Eun Han was born to a Korean-American family in Long Island, New York, the only child of middle-aged first time parents. The pair had assumed they were unable to have children and believed that if they got pregnant, they got pregnant and if they didn’t, then they didn’t. They had never especially wanted to have children in the first place.
Due to Hyejin’s age, she had all the risks that any other mother who was of an advanced maternal age… and she somehow managed to encounter every one.
After an arduous but terrifyingly short pregnancy, Eun was born a tiny preemie at a mere 32 weeks. Hyejin and Eun stayed in the maternity ward for nearly a month before they were released. Hyejin stayed with Eun for as little time as possible before handing her off to a nanny by the name of Cho-Hee Mae.
Cho-Hee raised the frail little girl the best she could but despite her best efforts, Eun wanted the attention of her parents more than anything. First, she tried being the best child anyone could ask for. Attentive and well-behaved, but she was still ignored. Then, when she was older, she tried to be the best student. That, at least, came naturally. Even when that did nothing to garner their attention, she still worked to do well in her studies.
It wasn’t until she was just 13 that she started acting out. It started at first as little things that came with being 13. A short temper, neglected chores… but she turned to destroying paperwork and picking fights soon after. All she got was trouble at school and not even a peep from her parents. Eun started pick-pocketing and eavesdropping soon after. Things around the house would go missing and show up in her room, she would somehow find out about business secrets.
Now that they noticed. It took blackmailing her own parents (made easy by her eidetic memory) to get basic interaction… but she was hooked on the thrill of control and found she enjoyed the adrenaline rush of fighting. By 15, she had been to juvenile detention for assault, threats, and theft twice.
Even when she mellowed out, Eun would frequently blackmail her classmates into doing what she wanted. By 16, her manipulation was perfected. Instead of outright stealing and fighting, she learned how to twist people into doing what she wanted. It wasn’t exactly a surprise that she managed to swindle her college of choice into ignoring her extensive, notably violent, criminal record (and her parents’ money didn’t hurt one bit in that regard).
Eun worked hard in college to earn a double major. One in business, one in journalism. She found it easier to gather her information when she understood the methods of the ‘upright’ media, after all. Though her record barred her from getting a job in the field.
Faux Folie placed her right in the center of everything, regardless, and she began fighting at the Aréne- she enjoyed fighting more than most, but she couldn’t risk another arrest now that she had seemingly been ‘going straight’. Important people, she found, enjoyed spending their time there as well.
Soon after getting the job at Faux Folie, she joined in with The Syndicate (unsurprising, given her skillset and stints in juvenile detention)… and the rest is history.

NPCs
Hyejin Han - Mother - Deceased
The relationship between Eun and Hyejin is… especially tense. Hyejin was never quite the same after her complicated pregnancy (having been 50 when she had gotten pregnant) and blames her daughter for the complication. It doesn’t help that Eun targetted her mother more than her father when it came to the blackmail.
Seok Han - Father - Deceased
Seok was more of a… shadow in Eun’s life. She saw him a handful of times a week if she was lucky and the two barely know each other at all. Eun barely knows him well enough to be angry at his absence. It’s hard to miss someone you don’t know.
Cho-Hee Mae - Nanny, Pseudo-Mother - Living
Although Cho-Hee had children of her own, she is the closest thing to a real parent Eun ever had. The two still talk and meet with each other, but Eun is careful to keep Cho-Hee far separated from her involvement in The Syndicate.
