My new method for deciding what to post half the time has become thus: anything I feel the need to turn to my mom (who is almost invariably sitting next to me yes I'm 30 what of it) and make her read/watch/experience it goes in the queue so I can do exactly that to all (like, 5 or whatever) of you. Open Gmail in your browser
Click on the Gear Icon ⚙️ in the upper right
In the General Tab, scroll down to "Smart Features" and UNCHECK THE BOX. It is about halfway down.
Then, right below that is Google Workspace smart features. Click on the "Manage Workspace Smart Features" and make sure both toggles are OFF

one thing you gotta appreciate in Carpenter’s The Thing is that it is also a horror from the POV of the monster. At the end of the day it’s a movie about a bunch of assholes isolated in the middle of nowhere doing what they can to survive, and by “doing what they can” I mean freaking out and screaming and throwing up. this also includes the Thing.

Like, it is worth noting that The Thing is VERY MUCH trying to get THE FUCK off the planet again. It does not want conflict. It deescalates when it can. It wants to play it cool. The shit hits the fan and Kurt Russell breaks out his hat and his flamethrower and it tries to yeet ITSELF.
