Honestly, at this point, I would’ve respected the show far more if they’d had the courage to commit to the clean, impactful deaths of two or three main characters. Instead, we’re left with a lazy, cowardly ambiguity—so unclear that we don’t even know whether El is dead or not. On top of that, they systematically dismantled every meaningful ship, drained all emotional payoff from the relationships, and handed out the bleakest, most joyless endings imaginable to characters people actually cared about. It’s impressive, in a way, how thoroughly they managed to undercut their own story. Congratulations, Duffs—you didn’t just end the show, you hollowed it out.
