girl clinging to her father’s leg which forced her into her chambers. She was not some maid from the green lands, she would not see him off at the docks and wave a tear-stained handkerchief. That was what the new wife was for, the one who’s name Thyra had yet to learn. If the tradition continued this one would would soon suffer some tragic end, like the ones who’d come before. But Victarion did appear to like this one more than the last, and that was all she needed to know.
From her window in the Sea Tower, she could see clear across the island, Lordsport and the pier looked as small as children’s toys, tiny ships captained by tiny people. From here she’d watched Iron Victory sail out of view more times than she could count, and hundreds of other ships as well. Thyra had spent so much of her life watching people leave. But soon she’d have a ship of her own, Kraken’s Kiss, and then she’d be the one leaving. Maybe she wouldn’t come back, maybe she’d follow the path of Elissa Farman and sail into the Sunset Sea forever.
A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts. Thyra hardly turned toward the sound, just barked “What is it?” with considerably more venom than she felt.
this is a cop out but like i can’t choose between rhaella, aylward, and amina?? so we’re just gonna talk about all three i guess.
rhaella is the picture of a hopeless romantic, at least she was before aerys. she always dreamed of finding her soulmate and falling in love, but those hopes were dashes when her parents married her off to her brother. but i see younger rhaella being a lot like younger sansa, she loves the stories of romance and chivalry, and when you subscribe to that rose-colored glasses view of the world, it’s easy to fall in love with anyone who shows you kindness. that’s really where i see bonifer/rhaella coming from (but again, bonella is a whole other meta i should write sometime).
aylward never wanted to marry for duty, he was always hoping to fall in love and when he did fall in love with wylla flowers, it didn’t matter to him that she was a bastard, he’d give everything up for her. after her death, he didn’t see himself ever loving anyone again, but he’s always still looking for that love. in every ship i’ve ever written him in, he falls for someone seemingly off limits or unattainable, but even when he knows it’s unrequited or impossible it doesn’t stop him from falling for them anyway.
this is maybe not the same thing, but i see amina as a serial-monogamist. like there’s not really a one-true-love situation for her. but she’s not necessarily a hopeless romantic or willing to fall in love with someone immediately. but friends-to-loves is a big trope for her, and once someone is in that inner circle, there’s a big chance she’ll fall in love with them. becoming trusted enough to be let into that inner circle in the more challenging part.
hmm. i gotta separate from heartbreaker from hoe…probably rhaenyra or thyra. for different reasons they both distance themselves from their relationships, and are never the one that cares the most which leads to them frequently hurting people they claim to love.
rhaenyra very much sees herself as better than most people, and while she expects their love, it’s rare that she gives it back in kind (the exception to this rule imo is harwin strong, the only man nyra ever really loved, but that’s a whole other meta).
thyra on the other hand sees love as a distraction from her goal, and while she doesn’t shy away from sex, most of her relationships never really go beyond that, even if the other person wants them to. in her mind, “relationships” are nothing more than letting off steam.
