“i will have you know interrupting a woman’s bath is extremely rude.” the moon goddess spoke, raising her eyebrows as her body rested in the warm water. she had learned the enjoy warmth – the moon was far too cold, and the heat was something rather new to selene. “may i know why you are here?”
“i will have you know interrupting a woman’s bath is extremely rude.” the moon goddess spoke, raising her eyebrows as her body rested in the warm water. she had learned the enjoy warmth -- the moon was far too cold, and the heat was something rather new to selene. “may i know why you are here?”
“I- I’m only surprised, my love. I… I had never thought you’d be dreaming of such a thing. What a beautiful dream you’ve been having.” The goddess whispered, truly meaning her words. Part of her wished she could have had a look into the man’s mind, and maybe then she would have been able to have a perfect picture of the life he had wished they would have. At the abnormally large number, a small giggle escaped Selene’s soft, rosy lips, and she raised her eyebrows at Endymion. “Fifty? So many, beloved. What if my body fails me?” She questioned, almost as if she had already decided to give him fifty children, just like he had dreamed of. Gently brushing away his tears, Selene cupped her lover’s cheeks and brought his face to hers. “I should be the one thanking you, thanking you for loving me.” She whispered, letting out a warm breath before speaking quietly once more. “I miss the taste of your lips.”
“… M-Married?” The word escaped her lips quiet and slowly, almost as if it had been a curse of some sorts. She was the Stainless Queen of the Night, as pure as stardust, and yet she could see herself wanting Endymion to make her his wife. She would be whatever he wished her to be. Her quivering lips curled upwards into a smile, and the goddess let out a small laugh. “Our children?” She whispered, figuring that was what he had meant to say. He had planned an entire life for them, hadn’t he? And yet she didn’t know how to make it possible; at least in a situation like this. “How many children, beloved? Were they gifted with eyes as beautiful as yours?” She whispered, gently brushing the back of her hand against his cheek as tears rolled down her own. “I-I don’t know, my love. I-I was scared and desperate and s-so selfish. No, I could never leave you. I visited you every night, held you when I had the chance…”
“Mount Latmus,” Endymion repeated. “But I haven’t been to my home in…” If anything would put a stopper on the fear flooding him, it was the sight of Selene herself afraid. Gently turning her face back to him, he thumbed the tears away. He had never, not once, seen her cry. What a fool he’d been to take it for granted. Curling his fingers beneath her chin, he pressed a gentle kiss to her lips in the hopes of it silencing her tears. “You are not selfish. You are the purest being in existence–what in the name of the gods would make you think that? And don’t be afraid. I won’t let anything happen to you. Now please, Selene, please tell me. If anyone can make sense of the madness to me–it’s you.”
As usual, Selene couldn’t resist his gentle touch or kiss, easily finding herself returning the small gesture of affection. Maybe she was overreacting, but how could she not? Her actions hadn’t been noble, at least not for the Stainless Queen of the Night. Had she known it would hurt so much to lose him for sleep, she would have never even considered keeping him at rest for eternity. “I... I-I asked Zeus to put you to rest, my love. I-I thought it was the only way you would never leave me, I-... I was terrified, Endymion. I’m so sorry, I should never have asked him to do such a thing.” The goddess whispered desperately, almost as if she was begging him for forgiveness. Slowly, the back of her hand caressed his stubble before her fingers began to comb through his hair, a tear streaming down her cheek. “I thought I would never hear your beautiful voice again...”
“Where else have I ever been…?” Endymion said, more wondering aloud than stating. Why was she so stunned? They were together only yesterday, chasing their children through the forest. Weren’t they? Suddenly it dawned on him that he couldn’t remember any of their faces. “I–don’t understand,” he repeated, nuzzling into the touch, feeling stubble scrape against her skin. Did he not shave yesterday morning? “That–this doesn’t make sense. That’s not po–” he fell silent. Endymion was a hunter desperately in love with the moon. How could he rightfully claim that something was impossible? Now that he thought on it, his voice was light, stretched thin through his dry throat. As if he hadn’t spoken in a very, very long time. He took her hands in his own, a knee-jerk reaction to the fear rising in his veins. “Why–why have I…?”
“I-I... on Mount Latmus, my love. I know you don’t understand, it’s madness. I... P-Perhaps it would be best if we did not try to find a way to explain it.” How was Selene supposed to tell him that she was part of the reason why he had been asleep for so long? Perhaps it had been selfish of her to wish for her one and only to remain asleep so that he would never leave her, but what was she to do? The goddess found herself in love with a mortal, and she couldn’t stand the thought of losing him. Slowly, tears began to form in her light colored eyes, and the moon turned her face away from Endymion’s when he took her hands. “Because I’m selfish. S-Selfish and terrified.” She stuttered, biting down on her lip to keep the tears from rolling down her cheeks.
Endymion allowed himself to fall into her, somewhat amazed at the strength with which her little arms held him. He swayed with her lightly, taking a strand of her silvery hair between his fingers and marveling at it for a moment before placing a kiss to her temple. “I’m here,” he murmured to her, twisting free of her arms to see her face, reading it for clues. Surely it was a joke. Selene and the rest of the gods had strange senses of humor, after all. “I remember only our life together. If this is your way of telling me I sleep in too much–I understand and I’ll strive to do better.”
“You’re here, you really are...” The goddess whispered, allowing a hand to caress his covered chest as her head rested against it, eyes closed while she breathed in and out slowly. Ever since coming to this prison, Selene thought she would never see Endymion again --- let alone see him awake. When he moved away from her embrace, a small and barely audible whine escaped her lips. She didn’t want him to leave her, if anything she wanted to be in his arms for the rest of her days. “What? No, no my love, you don’t understand.” Letting out a deep breath, the short female reached out to cup his cheeks. “You’ve been asleep for decades, my love. I visited you every night before being sent to this place, I... I thought I would never hear your voice again.”
“ pardon my rudeness, ” she called out, eyeing the piece of food the other had in their hands. “ but could i take a small bite out of that ? it looks incredibly tasty. ”
“ hm? oh!! please, have as many bites as you wish.” the goddess offered, smiling gently at the other as she passed the treat to them. “are you hungry? you can have the rest of it if you’d like. ”

“not by much. your moon and i, i’m afraid, are not fond of each other.” eager to wave it away, he beamed at the continued mention of his wife. “yes, i was as shocked as you are. i imagine her presence will help my sleep. spring,” he repeated slowly. “selene–i am going to see spring for the first time…” it was true that he wouldn’t be outside for it, but he would see the birds come home and the blooms change in the garden, all without the expense of losing his beloved. “apollo is wonderful,” hades agreed before giving a humorless smirk. “if i remember correctly, my father regularly mixed up apollo and your helios.” he shrugged. “i have reconnected with someone i never expected to see again. but she is so different in this life–so…not who she used to be. i mean medusa. have you seen her?”
“my moon is fond of all souls, yours is no different. give it time, lord of the underworld.” the goddess spoke kindly, her hand gently moving to pet cerberus’ fur as she kept her gaze on the man. a smile curled up at the very corners of her lips when hades spoke of seeing spring for the first time. see could see the excitement in his eyes, and that made her happy. “spring is beautiful, dear hades. i’ve only seen it a couple of times, but it’s remarkable. in fact, i’ve grown to love all seasons.” she didn’t get to enjoy them when on the moon. letting out a small chuckle, the goddess shrugged a shoulder at the male’s comment. “many do mistaken me and my siblings for others, but it is something i’ve grown accustomed to. medusa? oh, i’m afraid not...”
an entirely leaf-made necklace could be seen touching against the fabric of his shirt, a serious expression painting dionysus’ features entirely as for that was, by all means, an uncommon experience to be a part of; or see, for that matter. it was true the god was more well known for his own antics and liberating personality rather for the other side of the coin of his very own self; and, what some would call, his madness. oh, but how dare they lock him up! as for everything he had to watch, do and be entertained with ( giving such in return, as well ) had now been fulfilled. he needed for more, to seek for more, to feel more. footsteps wandered around the gardens, the tip of his fingers sensing the touch of flowers and leaves, yet he could not help himself but to notice a single sparrow, standing still in all his glory with at the tree in front of him. ‘ you, aphrodite’s animal. ’ bitter toned, he’d soon start speaking to the animal. ‘ WHY am i not able to leave? is this zeus trying to prove a point by trapping me in a goddamn cage?! ’ ah, but his last words were shouted, in clear belief the bird would actually answer to his question. loud toned, he never once cared whether someone could hear them or not.
‘... i’m afraid this lovely creature cannot understand you, dionysus.’ a small, melodic sound of laughter escaped the moon’s lips as she slowly approached the god, hands holding the skirts of her silver toned dress to make sure she wouldn’t step on the hem of the fabric. she had heard the man’s voice -- it would be hard not to considering how he seemed to have shouted the last few words, and part of selene could understand his rage. most of them seemed to be in the same situation. ‘hello.’ the short figure greeted, placing a hand on his shoulder. ‘you will frighten the poor bird if you shout at it.’
