Alright! Since it is very relevant around this time because of the things I see on my dash & from past experiences, here is some very friendly reminders & protips!
1) Read people’s rules! They put effort and time into drawing the lines within which they feel comfortable about their hobby. It is beyond unlikely that you will be an exception to anything on their list, so asking them anyways even after reading is terribly uncomfortable! Writing is and should stay a fun activity and shouldn’t become a stress factor.
2) Do not get close to people just for the sake of having them make you things! Be it icons, themes, any kind of graphics, roleplay advice, or ‘popularity’! People are not resources and if you treat them so they will most definitely notice it & will not LIKE it. Your friends can make you things but they are not for you to talk to only when you need stuff.
3) Do not resent people for taking their time! Its a human being with an actual life behind the screen & no one can be expected to rush or stress about not being late about a fun time activity. They may be having problems irl, they may be distracted, they may have muse for other things and many other reasons. Do not take it personal, do not blame, rush or guilt trip them.
4) Do not confront people if they have unfollowed you! It is beyond uncomfortable for each side. Unless you are absolutely sure there has been a mistake or a glitch, do not ASK people why they have unfollowed you.
5) Do not like starter calls or plotting calls unless you actually intend on replying! People spend time & effort on those and it is disheartening beyond measure when they go unnoticed. If you think the starter is not SUITABLE or fit for you or your muse, instead of ignoring it altogether contact the owner of the blog!
6) Do not judge people about how they want to run their own blog! If someone is exclusive, private, selective or mutuals only, it is their decision and you should respect it as it is. Do not try to teach people what they should do about their own comfort zones.
7) Do not copy people’s work! Be it graphic related or writing. Do not make their efforts into nothing, be your own special snowflake!
8) Having a beautiful theme does not mean being a good blog and vice versa.
9) Do not compare muses! For yourself or others! That is meaningless and a tad rude. Everyone has a different understanding and a different interpretation.
10) Don’t be so angry! Not everything is a debate! Everyone can make mistakes, everyone can mess things up. Do not label people, do not hate, do not be so ready to attack. Nobody has to like anyone but everyone should at least have the decency to respect each other.
11) If you decide you are somehow not comfortable with someone or how they write their muse, do nothing else but unfollow them unless you wish to give positive criticism, even which can be displeasing if unwanted.
12) Remember that this a HOBBY, a fun time activity! Do not turn it into a stress factor, for yourself and the others!
