dean was the good friend, that was the role that had been intended for him in nevaeh’s life and yet, he would have preferred to get used to another role. he wanted to be the one to hold her hand when she needed support. the one who listened to her when she had problems and solved them together with her and he wanted to be the proud boyfriend who watched her from the audience on stage. but in between lay worlds and his heart, content with everything she was willing to give, because it yearned for her every time. at the latest when she kissed him and it couldn’t have felt more perfect, all doubts were forgotten. this was their moment, nobody could destroy it. he took a shaky breath, but just one second later the snow globe fell from his hand, including the box, and it rolled across the floor. nothing was broken, but it still startled him a little. “sorry, i-” he said with a now red face, but then he had to laugh himself, that was so typical, so catastrophic and yet perfect—just like both of them were. “just, come here.” were his only words, because he could clean it up afterwards and talk to nevaeh about it, asking her why she had chosen all of this in the end. but right now, he just wanted to have her close to him and catch up on what he had missed. he put his hands on her cheeks, his lips on hers and he slowly let himself fall back on the bed, gently taking her with him. only when he was completely on his back did he put one hand on her hip and he gently moved her hair aside with the other. “i think you have no idea how much i missed you, i thought, i’ll go crazy without you.” he told her, his voice only a whisper, words that were only meant for her. without her, nothing felt right anymore. he pushed himself up slightly on the bed with his elbows and put a hand on the back of her neck while his lips focused on her neck, more precisely her collarbone, where he cleverly left a mark. he smiled and kissed the reddened area. “so that you can not forget me so easily.” he said it quietly, because dean was afraid of that most, that at some point he might just turn into a shadow in nevaeh’s life.
so easily she got lost in the sea of his arms. she never fought it either. simply allowed her arms to move with the tide instead of going against it. it was selfish of her to demand so much of him when she could only give so much of her. dean was deserving of someone whose attention could belong to him, and only him. nevaeh wanted to be that person. but how much longer would she have to pretend for the camera ? how much longer would he be willing to wait ? the sound of the box colliding with the floor pulls her from her thoughts. light giggle fall from her lips, but their quickly quieted by his simple request. he called for her, and she came. slowly lowering herself down with him. resting on her side comfortable with the help of her elbow keeping her up. a free hand rested on his shoulder, while a leg came up to lay across his waist. with neck exposed, she tilted her head to allow him better access. soft sounds of content slipping past her lips at the contact. “ i missed you too, dean. so very much. you were all i could think about. ” she responded immediately. the honesty unsurprising to her. a soft smile came with the knowing that he’d marked her. if she had to quietly be his, she had no qualms with that. “ as if i could ever forget you. ” her reminder came with her hand lowering him completely onto the bed while her own body shifted so that she straddled him. “ is it my turn, then ? ” she questioned playfully, but didn’t wait for an answer as she lowered herself down to him. “ tell me what you missed about me. ” she whispered before her lips attached themselves to his neck, working in the same way he had just worked her.
