shane hollander is a very stubborn guy. and it shows in ways a lot of people wouldn’t expect, mainly in making plans. yeah, he’s very schedule oriented but once he decides to do something, he does it. he decides to take out the trash? he’s already getting up. he feels like going on a run? already putting on headphones. you see how this goes

he assumes it’s the same for other people, though. so when he’s laying on ilya’s chest some time in 2016, and ilya says quietly “i should go…”, shane is already getting up, saying a quick “okay” and getting ready to shower. this happens many many times before ilya realises shane actually still wants him to stay.

this also means after the tuna melt incident, ilya stays on the couch for far too long, hoping shane finally breaks through his stubbornness and comes back to him

shane crashing out because every time he tells someone he's with ilya they go oh but he's an asshole or they say rozanov? what the fuck are you doing with an asshole like that? or isn't he too busy fucking all of boston? you could do so much better like no one is ever just happy for him and shane's like no you stupid fucking idiots he's the kindest, sweetest most loving guy in the world and if you talk shit about him i will push my hockey stick through your skull until you stop breathing

this is why i love fics where people see ilyas love for shane so openly. he’s dropping gloves when he hears someone chirp shane, he’s pushing someone away when they’re flirting on a night out, he’s defending any mistakes in post-game interviews, he’s fucking destroying the metros online after their actions post-coming out leak. and suddenly, all of shane’s friends and the public have a collective oh, oh wow, moment and shane is pulling his hair out because really? this is what it took? you couldn’t believe me the first time?

ilya rozanov who’s known to boston as the mysterious fuckboy from russia who chirps like he’s getting paid for it and is crazy good at hockey. one day a teammate is absent from a few games in a row and turns back up to practice with a fucking newborn and they’re all in their hockey gear fawning over this tiny baby. then once everyone’s said hi before practice, the crowd parts and ilyas just stood by the doorway, a literal deer in headlights staring at the bundle of blankets in his teammates arms and-

“do you wanna hold him?”

ilya’s moving forward before he can process the words and everyone’s holding their breath as he gathers the newborn into his arms, pausing to take his gloves off first. it’s a few tense seconds before the baby babbles and shifts slightly before tucking his head into the crook of his arm and swiftly falling to sleep.

ilya looks up to see his whole team stifling grins, “i think we’ve found the new babysitter” and he bites back a chirp because he doesn’t want to wake the baby he’s holding so delicately to his chest.

he’s stuck on the sidelines for the whole practice while he rocks the baby through the slams against walls, waving its little arm towards its dad when it eventually wakes up.

and yeah pictures surface soon after of fucking rozanov staring down at the baby in his arms with the fucking softest eyes and twitter has a field day proving he’s a softie at heart

I fear even typing this because I don't want to speak it into existence but truly my worst fear when it comes to Unrivalled is that RR will make Hollanov have kids and force Shane into early retirement while Ilya keeps playing.

They don't ever discuss it, really - not truly; the way Shane craves Ilya in his mouth with an intensity that at times buzzes under his skin like a hive of bees. They don't actually talk about it when he raises Ilya's fingers to his mouth while they're watching a movie. When he's reading while the pads of two fingers press into his tongue or the roof of his mouth. When Ilya's fingers run along the insides of his teeth as he answers emails. When Shane gently sucks on them without paying any of it much thought, mind occupied by other matters. Just like Ilya doesn't make a big thing of it when Shane gently bites down on his forearm or his pec, letting his tongue glide over the skin out of sheer need to be close to him, to have something of him in him, preferably at all times. They allow it to remain unspoken. Just one of those things that is tacitly understood and lovingly obliged with.

Or, well, Ilya does bring it up sometimes but only when Shane's mind is already clouded with desire. It's only ever said in that syrupy sweet tone of voice - the same tone he uses when he says "do you need me to fuck you, sweetheart?" The tone that doesn't require a response beyond whimpers and perhaps the occasional "please." When Shane's head is fuzzy and full of cotton, when he's in that place where nothing beyond longing can reach him. He'll bring it up then. Whisper it in his ear or let the words drip out between kisses. "Are you so empty, baby? Does my sweet boy need something in his mouth?" Shane will never admit how affected he is by that tone; sugary sweet and dripping with gentle condescension. "Are you still not full enough?" he'll ask when Shane desperately chases his fingers while Ilya's ramming into him from behind. That's when he brings it up. "So greedy," he'll say, "so needy," and the words sound like terms of endearment, "always need me in your mouth, don't you?" And Shane will say please and be rewarded for it. But they don't discuss it. Not really. After all, Shane knows better than to talk with his mouth full.

Shane absolutely delirious after Ilya spent ages stretching him, begging for it so prettily as Ilya holds his hips down with just the tip inside him, crying with need, twisting in the sheets, genuinely just dying for it. Ilya dragging it out for as long as he possibly can, his chest tight with seeing how much Shane needs it, finally slamming home and hearing Shane choke on a sob before an endless litany of "thankyouthankyouthankyou" tumbles from his lips.

Yes, Ilya's possessive of Shane, he loves that Shane gives himself over to Ilya in a way no one else can have but, more importantly, he loves being Shane's. He loves the way Shane never lets him carry his own bags (though Ilya still makes sure to complain about it plenty). He loves the way Shane will gently adjust his position on the couch so that Ilya can curl up on his chest and the way he absentmindedly cards his fingers through his curls, even when he's distracted. He loves the way Shane takes care of him when he's sick, how he refuses to just let Ilya push through it and makes him lie down, brings him a cold compress and hot soup and takes his fever, running his hands through Ilya's sweaty hair calling him "sweetheart" and "poor baby." He loves how jealous Shane gets at the smallest thing, he loves how huffy he gets, how it's the only time he'll really instigate public displays of affection, and how it's born out of a need to stake his claim. Ilya would happily help him along with that goal but Shane had shot down his very reasonable idea of getting property of Shane Hollander tattooed on his thigh (though not before they fucked about it). He loves being buried in Shane's body, thrusting slowly into him and whispering "yours" until Shane, blissed out and writhing beneath him, confirms it. "Mine."

When Ilya pisses Shane off and Shane wants to punish him, he makes a vodka soda with ginger ale and Ilya’s fanciest vodka and slowly drinks it in front of him. 0 to 100 ragebait every time

“Hollander! You cannot do that!”

“It is for sipping only!”

“Get your cheap Canadian bubbles away from that! You cannot even buy it in North America!”

“Do I hear ice in there?!”

“In a red solo cup like you are a frat boy!”

“You don’t even like it!”

Sometimes Shane will drink something while making eye contact with Ilya in the vicinity of a vodka bottle and doesn’t say anything and makes Ilya stew in silence over whether or not he actually did it

They move in together full time and Ilya notices that Anya acts differently with Shane than she does with him, more quiet and less playful, and he worries that means she doesn’t like Shane or is jealous, so he hires a dog trainer to come over and see if there’s anything they need to do to help

After a while of talking about how Anya acts the trainer says there’s nothing to worry about, Anya likes Shane just fine, it’s just that she sees him as the boss and is acting accordingly

And Ilya is like. But. I’m the one who adopted her? And raised her before Shane got here?? And the trainer is just like yeah well she sees you more like an equal. And Ilya is like WAIT she thinks Shane is in charge of both of us?? And the trainer is just like well do you interact in a way that would make her think that?

Ilya’s life flashes before his eyes as he thinks of all the times Shane has come over with a snack for Ilya and a treat for Anya, or all the times Shane has announced they’re all going for an after dinner walk, or pets Ilya’s hair and tells him he did a good job at practice, or the fact that he uses the same warning tone with Anya when she misbehaves as he does with Ilya when he’s causing problems on purpose

Shane comes home to Ilya with his face in his hands going oh god I’m not Anya’s dad I’m her brother and she thinks we’re both your pets. And Shane just goes. What.

One thing about the Hollander men; if you hit them with a social situation they don't know how to react to, they will straight up leave ✌️

okay but with how much of ilya's personality is getting satisfaction about taking care of his loved ones and how much he loves taking care of shane in particular, i'm CACKLING about shane nearly killing him the first time he tries out praise on him in bed

*shane* loves being praised and told how good he is, so he decides to flip it around and try it on ilya because that always goes so well with stuff like techniques in bed

but ilya gets hit with "fuck, you're so good to me" and 0.0 and before he can even START to recover from that, shane (who is still in the zone, eyes closed, just fully Lost In It) doubles back with a "god, you take such good care of me"

and ilya fully almost blacks out

shane startles back to reality to ilya pulling away and having to sit on the edge of the bed and put his head between his knees and shane is just *tentative pat pat* what...just happened????

okay but hudson saying that playing shane actually made his muscles sore and stiff because of how tense shane is all the time makes me laugh imagining ilya offering a massage in what was meant to just be playful foreplay, but then he starts doing it and is just 🤨🤨 jesus??? 🤨🤨 hollander, do you have muscles that AREN'T knots??? 🤨

and at first shane keeps trying to turn over because this foreplay is taking too long, and ilya is just *tsk noise and shoving his head back into the pillow but in a way that's never been less sexual between them in their entire time together* stay down, hollander, this is painful to witness how the fuck do you skate with these fucked muscles-

extremely endeared about the idea of shane and ilya babysitting the pike kids and shane getting assigned role of king because he's mostly just interested in sitting and spectating to make sure no one is actually getting hurt and meanwhile ilya is alternatively a dragon/enemy knight/friendly knight/horse depending literally on the second and which kid you ask

which also leads to the very funny moment of the twins bringing their "captive" to king shane for judgement of his crimes and shane not even lowering his sunglasses and going "off with his head"

ilya is just D:< you will not even TRY to argue clemency?? for your HUSBAND???

i know that ilya's ass is SO dramatic about getting his goodbye kisses after he and shane are together

shane forgets because he's running late for a meeting one day and has to rush out of the door, and he then arrives at the studio for the photoshoot he has booked to see a text from ilya with three different headstone styles with "one of these, i think"

and is just "for?? what??"

"when i am dead from broken heart because my husband does not love me anymore and does not kiss me before i will not see him for twenty years"

"ilya, i will be home in like four hours"

*pictures of two different casket models* "i am thinking the darker wood one, but perhaps that is too nice for your taste now that you do not love me anymore. perhaps you will bury me in cardboard shoe box like sad, dead hamster."

I'm very attached to shane got his autism from one or both of his parents but none of them are diagnosed because it presents the very funny idea of their house naturally having habits/accomodations that are normal for them and thus never get brought up but that of course ilya wouldn't know about

like they're all used to calling out a warning before something loud ("blender!") just as a heads up because yes of course you would warn everyone around you about incoming loud noise

which means one day ilya is helping clean up a potted plant that got knocked over but turns on the vacuum without a warning, making yuna and shane look at him like he just betrayed them

and ilya is just ????
