i think what i disliked the most was the fact that they rly used will as a plot device to push m1leven together bc mike quite literally said meeting el was just dumb luck and it was WILL who reassured him that el needed him (even if he was rly talking about himself) and mike was about to give up in the tub scene but WILL was the reason he even said his whole ily speech, they couldve done anything else but ofc they had to make will the most selfless character yet also the one suffering the most in multiple MULTIPLE ways.
if u think about it, mike was being weird for most of s4 and it just doesnt make sense for him not to even notice will crying in the car when his eyes were tearing up and it was as if mike just didnt wanna see, plus when will lied about the painting saying el was the one who commissioned it? when in el’s letter she didnt know what the painting was? is mike rly that dumb be honest
nah bc the tender emotional music, the MULTIPLE heart to heart talks, the little looks, the more subtle hints of interpretation or even the short moment at the end where jopper, jancy and byler were standing together but only jopper and jancy were holding hands like yes these may be little things but its little things that make a big deal. they didnt have to do that or add those things, they dont have to make will the sad gay character that has a crush on his best friend but they did !! and the LEAST they could do is give him a coming out scene but even at that they failed. the point isnt byler, thats a side point bc the cast in their interviews and the duffer brothers and even netflix accs kept making byler a big thing, they WERE queerbaiting. the bigger and main point is will’s sexuality and how they failed to portray it well and instead USED will’s feelings to strengthen m!levens rs like the fact that it was will who kept reassuring mike just so he wouldnt give up on el??? fkn BULLSHIT. so yes, sorry if we’re disappointed.
