"Someone please do something amusing or I will go mad!" Alyssa said as she rolled her eyes a bit. "Since when was New York so boring?"
"I think that the 'city that never sleeps' finally had to catch up getting it's sleep after all. " Atticus shrugged, looking all around him. "Either that or there's been an apocalypse I haven't been aware of."
Harvey smiled and nodded understanding Atticus’ words. Hopefully he had fallen for it all, decided to take the honesty and mix it with a little bit of truth. He wanted the man to be on his side, to be on the winning one when the day ended. “No problem.” he said in return, wishing that Atticus was his son, that he could have created a human-like being and not simply monsters. All his other children where monsters and would never make human form, or at least that’s what he thought.
Atticus let out a breathe. Picking up his glass of beer to take the last remaining liquid from it and drink it all up before he put it down again, sitting up straight to pick up his bag. "It was good seeing you again, Harvey." He told him, getting up from his seat. "I'm sure we'll cross our ways again soon enough."

The brunette couldn’t avoid letting a laugh escape from her red lips. Finally, she felt like everything was on it’s place: her love was agreeing about sleeping with her for the night, and she couldn’t feel more happy about anything. Even still suspicious about why he didn’t contact her for so long, she tried her best to let the bad thoughts hidden inside her head.

Being close to Hazel had it’s benefits. Thanks to her, Irene’s house was located in one of the nicest neighborhood, that kind where you can come home in the middle of the night without feeling anxious about it. Irene lived in the only apartament in her street, on the last floor, the roofing. The decoration was previously based on vintage, but since she had a lot of free time the last weeks, she had changed it all to something more minimalist, nearly aesthetical. All her furniture was white, she had the walls painted in the same colour, and even her closet was changed to fit the new lifestyle. It comes a time when you are so involved to colours, that when you are at home nearly sleeping, the only thing you want to see is the absense of them. And it kind of pleasant Irene. She was just nervous about the impact it would have over Atticus. When they arrived the doorstep of the number 1205, she looked over the man standing beside her, and said to him in a soft tone of voice.
- I made some changes. You can make yourself comfortable while I prepare us a drink. Would you prefer champagne or something… stronger?
As she said so, her fingers intertwined the knob and she opened the door to her apartment.
"Now that's a dare I cannot resist." He smirked, sitting back straight in his seat, putting on the seatbelt and telling her to do the same.
He had never really fit in here for the past few decades but whenever he was in the ring or driving fast he felt invincible, strong. No one to test his limits, no one to judge him, not even the police, he had always managed to slip right passed them and he never had a big ticket, surprisingly enough. He stepped on the throttle, making way out of the alley with a sharp turn that a car honked while stepping on the brake and Atticus only laughed, speeding off towards her house.
As she lived in one of the nicest and most expensive neighbourhoods it took a while to reach from the centre of New York and once he was there he parked his car a few houses away, following her to her apartment in silence, quite curious how it looked like for he knew she had a habit of changing things. He dared to bet on it she had changed things again and he had to hide a smirk when she said she made 'some changes'.
"I'll have whatever you have." He said, looking at the apartment as soon as they were inside. It looked rather nice. Calm, tidy. It defined her in a way and there was nothing at all too dislike. The only thing he missed was her in nothing but a night robe on the couch waiting for him. The thought alone made him smirk again as he shrugged out of his jacket, leaving him only in a turtle neck black sweater wound tight around his body, sitting down on the couch.
"I like what you did to the place. Very much." He said when she walked into the living room, holding out his hand towards her to pull her on his lap after she had put down the glasses."
She had to admit, he really did scared her. Alyssa was really focus into her book and literally closed off everything that was surrounding her. The woman paused and look at Atticus for awhile. It brought back so many memories and it was overwhelming to think that it was such a long time ago when she was back home and this is where she is at now. Only the gods know how long they last spoke. And it’s been such a long time that Alyssa can’t even remember. “Sorry about that,” She said with slight hesitation. ”I reckon anybody will act the same way if out of know where someone touched you when you were really focused into something. Or probably that’s just me.” She added on as she rolled her eyes a bit. Alyssa noticed that he was eyeing her book and thought about how to explain herself. She held the book more up to her face. ”Yeah just reading to get back some memory. After so many years, you tend to forget things. In my case, a lot of things.”
"Yes, probably true, though it wasn't like I grabbed you, you know?" He smiled at her in a crooked way. She was right and he hadn't thought it might startle or scare her. Surely he had thought that the mighty Athena wasn't afraid of anything, but then again times changed and spending time on earth had even made him some more humane. "You forgot?" By that he was amazed. How was she able to forget? Daughter of Zeus, daughter of wisdom. Even he knew everything of his entire life. Too much information probably had it's effect eventually. "I wish I could forget, I still know everything. Every moment, every word I said." He sighed, looking up at the sky as if he was hoping to see Mount Olympus. "I guess it's both nice and frustrating to forget things."
She hoped it hurt him. She hoped the indifference she was painting on her face made him turn away, because she couldn’t stand him looking at her like that. Like he might find her old self, or him, somewhere in the depths of her eyes. “Harvey - ” She paused, feeling strange reciting his human name. “Hades has never been one to trust, but he knows about something that might be a danger to us.”
She faltered a moment as she looked at him, feeling as though she was submerged in water and her limbs were weak and heavy. “I don’t know if he’s behind it, what he knows, or if he’s bluffing, but I don’t want to take any chances. Whatever these things are, I want to be prepared. And if the time comes, I want to destroy them.” How different she was now; his once golden girl, the goddess who had basked in silk and soft kisses, speaking of battle and death. Perhaps he had rubbed off on her. Alice locked her eyes on his, making clear what she wanted was him - although not in the way he was used to. “For all the time I’ve lived, I’ve never known a man more adept at battle.” It was strange, asking him so coolly for his protection, when once it would have been granted - assured - without a word. Even stranger that she should come to him as a shield against violence her secret lover might bring upon her. But still she looked at him, spine straight, face unmoving, asking him to take up his mantle as warmonger once more.
He had to admit she had piqued his interest when she mentioned their uncle, even though he knew that Harvey and Alice had their moments and he was envious of that however he didn't speak a words, letting her continue to speak and he would listen, slightly tilting his head when she mentioned a certain danger.
"You want to destroy them?" He finally spoke, somehow not believing she would actually destroy anyone or anything for that matter. She might be fucked up now, to put it that way, but he couldn't imagine her doing that. Perhaps he had, had a certain influence on her indeed and it only made him feel worse. But he wasn't sure where she went with this and where he came in, but when she spoke again it became clear. He smiled, watching her as she spoke before he started laughing in a husky chuckle. "You're asking me to destroy instead of yourself? I see now." He uttered, stepping away from the car so he no longer leaned against it. "Why won't you ask Harvey? Or Zachary? You're good buddies with them anyhow. Why me?"
Harvey’s mask more or less dropped as he asked why he would have taken better care of him, and for some reason Harvey let the answer be the truth and slip without thinking. “Because they abandoned me too.” he turned to Atticus and wondered if the man ever had realized, just how alone and forgotten Harvey had been by his brothers and family. They had all left him- him and the other gods which weren’t looked upon as great heroes or beautiful. He hated that, how just a simple thing as death made you the greatest villain in history. “But hey, you are not mine.” he said in more mocking tone again, wanting to cover up his more or less revolitionary honesty.
Atticus stared in front of him as Harvey spoke. He knew that the two of them had always been the ones rejected by their supposed family but at least he wasn't banned to earth or the underworld, like Hades was. Only glancing up at him again when he spoke once more, trying to cover up what he said before by the way he spoke but Atticus wasn't that much of a fool. He took a breath before nodding slowly. "Thank you." He softly said, looking at him again from the corner of his eye. "For not having taken me for granted. Even if I'm just.. you know, not yours."
“Well, I am not like most other women,” she said honestly, letting her hands drop lazily to the soft ribbon of the cinch of her silk robe, toying with it as she listened to the jazz music play in the background. She had never been particularly close to Ares, now known as Atticus, and out of all the Gods she had met, she could safely say she favored him over the rest. There was something distinguishable about him, something worth spending more than a mere moment on- but she had no desire to fool around with him as she did most other attractive men she met. “Oh yes, dead bodies I imagine would prove to be an inconvenience to the overall fun of the game,” she said smirking. “But I think I could give you a run for your money,” she winked. “Freedom…and even on the days that I have it, I still look for it.”
"No. No you most certainly are not." he chuckled amused, shoulders shuddering from the soft laughter. It was a shame he had never met the princess before when they were original in their days and not thought of as extinct. He heard of her beauty and her kindness and it was probably because of Aphrodite that he hadn't come down and meet her in person, who knew what would have happened if he had. "Yes so do I, only imagine." he snickers, nodding once before he looked into the distance, listening to her words. "No one ever truly has freedom. Not even when you stand on the top of the world."

She smiled, feeling full for listening this request. No other thing in the world would make her more happy than listening to it, his wish to spend the rest of the night with her. Irene hugged him, hiding her face on his neck, smelling the wonderful scent he exhaled.
He smiled at her words, tracing his fingertips over her soft cheek before pressing a peck on her lips. It was nice for a change to have someone caring about him, loving him even, if that was this was. But he felt comfortable around her. These days, or better said, these years he wasn't so certain what his goal was. What he had to do, so he just brawled and fought. With Irene he felt like none of that was needed.
"Thank you." He smiled once more, closing his eyes the moment she hid her face in his neck, resting his head against hers and sat like that for a few minutes until he raised himself up straight again, taking her face in between his hands to press a few pecks onto her lips after another.
"Shall we get going then before we get ourselves arrested anyhow? "
She felt sick. His presence had made her quiver, being near him had faltered her resolve and she had indulged in him as if he was chocolate or ambrosia or drugs - now she was feeling the effects. This kind of closeness didn’t mesh well with her new persona, her new life; her hard, armoured core rejected this tenderness as if it was a foreign substance invading her immune system. And she felt ill over how she had melted into him; shown him the soft underside of her belly with just a few words from his practiced mouth. She was weak, and it disgusted her. Alice listened to what he said but did not move, recalling the times she had done exactly what he described; and when the roles had reversed.
When he pulled away, that was enough. There had been a time when neither would have unraveled from the other for anything, and the cold air reminded her what she was. Immaterial, cruel, uncatchable. When she looked back up, her eyes were polished black obsidian. “No. I came here to ask you something.” She stepped away from him, half to prove he had no hold on her - the other half to keep her far enough away that she wouldn’t touch him again. She crossed her arms over her chest for the same reason. “I require assistance, and you’re the best candidate for the job.”
"Did you now?" he stated. More for himself for he couldn't believe he was so stupid into thinking she had actually come to have a nice chat with him. So he leaned against the side of the car again, fidgetting with his car keys in his hand, a ring around his finger so he could toss the keys back and forth against his hand. "Then please do tell me, what is it you had in store for me?" It was strange how one moment he could be all head over heels with her, feeling like he couldn't breathe when she was so close and even now he could still feel his lips tickle from when they had just kissed. And now he felt like there was a wall between them. Dividing them from miles away, or rather that she was suffocating him with her words. "Always nice to know I'm the best candidate."
Harvey couldn’t help the chuckle which left his lips as Atticus called it as spoilers. It only made him more sure of the fact that the child of Zeus had finally seen reason in his own fathers unloving heart. Had he himself had children- humanlike and not creatures who was locked up- he would have been a greater father, making sure they could live in this treacherous world as kings and queens and not mere humans without money in their pockets. “I would not have taken you for granted.” he said in a stern voice which was more calm and soothing than anything. Unfortunately, Atticus wasn’t his son- he was his brothers and he wouldn’t even think about accepting him as his own unless it would make his brother hurt. All he ever wanted- was to make them all suffer for letting him rot in the underworld.
"Have I ever been taken for granted?" He asked in a rhetorical question as a chuckle slipped over his lips. Well at least Harvey was honest to him, unlike his father and mother. Though it might be seen as an insult, Atticus couldn't care less. He had more or less always been his own man, at least if you didn't count along his encounters with other goddesses. "Why would it be any differently if you hadn't taken me for granted, as my parents both never had, hmm? Surely because the King of Hell would think so things would be better, or worse? " He whispered his title due to their surroundings. People would either grow suspicious or think they were crazy talking about mythology like that. Or if they were lucky it was someone that was a strong believer in God and they might think he was talking of Satan. Fun.

It was Alyssa’s break and she decided to have a relaxful afternoon. After a quite eventful weekend that was pretty much all a blur, she wanted to stay focus and think about something other than her weekend. Alyssa was wearing a navy blue coat that was done to her lower thigh and black high heels, pretty formal because she was going back to work for an important meeting. As she walked, she carried her red purse and a novel. Once she has gotten to the bench, she sat down and crossed her legs and opened the book. The book was about Greek Mythology, basically she enjoyed reading about herself. But also a lot of stuff she’s been reading she have forgotten but regain that memory by reading. As she was reading, a touch on her shoulder disturbed her. But who in the world thinks they can touch her. Alyssa closed her book and uncrossed her legs. ”How dare you touch me!” Alyssa said as she stood up, not exactly knowing who she was talking too since the person’s face was being blocked from the sunlight. But changing positions, she recognized the face. Someone she once knew, someone she once hated and forgotten. ”Atticus? Is that you?”
The moment Alyssa raised her voice and jumped up on her feet he instantly pulled back his hand. She knew it wasn't smart to raise her voice against him but he for now remained to be silent. After all he did just startle her and he should have known better. It was Athena after all, proud and self centred in a way the books never mentioned. He just pressed his lips together, placing his hands on his hips while she repositioned herself and only then seemed to recognize him. "The very same, your highness." he said with a twinge of sarcasm to his voice until he shrugged off the bad boy appearance, motioning to her book with his hand. "I thought you were crying or something. I hadn't seen the book you were reading. Sorry if I disturbed you." It was no surprise he never liked saying sorry. It made him seem weak and the submissive one. But he wasn't in the mood to pick a fight with Athena. Not since in their past they had all those things going on. Even though he wanted to forget parts from his past, he remembered everything.
Atticus moved himself through a crowded space. Eyes set straight forwards, letting it all slip passed him. Ignoring those who wanted to try and sell him things, hand him down flyers and invitations. His mind was all blank after his encounter with someone of his past and it left him rather distraught. Actually that much that when eventually he looked around him he saw he was in one of the more quieter parts of New York. Barely anyone shared the street with him, barely, for when he looked over his shoulder he saw someone sitting on a wooden bench, head down, golden hair falling aside of her face like a curtain. But even then did he recognize the person. In the past, he would just have turned around again and kept on walking, but now he felt like he had to go and see. It was nothing like her to sit in a position that closed and small. So when he stood besides her, he held out his hand hesitantly before resting it upon her shoulder. "Alyssa?"
