the lost potential of what stranger things 5 could’ve been is so sad to me. the incredible plot they could’ve fleshed out and closed off based on the paths that s4 carved. it could’ve been apocalyptic. they could’ve played more with the time stuff. mike could’ve gotten vecna’d. will could’ve built for vecna. the painting reveal could’ve been one of the best emotional beats of the show, along with what was in max’s s4 letters. the “springtime snowflakes” could’ve actually done something to the characters. el could’ve finally had the chance to truly be her own person. lucas could’ve gotten his own solo storyline. they could’ve dove deeper into the characters’ trauma and how vecna wielded it. the final battle could’ve been more psychological than physical. mike and will’s love for each other could’ve been crucial to winning that battle. the stakes and angst could’ve been so much higher, which would’ve made the conclusion feel that much more rewarding.

i’m just sad.
