I think my own personal favorite parts of this art are first of all all the poses and how dynamic they are. I used a bunch of reference pictures for this one (and changed/added some of my own stuff to some of them) and I feel like whenever I do that it always turns out so nice and looking very lived in. Like just in general I'm so proud whenever my art doesn't look stiff and instead is so full of movement and I think that worked out really well here. I also love the detail of Will pulling up Mike's sweater while Mike is leaning over him and the way they're like ear to ear in that drawing and how you can see a bit of Will's hair peek out behind Mike's sweater. Also the way you can see Will's stomach peek out between their legs. Another part I love is the way Mike is basically sitting On Will's stomach in the middle left drawing and similarly to the hair, Will's knees peeking out behind Mike a little. I also like Will's sketchbook design that he painted on it himself AND I'm very proud of the shadow under the sketchbook, like the way the sketchbook throws a shadow onto the couch. It's only a small thing but I like what it does for the perspective <3 Also in that bottom drawing Mike has his one leg kinda crossed under the outstreched one. Idk if that is understandable how I'm describing it but yeah. I also love the little stars at the top and Mike's open mouth there, plus his foggy glasses look so cute and his hair is supposed to be like wet with sweat. Also a detail that probably nobody would notice if I didn't point it out is that I made Will's hair a little longer in the back, so that it peeks out more and covers more of his neck simply cause I think that would look so so cute and pretty on him!!<3 also in the drawing where they kiss I wanted it to look like Will is pulling up Mike's sweater to undress him, that's why I wrote the "pull up" there lol. Also Mike in Will's lap!!! I love that!!!!! Makes me very happy ^^

Lastly I'm seriously just so so in love with the colors and how vibrant they are, it makes it all looks so nice and bright but also still intimate cause of the shadows. Also I'm really proud of how the colors blend into each other a lot, especially for the background. I think it makes it look nice because everything else is so full and so the background being just one plain color wouldn't have looked good. Like it would have looked empty in comparison to the rest. And the way I drew it here it also gives the drawing so much nice texture. Yeah, I'm just very proud of the colors <33

Bonus: the two color palettes I mainly used for this one and the ones I've just in general been using a lot for my byler fanart <33

Basically all the colors except for hair and skin are from one of these two palettes (especially the bottom one). Also the elmax one is one I use for El and Max as well whenever I draw them cause I think it fits them :>

look i love love love lesbyler mood/outfit boards as much as the next hopeless saphic but . i think we must relise we are giving them wayyy to high effort outfits. Mike Wheeler is out here throwing on clothes he found on the floor (cough season 4 cough) and i feel like while Michelle's outfits might be more put together, she would be very similar and Mike's more androgynous alt style in season 4 should be paralleled by a more masc style for Michelle. she probably wouldn't be wearing super high fem alt clothes in her more rebellious era. that being said the airport fit shpuld be fem, bc shes trying to play at normal. on a similar wavelength, the Byers are definitely still poor, so Willow would end up with a lot of more masc clothing from her brother (or alternatively, if we genderbend Jonathan aswell, her clothing might be more feminine, and her performance of feminine traits would be over emphasized. this also really just depends on how far we genderbend the characters bc in my opinion a lot of Wills gender expression is tied to his family) but if we are interpreting this as just the party being genderbent then willow would end up pretty masc, mabey being bullied for being a "d*ke" as opposed to an overly fem guy and in turn a "f*g". anyway, that is to say she probably wouldn't wear really high effort pintrest core outfits, and dress more like joyce in jeans and flannel.

all to say, genderbends are in good fun, and all of your takes are valid, and it really isn't that serious, but i think that genderbending byler is such a interesting concept and theirs a lot of untapped potential and depth in the outfits and style of the characters! lmk if i missed something in the comments or tags bc i think this is really interesting :]

Alright, so aside that both of them get the gayest haircut possible as soon as they start college, I think they would also be more inclined to be "boyish" even growing up.

I saw some people talk about how Willow would be the perfect mirror to Will as in she gets bullied for being too masculine (as opposed to Will for being "feminine"). Maybe that masculinity developed as a shield (?) because of Lonnie. Also having a lot of hand-me-downs or clothes from charity doesn't give you many options so she's kind of forced to wear whatever they can afford.

Mitch grew up with two brothers so that had an impact on her style and overall how she holds herself. With that hc I'm kind of taking a friend IRL as an example so sorry if it's stereotypical, but I literally have a walking breathing reference around me LMFAO I also think that she is a bit more lazy when it comes to clothes so it can come off as more careless and masc when she wears the same baggy jeans every day. Willow fixes that in college. But yeah

I could go on and on about their styles and I have many more hcs but I think the big picture would be that both of them are androgynous.

My biggest pet peeve in queer media is that even queer people tend to put gay characters in a heteronormative roles. So I'm just trying to break away from that. ESPECIALLY from Will/Willow being perceived as the "girl" in their relationship
