jobs still aren't hiring and other expenses like groceries and utility bills are also necessary. even when we apply for aid, it's only by chance we get any and it's not enough. it has been impossible to keep up.

Hi everyone. This is never a post I expected to make. Yesterday, the place I have been so lucky to call home these last few years burned to the ground. The house itself belonged to my dear friends, Lu and Davina. They welcomed me into their lives as if I were family, giving me a home on their farm whenever I've needed it. I return again and again to it as a safe harbor.

It's a complete loss.

The house is gone. Several other buildings on the farm are also completely gone. The car partially melted. Luckily, the barn and chickens and horses survived.

Davina was mercifully off-island when the fire happened in the middle of the night, and Lu escaped alongside their dog. But Bear, the beloved cat, is still missing. We hope he's hiding in the woods nearby or in the barn, but so far he's unaccounted for.

I would do anything to be able to get home from so far away and do something, to look for Bear and help my friends, but I cannot (you may or may not know I'm in school in another country right now).

Another close friend of Davina and Lu has posted a fundraiser to help with immediate needs and rebuilding their lives as much as they can.

Please do not feel obligated to donate, but do share if you can. I'm posting this because right now it's literally the only thing I can do for my friends. Thank you for reading this, regardless of whether you can donate. <3

As I said in another post: while my friends have so lovingly made me a home with them, it's still very much their house and their loss, being that I'm studying in another country right now and graciously safe. idk what else i can say, we've been in need for months, my physical and mental health have been declining sharply, job openings are scarce and they aren't answering back, i'm a multiply disabled chinese lesbian and ICE is 'undercover' in my city, my wife is a trans woman and there's been cases of transmisogynistic violence in the streets here and there as well as job discrimination too, we are disadvantaged and this isn't the only major bill or expense to worry about, we have utilities and we're always paying the adhd / disabled tax on our groceries, everything adds up and we really really need to pay off this balance to have some fucking breathing room for once please
