A Horseman’s Hammer. Commission work Very loosely inspired by the beautiful M.538-1956 kept at the Victoria and Albert Museum, but the customer liked dragons, so I went for dragons, and more dragons and then some. Tool steel head with selective hardening. Steel plates over wooden core. All surfaces etched with….dragons. Grip is leather over wood with silver wire. OAL 635 mm, head is 115 mm wide, weight 973 g.

Small life update + another attempt to get back on this website

Hey everyone! I haven’t posted here since October of 2018. I’ve been busy and this site has historically not been a productive use of my time.

I’m working on my PhD now, which I haven’t talked about here before. That’s pretty wild. Life is going really well, but I’ve been prioritizing my art less and less lately and I want to change that. I need the outlet, grad school is stressful.

I’m going to make a concerted effort to push my art production into overdrive and part of that is posting more on social media! So I’m going to try to be around. This will be my main blog for funsies which will be a little less active but hopefully I’ll be around more, and then you can find my art at alexanderbyrde.tumblr.com. I’d started that a long time ago when I was falling away from Tumblr, so it’s outdated, but I’ll get it spruced up soon.

But for those of you who I’ve talked to in the past and lost contact with. Just lettin’ ya know I’m doing really well ^^ See y’all around!
