Weekly update May 29 2026
Man, what a week. I wrecked my sleep schedule more than it already was, but I did get a fair amount of art projects done. I probably should rest a while, but unfortunately I need to visit the US early next week, so I’ll be a little shot. Probably. No promises. Anyway: this week!
Comic: biggest thing, lineart is done! We are 67% done with episode 2, colors will be the next priority, and should theoretically be a lot easier. I’m really enjoying rereading through this episode, I’m real glad Annie is getting more spotlight as well. She’s always been the favorite on Artfight, so I’m hoping you’ll like seeing her in action!
Artfight prep: Jack is the last one who needs a ref sheet. Or at least, a proper refsheet. Scotty has had a newer design since we’ve gotten further into the campaign, and Ethel (the new addition) is probably going to also be a temporary, and she’ll need some pictures to use, but I’ll need to draw art for her for the TTRPG project I need done by the 21st anyway, so I’m not as worried about that. Now that comic lineart is done I’ll try to prioritize Artfight refs and TTRPG stuff for the next week or so, crunch out the last of what I wanted to get done.
Music: not *really* a lot of progress, I planned to finish off the audio for BWY tonight once I get home, and I messed with smack studio a bit more, to see how it worked. What I have planned is a bit more intensive than I thought, but then last night I drew up a simple rig in one sitting. Haven’t actually rigged it yet, but seeing as it was as fast as it was, maybe my plans will be fast as well. Planning on fiddling with that more tomorrow. Worst case if I don’t have anything ‘presentable’ by the 20th I’ll just do up a png lyric video, and a proper MV later. I have also had a new Teto song stuck in my head since it came out earlier this week, which might get thrown into the remix pipeline if it doesn’t leave soon, but that won’t be a priority until after my plate is clear, anywho.
TTRPG stuff: getting through my last roadblock, planning to crunch through that pretty soon. Maybe this upcoming week, maybe next week, we’ll see. I believe I have the blessing to record what I run, I’m hoping everyone will give permission for me to edit down and post it to YouTube as well, but that’s dependent on the players. Whatever, June is pixel art month, apparently.
Next week: tonight I’m going to finish off BWY audio and hopefully also AF refs. Next, gonna fiddle with smack studio until my drive on Monday, then do a bunch of surgery prep appointments and driving, then TTRPG maps. Comic colors will be done as I have time, since they should go pretty fast. I think with the motivation and energy I’ve had, everything should go quickly. Looks like late June/early July is going to have a whole bunch of cool projects to show off! I hope you all enjoy them!
Weekly update May 22 2026
Man what a week. I’ve been crazy busy with work stuff, but I somehow also got a TON of work done on art projects, too! Don’t know how that happened but I’ll take it! I’ll break it down:
Comic: so last week we were what, 50% done? We are now exactly 60% done per my calculations. I decided to lock in really hard, and plan to next week as well to crunch out the last of the lineart. Colors should theoretically be a lot faster, and lettering should be a breeze compared to last year since I don’t need to make an *entire font from scratch*. I’ll try to post wip panels during the coloring process.
Music: BWY is all tuned and mostly mixed. There is a section of non-singing vocal that I still need to mess with, which will involve some recording my own voice to get the MIDI right, but that should be quick enough. Still not completely sure what I’m going to do for the video but I have some ideas. Worst case I can just position-wiggle a png like the You are a Pirate cover from September. The other remix I wanted done before my surgery, LT, is also coming along nicely. Not 100% sold on a vocalist but leaning towards Solaria if I can get access to her. No progress on HH, but that’s to be expected unless I get a brain blast and write all the lyrics at 3 AM again.
No news on TTRPG or artfight refs, unfortunately. I do want to finish off the ref lineart before June but I think comic is going to take priority, since all the characters who really needed redone Refsheets already have the lineart done.
Next week: I *should* be able to have comic lineart done by the time I give this report next week. Ideally I’ll also have BWY finished and the video started, as well as artfight ref lineart done, but I’m going to focus on one thing at a time. Comic is going to be priority, still aiming for late June/early July release date on that. I have a lot of projects but I think I’m getting through the worst of it! Let’s hope I’m not speaking too early, though.

Weekly update May 15, 2026
I gave a big presentation today and it went well but I still feel terrible about it, so my motivation for the rest of today is probably shot. Probably. I got a lot done earlier this week though
Music: BWY has lyrics written, a VPR done, partially tuned. I’m taking another stab at vocaloid 6 because I think I’m starting to figure it out.
Comic: woah holy shit we are NOW 50% done! For real this time! My plan was to get all the lineart done by the end of May, I’m starting to think that’s not going to be the case but I’m still gonna try. Worst case if it does bleed into June I should be able to pick up the slack on the colors and lettering, should be a lot faster than last time since I don’t have to make a font from scratch again! If I get motivation back this afternoon I’ll keep chugging along. Either way, I feel like I made a lot more progress this week than I have been!
Artfight stuff: I still need to line refsheets for Jack and Josh. If I’m motivated this afternoon I’ll do Josh, I’ve been thinking about him again recently, he’s fun.
General animation stuff: I got a new toy, new pixel art animation program called smack studio, will probably also be a gateway drug into 3d animation. All the promotional videos and stuff I e seen makes it look *really* fast, if it’s actually that fast I’ll probably use it in the BWY video, if not, I’ll still probably be helpful in the future.
TTRPG stuff: had a brain blast for the thing I was tripped up on, now I should just need to figure out the individual enemies, and everything else should just be maps and art
Next week: Probably all comic, I’d like to finish artfight refs too so I don’t have to think about them, but that’s what I said last Friday. Probably will depend on how much time I get for everything. I’ll try to stay kinda ahead on comic at least! Rereading through the sketch pages, I’m real happy with what I’ve wrote!
Weekly Update May 8, 2026
Well, this week was crazy busy unexpectedly. I’m not sure how bad next week is going to be, but we’ll play it by ear. I got a good amount of stuff done this week regardless.
Artfight prep: so 4/7 refsheets have lineart now, and I plan to do all the colors in one go. I don’t shade refsheets, to make color picking easier, so I don’t expect it to take much longer. The only ones left are Josh, Jack, and Annie, I’m planning to do Annie’s later tonight if I have time.
Comic: going slower than I’d like but I’m managing to grind out a couple extra pages here at the end of the week. If all goes according to plan I should be ~47% done after tonight.
Music: So my plans for music before my surgery are to get at least one (probably only one) more vocal song released and one more remix finished but unreleased. The plan was originally for the Original I’ve had on the back burner since December, codenamed HH, to be the new song, as it already has instrumentals done . However, when working on lyric writing for it, I had a bit of a ‘brain blast’, for lack of a better term, and ended up outlining, and then writing most of the lyrics for an entirely different song. The next day, the instrumental for it was almost done. Per my Codenaming scheme, this song would be called BWY, and I believe it will probably be the new release, HH will have to wait. The plan is for that to be released around the Zola boys’ birthday.
TTRPG: admittedly not a whole lot of progress, but also admittedly I think I have a lot less to do than I’ve been thinking. The main challenge is finishing up the planning for the last encounter, then getting the map ready. I think once I have a plan, the map wouldn’t be too hard.
Next week: I want to finish up lineart of the Artfight refs, I want to not have to worry about that. More chugging along on comic, too. I’ll probably end up doing more lyric writing on BWY as well, who’s to say. Again, sorry I haven’t had a lot to show, I’ve been crunching pretty hard, and it’s just going to have to be like that for a while yet! Thank you for being patient!

Weekly update May 2 2026
Oops I’m a day late! It’s alright, I got a lot done yesterday. This week as a whole has been pretty productive, actually. Let’s get into it.
Comic: so I realized my math was wrong on how far along I was, but I am still chipping away at it pretty well. Per my corrected calculations, we are still 43% done, so I wasn’t as far off as I thought. Plus, I’ve been speeding up, I think it’s fair to be able to get it done enough to post by my surgery. Although I’ll probably not post everything right away, same as last time.
Artfight prep: refsheets coming along nicely, I’ve been trying to just focus on lineart right now, since that’s where I’m at with comic, and 3/7 have that done (I’m not doing a proper refsheet for Scotty or the new addition, most likely. I will throw up some new pictures for Scotty, though). I’m fairly certain I won’t be able to reanimate the thumbnails, but that’s fine. Whatever happens happens.
Music: so I’ve been learning vocaloid 6 a bit better now, redid CM again and put that back in the unreleased remix pile, LM is now also done. Part of me wants to finish up the last couple ‘mostly done’ songs so I have more to listen to during recovery, right now those would only be DMRD and INC. DMRD would probably be the next one, since it’s a Kyo v3 and Adachi Rei duet, and Adachi Rei is faster to tune since she’s UTAU. plus the new original, HH. I finished up instrumentals for that tonight, lyrics and vocals should follow pretty quick. I’m not quite over my music art block, but that’s fine since I don’t *really* have any music projects that are time sensitive. Not really. I kinda wanna release HH before my surgery, and there is one more remix I wanna start and finish before then too, but we’ll have to see.
TTRPG stuff: making headway on statblocks, maps for the encounters shouldn’t be too hard, assuming I plan well. Tonight I’m planning to write up more statblocks if I have don’t have the energy to draw.
This week was pretty productive, next week I do want to focus on school for a bit, then crunching away in more lineart. It hasn’t been too bad, it probably won’t be too bad, I’m expecting it to be done around the end of May, and all the coloring to be for June. Coloring is more fun and faster, so it’ll be fine.

Weekly update April 24, 2026
With the exception of some grad school tidying up, the school semester is done. Plus, I did get a good amount of stuff done this week. I’m hoping I can keep the momentum going into the next weeks, too. Let’s go over it.
Comic: still chugging along, picking up speed. Not much to say.
Artfight refsheets: also going pretty quick, I don’t think it’ll be hard at all to get them redone before the event. Part of me also wants to redo the thumbnails, since I have gotten better at animating I think, but we’ll see if there’s time left over for that.
Music: so one of the remixes from the pile, LM, is now like 97% done pretty much, I just wanna rearrange some of the samples. I’m also considering redoing some of the vocals on CM again, since vocaloid 6 is jank and I have new tricks I wanna try. We’ll see. No new news on any of the originals, but maybe if I’m still too sleepy to draw tonight I can finish up instrumentals or lyrics for HH.
Next week: I want to keep going on the lineart I’m getting backlogged with between comic and artfight refs, and then take another bite out of that TTRPG oneshot I’ve been writing. I think I’m mainly intimidated by it because of the maps, if I write out statblocks and stuff first it won’t be as scary, most likely. The plan for maps is probably to finish up a tileset for the actual shape, then just draw on finer details in CSP or Aseprite or something, so after the encounters are ready, I can outline maps and test them out. Anywho next week should theoretically be more productive, let’s see if that holds up.

I was a pokemon kid, really any of the party members from my in-game teams could count, but I think the overall winner is probably the butterfree I got traded to me in Soulsilver back in the day. Trade pokemon level up extra fast, so she evolved pretty much immediately, and carried me through Johto's jank level curve. Transferred her through all my other games over the years, EV trained her, maxed out her level, played with her in all the little minigames, she's the main reason Butterfree is still my favorite
Weekly update April 17, 2026
Another week with not much to show, but I am still making progress on stuff.
Comic: main thing, it’s been a while since I’ve given a number so here I’ll say we are exactly 50% done, by my calculations. Again the main issue right now is plowing through lineart, which takes a long time.
Speaking of plowing through lineart, I also now have somewhat of a format for Artfight refs, such that I can save time when drawing them in full. I forget if I’ve mentioned on this blog yet or not, but I’m getting a big surgery late June, that’ll keep me away from my day job for probably around 2 months, which overlaps with Artfight. My *hope* is to use Artfight as a means to entertain myself through recovery, so I expect to do a bunch of attacks, and it’d be courtesy to get my refs up to date, for retaliations.
I’ve also decided on the new character I’m planning to add this year. Seeing as my TTRPG group is still going strong, I’m adding another character for them, a villain for a oneshot I also plan to run. I’m going to try and give myself a hard deadline of running that by the 21st of June. That should mainly be map making at this point, again I just kinda need to find time for that.
I’m thinking up some organizational ideas for myself to get all my tasks in a row, since I want to get that oneshot run, episode 2 of O’Malley ready to post, and all the artfight refs done by the time I get my surgery. Which really isn’t all too much, but it is a lot of art that I need to do a lot of linework for. I think the main goal will be setting up time frames for each, although that might have to wait until after the semester is officially over, next Thursday.
Last thing, music. My mood has been pretty shit for a few weeks now, maybe it’s seasonal, idk. I think making new music would help, but I’ve been writers blocked on lyrics for a bit. It’ll get done when it gets done. It’s still coming along!
