A FRUSTRATED sight escapes his lips as he watches Bruce move in attempt to AVOID him and this ‘ pointless ’ conversation. The mention of the joker only made him more determined to keep him here because he knew how it ended each time,Bruce almost drove himself to the verge of OBSESSION every time a case involved the joker, and in the condition he’s in he knew he wasn’t going to win.the batman may not need Robin anymore but that wasn’t the reason that brought Dick here,he came because he CARED and no one is going to stop or force him to leave. ❛❛ Alright, let’s suppose you do find him, what then ?? He’s not going to give himself away just because you ask him nicely.no Bruce,he’s going to fight back, and even worse he might be even planning for you to come to him, you’re walking into a trap and you’re in no condition to fight.❞
❛❛ And we both know how far you’re willing to push yourself.❞ His tone SOFTENED, now taking a few steps to stand beside him ❛❛ Look, you’re not going anywhere with this..get some rest,I’ll stay here and look up whatever information I can find about him,I won’t go after him you have my word.just— please..take it easy, just for a little bit.❞
He was really going to give Bruce a hard time, wasn't he? A part of him wanted to go out there now just to be spiteful (even Bruce Wayne could be petty), to prove that he was fine, but that was no doubt going to cause him even more problems than fix. As much as he was determined to find the Joker, Bruce was an intelligent man who could easily see when his back was to the wall. If he took off now, even just to prove Dick wrong, the idiot was going to follow him and that increased the chances of him getting hurt. That wasn't something that Bruce wanted, no matter what Dick thought on how Bruce viewed him.
The words might not directly ever come out of his mouth, but Bruce did view him as family, much in the same way he viewed Alfred as family and not just the Butler he paid. So if it kept Dick here, he could stop and do more research into what was going on—then leave when Dick went somewhere else. After all, it wasn't like he was going to stay here forever, he had other things to do.
❝ Fine, if it makes you happy I'll do more research. ❞ Because resting was completely out of the question. Bruce returned back to the console and took a seat on the chair, bringing up the map of Gotham once more than monitored activity. ❝ How long are you staying? ❞
