also oml tsundere jeongyeon who literally melts for jihyo. that video of her asking why jihyo hadn’t spoken to her is one of my faves, right along with the one where jihyo was talking abt taking her on a date and she goes “with me? why?” and laughs at the thought, only to immediately get all shy and cute when jihyo says she’s charming. whatever they had going on during ready to be still hits to this day, lmao. to me, jeongyeon’s never been the one to be as open with her affection- instead it shows in really subtle ways, like when she gave jihyo the medicine during the i live alone car ride, or yknow, the fact that 1. she posted pics of her and jihyo in barcelona alone but 2. made it the first pic of the post! that’s like, huge LMAO. maybe it’s bc she wants to appear more nonchalant, but i also just think that caring for jihyo is something that’s second nature to her so she doesn’t necessarily feel the need to play it up for a camera. but this is just all to say that you’re right. for as cool and tough as jeongyeon acts, she’s whining and pouting the second jihyo looks away. i really adore that fact about her. she’s too much of a sweet puppy to ever truly hide her feelings, esp with jihyo :’)

lately i have been trying (and failing) to write more, and i think one of my problems is that i overthink and judge myself too harshly, then stop before finishing an idea. i really admire your writing, so i figured i’d ask, do you have any advice for getting more confident in my work? or any advice for building confidence again after receiving mean comments on things they’ve posted in the past 🥲 tia!!!

aw omg! i’m sorry to hear that you’ve been struggling with that :( trust and believe that i’ve been there plenty of times myself, and i can also sadly relate to the part about receiving mean comments on things i’ve posted. it’s disheartening and sometimes really so hard to recover from, but it’s so much worse when you lose confidence in yourself on top of everything else. i have a few bits of advice i can share, though! ofc it might not work for you but, still!

write for yourself and keep it to yourself! you don’t have to post every single thing that you write, you don’t even have to share it with your friends. sometimes it’s nice to just treat yourself and write something that you really want, but it’s also a good way to form your own love for your writing again. i’ve done it plenty of times and it’s definitely a confidence booster imo! it’s also a good reminder that you should put yourself first when writing.

write drabbles. even if it’s just a few paragraphs, it helps a lot! writing is a craft, much like any form of art, and it takes some time to get to a place where it’s “good” in your own eyes. starting with shorter pieces helps you build confidence with yourself and with tackling bigger ideas in the future.

try new ideas. experiment with your style! write the fic that you’ve been putting off as a treat! of course, always be sure to pace yourself and take breaks, but i promise that when you go outside of your comfort zone you will be so much more proud of yourself when it’s done. even if you don’t necessarily love every part of it, there will surely be some high points that you can latch onto and build from. for example, you may be someone who loves to write fluff, but maybe you can experiment with some light angst? maybe a mystery or thriller? idk, just take whatever idea you’ve put off and try to write even a bit of it.

my last piece of advice and probably my biggest is to do your best to ignore other people- esp the mean ones. if someone leaves a mean comment, block them and delete it! ao3 has a great block system, lmao. but ofc you can use the same thing here and on twt. it has done wonders for me to just block the people who have said negative shit. obviously it’s easier said than done but one mean comment does not make the worth of your writing- what matters is how you feel about it, how the people who support you feel, too! for every shitty comment there’s loads of kinder ones. and i’m sure plenty of people have read your fics who didn’t leave comments but walked away from it happy or changed, too. try to remember that always!!

I was a little worried that after the tour ended, the ujb moments would enter a drought… lmao I should never have doubted workaholic twice (this honestly gives me so much faith & hope that even with different solo contracts, the girls will still find ways to make it clear Twice is forever)

There was the Teazen event that Twice got to the second they landed in korea, and plenty of ujb moments were spotted… Jihyo had her whole first pitch event with her sister, and still managed to bring up Jeongyeon with Yuangle’s pickets… and then Jihyo immediately went to attend the mamamoo concert with Jeongyeon that same day (sidenote: Moonbyul saying that how they [UJB and her] got close is a secret is so funny considering she’s one of the biggest cases of glass closet idols in kpop, and prasing it like that does not help my delusions at all lol)

i was, too! like omg as soon as it ended and we weren’t getting clips i felt like i was in a drought, lmao. i rlly miss them but they’ve been steadily supplying us- with all of what you’ve mentioned plus the sweet comment jihyo left on jeongyeon’s post from the harper’s bazaar shoot with seungyeon. it’s so cute to see jihyo in her comments like a sweet supportive gf, lmao. also i’m currently trying to ignore the gloom surrounding the contract renewals 😭 in my heart i know twice isn’t going to go anywhere but i do hope that whatever decisions they make are 1. the best for them and 2. allow for a significant rest time because they truly deserve it. my girls have worked so hard for so long and i am insanely proud of them, and i’ll support them no matter what paths they take.

ohhh the hanahaki ujb ideas are plaguing me… just based off of how long jihyo has loved jeongyeon to the point of it becoming a fundamental part of who she is, I truly believe jihyo would be the first ever case of a person achieving mutualism or symbiosis with her hanahaki disease lol. If anyone could do it, it would be park igyeonae! Maybe whatever symbiosis she’s achieved with the hanahaki is why she seems to have inhuman lung capacity, because the flowers are literally makng oxygen inside her lungs, which could also be symbolism for how loving jeongyeon is as easy and natural as breathing for jihyo, or how jeongyeon literally breathes life into her. There’s also the irl connection between oxygen and oxytocin, which is literally called the love hormone!!!

If or when ujb finally get together and jihyo’s hanahaki situation is resolved, maybe jihyo sometimes wishes she still had that physical reminder of her love for jeongyeon living in her chest

jihyo’s love for jeongyeon would never be the death of her. even if her body tried all its might, it never could be- it’s such a part of who she is that, yeah, she 100% would be one of the first people to achieve symbiosis with her flowers. the longer she loves jeongyeon, the longer they stay a part of her. i think this could also be achieved from the fact that jeongyeon genuinely does love jihyo back- maybe not romantically until after a certain point, but the platonic love she had for jihyo was strong enough for jihyo’s body to survive it. jihyo goes from planting the flowers to just letting them exist within her as a physical reminder that her love isn’t going anywhere. like ugh. you really did wonders with it actually being something that could happen- the oxygen and oxytocin connection is amazing.

first off, welcome back 🫶 you’ve probably been super busy! No pressure on finishing the a4a ujb series btw, I love all your ujb fics! The series also felt kind of complete in a way, it sort of felt like a series of oneshots for the most part. All of the fics could be read as complete & stand alone stories in their own right. So I never even really thought there was going to be more lol, and after years of being on ao3 you sort of get used to reading unfinished fics without any expectations 👍

now back to ujb horny thoughts: I figured out why I found the concept of Jihyo being so skittish extremely hot. It’s because she’s such a strong, confident, and unwavering leader in public lol. So when she’s at a disadvantage that she doesn’t know how to handle, it’s kind of satisfying seeing her be so vulnerable even if / especially when it’s not by her choice bcs she’s really kind of a control freak. Also, the fact that it’s JEONGYEON who steps up to take control and handle the situation when Jihyo can’t is also extremely hot… something something power dynamics, something something Jeongyeon was the one who had the second most number of votes to be leader, something something ujb being the parents of the group and being each other’s caretaker too…

as for the horny thoughts: congrats you’ve broken down one of the key reasons why i love ujb. it definitely shows in that series, and probably most if not all of my other ujb fics (esp push me too hard), too. outwardly jihyo’s the definition of strength, she doesn’t want anyone to know that she might be struggling at all, so she will act like she isn’t. and then there’s jeongyeon who can see right through all of it, and who can and will take care of her. i don’t think a lot of people have tapped into vulnerable, needy jihyo and i really do wish they would more. the general tropes the fandom at large uses with her sort of bore me to some degree- and this is not against anyone at all bc yes, 100%, i think a more dominant, take-no-bullshit-and-push-through type of jihyo is ridiculously hot. but i also think when jihyo gets portrayed as scared, overwhelmed, and clearly exhausted is super hot, too. something abt seeing the “imperfection” in someone so perfect is… ughhhh i love it. and this doesn’t even need to be in a sexual context, either. i just like when jihyo gets comforted and told she’s going to be okay- or like, not even that bc sometimes things won’t be okay, but they’ll become manageable. she deserves so much love, too, esp for how much work she’s put in over the years. i rlly could talk abt this for hours lmfao

but!! i’m really glad that you’ve brought up the fact that it’s jeongyeon of all people. i feel like what i see the most, both in and out of fics (esp on twt), is that jihyo’s the one who takes care of her. and while i absolutely do agree, i think it makes people sort of… put jeongyeon into a box where she can’t be the “strong” one in any of her ships, esp in ujb. i know where it comes from- her hiatus, how the her and members have spoken about it, the implication that cactus was written by jihyo about her, etc. it’s sort of a bone to pick for me bc truly i know it goes much deeper than just the things ive listed, but i wont get into it lmao- i’m just glad that you understand what i did with that series and with a lot of my other ujb fics. i think so many people forget that jeongyeon is, to her core, a caregiver. sure she’s silly, she whines, she plays with and teases the others- but she also is just as much someone who can lead the group, and the others saw it back then and still clearly do. her leadership just comes in the form of taking care of them, but esp jihyo. she can be fragile, but when it comes to jihyo (and rlly the others, too) she absolutely will be the strength she needs and yes- that is SO hot!!!!!! regardless of if it’s sexual or not once again, lmao. but i’ll end my little rant there since this is something else i could talk about for hours

aw thank you so much!! i have an idea for another cc ujb fic that i’ve started writing that pairs with lassitude, hopefully once i actually get some energy to write it’ll get done!! it’s based on their little picnic date at the end of the american leg of the tour :3 all i’ll say abt it is that i rlly don’t think that 3 candle was meant to celebrate the tour… hehe

question for all the ujb-ers here, what moment got you into ujb as a ship?

I got into twice around heartshaker I think? After watching a kpop sapphic ship compiliation and seeing saida. dahyun was actually my initial bias for a time because i was reading saida fics and watching their variety stuff, and then I watched the heartshaker vlive and it was over for me after seeing Jihyo… I was a sahyo & mohyo shipepr before they were popular! but even I didn’t really consider ujb as a ship back then (I’m rewatching the old twice content now and finally seeing all the ujb traces…). Then I drifted away from kpop for a bit, and came back around yes or yes era. I remember seeing a clip of twice at the airport, where jihyo was waving to the reporters while looking adorable with her short hair & turtleneck sweater, and jeongyeon suddenly came up from behind literally towering over jyo while looking hot as hell in her glasses… the severe height difference just made it click for me. It also helped that yes or yes era was so full of ujb content too

aw omg in comparison i’m a bit of a newer ujb shipper!! and def more of a baby once lmao. i’ve been in and out of kpop for years since middle school (technically my first ult group was shinee, and they’re still up there with twice in terms of ults today lol), and i’ve listened to kpop since then but i wasn’t nearly as into it as i am now. so although i knew and listened to twice a lot (i actually got introduced to them with heartshaker!!), i got into them really hard after ready to be. my first big ship was 2yeon. like i spent weekssss reading fanfics and watching compilations of them 😭 i also really loved jeongmi a lot, too. ujb was also in the background during all of that, but they turned into my main ship during zone. something about watching jeongyeon be there for almost every step of jihyo’s album- from the planning to the damn release- was just so… special. that’s the only word i can really use to describe it, lmao. and then watching them talk about it during their 2wice date made it all the more special. since i wasn’t here for jeongyeon’s hiatus, i didn’t get to see much of jihyo taking care of her as it happened, only from random posts on twt and in the compilation videos on youtube… so there was just something that really hit seeing jeongyeon be jihyo’s emotional support during all of that. i just love how no matter what happens, jeongyeon’s always there for jihyo and vice versa. they’re perfect for each other lmao. i’m sad that the tour is over rn bc i know we won’t get nearly as many ujb moments now- i’ve seriously been riding a high for like 5 months with them 😭 but it’s amazing to know that we’ll continue to get more moments with them bc they’re so inseparable. i’m so glad i got into them :’)
