“Johnny K2000" is the latest effort to keep alive the legacy of Bay Area DJ and producer Johnny Igaz (a.k.a. Nackt). Unlike other posthumous Nackt releases, this album contains all new material produced by members of the extended Nackt family. In addition to a shared sonic tendency towards ambient and downtempo explorations, these songs are all linked by incorporating samples played on the Kurzweil K2000 synthesizer owned and used by Johnny in his own productions. Ben Winans produced a pack of over three hundred samples using Johnny's K2000, which were shared with the artists, who then drew from this library when creating these original compositions. In keeping with Johnny's commitment to social justice and progressive change, all proceeds from digital and tape sales will be donated to Red Canary Song to aid their efforts in supporting Asian and migrant sex workers.
