"Not dating or having sex isn't even a source of discrimination in real life-" How many rights and benefits are tied up in marriage contracts though? How much of our economic and societal structure is built with the clear expectation that people couple up and support each other? Where's the security nets and affordable options for people who will never have a partner/spouse to take care of them? How many people save serious commitment only for people they have a romantic and sexual relationship with? How many people will unquestionably prioritize their sexual and romantic relationship above all other social connections in their lives? And where does that leave the people who don't want that at all, ever?
I learned in my political science class that all major famines in the 20th century and onward have been caused by oppressive groups or political situations restricting access to food, NOT natural causes like crop failure
This is literally the point that Indian economist Amartya Sen made that won him the Nobel prize in economics. As a child, he survived one of the several Bengal famines that were organised by the British colonisers in India. He developed his theory on famines, which is that they were more about distribution of food rather than production or availability of it
Thinking about my childhood best friend.
I don't hold the end of our friendship against him. We we're both kids, kids who were sick, (him mentally, me physically) and because we were sick we couldn't help each other.
With any illness, physical or mental, there is an amount of mental, physical, and emotional energy that has to be devoted to maintaining your baseline. For some people that baseline is treating or coping with whatever is wrong and living a relatively normal life, for others that baseline is just- not dying.
When you have to devote all your energy to not dying, there isn't really any left to help other people.
Neither of us could give the other what they needed in that friendship. That's okay.
My illness fluctuates. I do my best to maintain my baseline and often when I am not having issues with doing that, I will have energy left over to help others.
I will probably never "get better" I will have more flare ups, I will get worse and my baseline will shift a little lower each time because of the damage to my body and I will have to be careful about conserving my energy. I have to come to terms with the fact that there will be times in my life where I am too sick to help other people.
While I can though, I will always try to help. That's who I am. And even though it wasn't my fault, I'm sorry I couldn't help him.
perhaps. i do want to be loved. unfortunate.

It is so evil and fucked up that the treatment meant to make my pain better has to be excruciatingly painful for like 2 days before it starts working. Also it might just, not fucking work, ig? Apparently it works for some people like magic and then others it does absolutely nothing for, and if I am in the latter group, im going to lose it fr this time.
people will really defend marriage so hard because it has benefits as if its not super limiting and frustrating for ONLY marriage to have those benefits. "hey i think we shoudn't prioritize marriage that much in our lives" "but marriage comes with so many benefits!" okay and why is it the only thing that lets you put someone else in your life as a designated "i trust them with healthcare or finance or my will". why cant marriage be extended to more than one other person. why is it only marriage, why cant you choose someone you really trust to handle your affairs, why does it have to be marriage. get real
no matter how many times i listen to black hole fantasy i'm NEVER ready for "let's try this again"

If you could restart your life from age 15 with all the knowledge you possessed now, so that you COULD go back and fix all your regrets/mistakes, would you do it?
Yes
