when you probably have hip dysplasia and your owner thinks it's funny
I feel so sorry for responsible people in the French Bulldog breed right now while it's being taken advantage of for this 'magic rare blue colour' fad.
I'll consider fad breeders responsible when they start testing for health, not for it's colour genetics thus how much they can sell it for.
Congratulations to Miley Cyrus for getting her new Shetland Sheepdog puppy from a responsible breeder who health tests their dogs.
Thank you for setting a good example and learning from past experiences of getting dogs from dodgy 'puppy boutique' pet stores. :D
Well this is a new one...
'2 blue merlin french bulldog bitches 9 months old comes with 5 generation pedigree. kc papers. all up to date injections and wormed. excellent temperament. the breed is out of Merlin. 1 girl is solid blue. the other is solid blue with a small crest on chest. The pups have to be rehomed through no fault of there own they are 2 beautiful girls. the reason for sale is our youngest son has been diagnosed with sever epilepsy so we have no time to give them. for anymore information call me.'
Wow... overused excuse much? And 'the breed is out of Merlin'? Wtf does that mean?
You're so passionate about how people treat their dogs I love it. You must hate how Jenna Marbles treats her dogs.
Thank you! :D
I just had to quickly look her up because I completely forgot who that is but yeah her dogs look stressed out most of the time.
She has literally a 2 part series about “how to annoy your dogs” and her dogs are miserable pretty much the whole way through (except for the peanut butter part haha). Mucking around with your dogs is okay but when their tails are tucked, they’re constantly throwing out appeasement signals (whale eye, lip licking, turning head) then STOP.
Italian Greyhounds are generally really timid dogs who need a gentle, understanding person to take care of them. Not thrown in front of a camera and poked and prodded at for laughs. And I cannot find a single image of her with a happy dog, it’s ridiculous.
Fear grimace (not a smile ugh anthropomorphism), squinty eyes, ears back = not happy, does not like personal space being invaded.
Yawning, slight eye aversion = more appeasement signals - stop
Ears back, tail tucked, eyes wide, tight lips - stoP DRUMMING ON YOUR DOG, he’s very uncomfortable.
Ears back, tail tucked - can you NOT grab that dog’s tail thanks
As a Youtube personality, you have a certain obligation to your audience to not be a bad influence. And laughing at your dog’s appeasement behaviours is such a shitty thing to do. And a horrible influence. Respecting your dog’s space and limits is so important - these dogs look one trigger away from biting. Not that they would do much damage, because oh haha silly little dog being so cute and aggressive. I hate it when people treat their dogs like this, you are completely exerting your power over them on a whim because you know they can’t do much about it.
I’ve got no issue with Jenna Marbles as a person but I do have an issue with how she treats her dogs.
in tonight’s episode of people who should not have companion animals
This is too many “cute” or “funny” dog videos/gifs.
See also the “smile” post.
They have bit her in videos before. She thought it was 'funny'.
Accurate description for a JRT.
Everyone wants to pick me up I think my name is “Aw”
No I think It's name is 'Ouch, I'll be dead by 3 because I'm a 'teacup' puppymill dog bred for looks with no regard for health'
This is not cute in any way.
http://www.barktopia.com/teacup.htm
And I hope that's been photoshopped because that's probably the most horrific looking Toy Poodle I've ever seen.
This is what a toy poodle puppy should look like. Its eyes shouldn't look like they're trying to escape from its head.

Thinking of getting a dog? Know someone who might be? Please read this first. I’m a vet. Some details changed or omitted for anonymity purposes and because I’ll get flamed for this. Today a man brought his dog in to me. The dog was a large, boisterous adolescent puppy. He hurtled into the room, bouncing up to me excitedly, wagging his tail all the time and nudging at my hand with his muzzle. His big squishy paws crashed against my chest each time he paused to greet me, as he bounded around the room investigating all the smells. He was an unusual cross, very striking to look at and obviously a bright and energetic dog. He was adorable. The history went like this: The dog had been bought as a tiny puppy by a couple who were told it was a “designer” cross between two specific small breeds. Now, if the people who bought this puppy had had the slightest inkling about what they were doing it would have been immediately obvious to them that this was most certainly not a cross between two small breeds. But anyway, they didn’t have a clue so they bought the cute little puppy from this dubious source (probably at a cost of several hundred pounds) and took it back to their family home, complete with toddler. The dog grew a bit and it became clear that it was actually going to be really big. It was bouncy, energetic and destructive. It kept racing around and knocking over their small child. So they rehomed it to a family member. The family member also had children but they were slightly bigger children. The family member really wanted to do the right thing, so they tried to “discipline” the dog. The dog began to show occasional signs of aggression and was completely hyperactive in the home, destructive and unmanageable. I was not surprised to hear this, since it was obvious to me from this dog’s heritage that it was the sort of dog which had significant needs in terms of exercise and stimulation. In an attempt to magically resolve the issues the family member had the dog neutered. Which unsurprisingly made no difference. Today the dog was brought in to be put to sleep. It had growled very aggressively when a child had put its face near his, and between this and an imminent change in circumstances the family member felt unable to manage the dog any more. He had tried local and national rescue organisations, all of which were full. He had nobody to care for the dog overnight tonight. He was not able to take the dog home, partly because of safety concerns and partly because the decision had been taken together as a family that it was the right thing to do. So I put this healthy, affectionate, vibrant dog to sleep while it munched on treats and the third owner in its short life cried into his fur. Then when it was just me and the body of this poor puppy I had a good old cry myself. I know there will be people who think I was right to put down a dog who has shown any signs of aggression under any circumstances. I disagree. I know there will be people who think I was wrong to put down a dog when I could have taken it and found it a new home. I disagree. I also know that there will be many many people who have no idea that this is happening all the time in this country because of irresponsible ignorant greedy people, selling dogs to irresponsible ignorant feckless people, who then pass them on to naive and thoughtless “rescuers” who eventually get to the end of their tether and bring them to me for euthanasia. All the time. These are the dogs who bite children in the home due to a total lack of knowledge, reasonable expectations and effort to socialise them adequately. These are the dogs whose owners can afford four figure sums to buy the latest random mongrel “breed” with a stupid made-up name, but cannot afford fifty quid to get it vaccinated, far less any money at all to treat even minor illnesses. These are the dogs who clog up rescue centres all over the country, waiting along with thousands and thousands of others for the home with no children, no other pets and eight-foot fences, with an owner who has experience of managing behavioural problems, works from home, has stainless steel furniture and can write blank cheques to pay for the inherited illnesses the dog suffers from. Homes which don’t actually exist. These are the dogs who I have to put down because I know that it is more responsible of me to painlessly take their life than to condemn them to wait with the rest of the enormous population of “difficult” dogs sitting in rescue kennels all over the country. Please, please, I implore you. Get advice before you take on a dog - from a vet, a qualified positive behaviourist, the Kennel Club, the Blue Cross, the Dog’s Trust, the RSPCA - the information is there for the taking, there is no excuse. Go to a decent breeder, who has a waiting list, or a rescue centre which really grills you thoroughly before matching you with a pet. Find out how to bring your puppies up properly so if you do find your circumstances change then at least they are rehomable. Make sure you can afford to pay for the unexpected. Make sure your expectations are fair. Please, because I can’t keep having to do this

Dear person I was facebook friends with until recently.
Do not pretend you care about the dogs in shelters, you've put several there yourself. I'm suprised they let you adopt from them to be honest. They mustn't be very good at vetting new owners.
As far as I know you've dumped a westie, a JRT, a GSD, a Great Dane and a Golden Retriever. One thing doesn't make up for that.
You currently have a Lab and a female (unneutered) Hound x you 'saved' from this shelter. In the space of a week this dog has got out and went missing twice, because you're too stupid to close a door or put a gate up. Apparently one of these times she chewed through a lead? REALLY? What were you doing to not notice that???
You don't deserve this dog or any dog for that matter.
My friends dogs were stolen in Mabank, Texas a few days ago! Misha is a 3 1/2 year old intact female Siberian Husky, gray/white with brown eyes. Tux is a 2 year old intact male Siberian Husky, black/white with brown eyes. Vino is a 1 year old NEUTERED male Siberian Husky, black/white with brown eyes.
Tux was recently found dumped in someones fenced in yard 20 miles from where he was taken, but Misha and Vino are still missing!
Heartbreaking. Please help find these sweet babies!!
WOO Misha has been found! But Vino is still missing! Apparently the person who stole them sold Misha to a woman and a neighbor recognized her from this flyer when she was in the woman’s yard.
Neutering Dogs. In Depth | Doglistener
Stan Rawlinson aka Doglistener explains what problems can be caused by Neutering your dogs and why you must read this before you decide on Spaying and Castration plus the use of Suprelorin.
Sweden does not have a dog roaming problem, nor does it have dog overpopulation or lots of rescue animals in kennels. Yet we are constantly told by the neuter everything crowd, that it is the un-neutered dogs that are causing the problem. Over 95% of all domestic dogs in Sweden are not neutered.
Sweden has VERY strict animal laws, and therefore they have minimal problems with pet overpopulation. In my opinion the top two contributors to the problem (besides lack of education) is:
1. Pet Stores
2. Backstreet Breeders.
In Sweden those two problems have been resolved by:
1. You are not (nor have ever been) allowed to sell cats or dogs in pet stores. That is left to certified breeders ONLY. That way the spur-of-the-moment purchases of dogs and cats are eliminated. It also means that the buyer is scrutinized before being allowed to buy any pet.
2. Only CERTIFIED breeders are allowed to breed. There are extremely strict laws with hefty fines if not followed, regarding dog breeding. The breeder is financially responsible for the health of the pup for it's first 3 years. That completely eliminates backyard breeders and puppy-farms that breed for profit, not health. Under these circumstances It would no longer be financially viable or feasible to breed.
I believe that places like the UK and America, should take note. Instead of mutilating tiny puppies, and affecting the behaviour and health of their immature pets, they should demand stronger breeding laws.
(Emphasis added by me.)
Anecdotal discussion of the effects of early spay/neutering combined with a useful reference list.
Calico Labrador
this is the coolest fucking dog ive ever seen
They’re really neat! They’re against the breed standard though, and are generally rare for anyone who’s not a backyard breeder/accidental litter. Black/Yellow are the bad combination for these dogs uwu. Black/Chocolate and Chocolate/Yellow are the mixes you can get solid colored pups with I believe.
Honestly, this looks more like a chimeric-mutation to me. A chimera/mosaic is where two zygotes (two fertilised egg cells) or four early embryo cells with genetically distinct DNA fuse to create a single organism. The effects of this produce animals with a mosaic of phenotype-features.
So, say you take a sample from a black-part of the dog and a sample from the yellow-part. Each part would have a different genetic-sequence.
I’m explaining this badly but yeah: mosaicism
The other possible explanation is somatic mutation.
Super cute dog!
A+ understanding of heredity.
Yeah, this isn’t something that you can specifically breed for. It’s one of those weird freak of nature that just happens and can’t be replicated. They’ve tried. All they found was that if the dogs had black testicles, they fathered black puppies, and yellow testicles fathered yellow puppies.
tumblr user exactlyasplanned’s comment kills me every time "rare for anyone who’s not a backyard breeder" rly now
maybe somebody lied spectacularly to you? or am i missing a joke? i’m genuinely curious
Wow... Most show breeders avoid yellow/chocolate since yellows with chocolate pigment are faulted for some reason.

'HOME BREAD PUPS'
SERIOUSLY
what type of bread are they? White, wholemeal?
'I have up for rehoming a stunning boy I rescued from a disgusting hovel he was riddled with fleas and worms I don't have proof of vaccines but I have fleaed and wormed him and had a vet check and he's a happy healthy boy he can be funny with male dogs but he is good with bitches he's so loving and fully house trained the problem is my bitch has taken a dislike to him. he has had 4 healthy litters of puppies he doesn't mess about he knows exactly what he's doing and loves it he's fantastic with children he is 20months old he loves a bath :) anymore info gimme a call text or email anytime xx he comes with everything I have bought him all nearly brand new a food bowl place may some toys a coat a reflective harness and his new glow in the dark collar he doesn't have a lead though as I'm using my spare one which is needed he has over 50pounds worth of stuff with him and he has had a 35 pound vet check along with the flea and worming treatment which was stronghold and drontal at 20pounds and I paid 100 for him so this is not in profit I genuinely can no longer keep him due to my girl being an arse with him and we don't really have the space for him I just needed to get him out of the disgrace of a house he was in and get him checked a decent meal and a warm loving fresh smelling home I just could not leave him in that home xxx'
Yes how very responsible of you to get a dog from some disgusting BYB/puppy farmer, with no vacccination history, breed them 4 times yourself without health testing, and then sell them on because you're too lazy to train them.
Cherry eye is not a defect now apparently.
Why on earth would you tell people? Isn't that something you lot would usually keep quiet?
And your dog does not 'need proving'
So at the beginning of this year the Russell Terrier breed was recognised by the AKC. Most of the dogs I was used to seeing were pretty natural looking in their grooming.
And then suddenly BAM! Teddybear faces and sculpted legs everywhere, dogs looking like shrunken WFTs. It’s even in the breed standard ‘Coats are preferably natural and unaltered…The terrier is shown in its natural coat with minimal grooming. Sculpted furnishings are to be severely penalized.’
Hairspray, chalk, hairpieces, dye, and other ways of modifying the coat are also supposed to be penalized or disqualified, but that doesn’t stop it from being default in many breeds.
Unfortunately... It's sad some people feel the need to to cheat the system to win ribbons.
