“A happy reminder to be content with yourself. To give yourself the freedom to be who you genuinely are and find abundance with the life you were graciously given. There are so many good things in your life, and even if you don’t notice them always, they exist, and they are there to make magic with the talents, gifts, and strengths that you were born with. Simply learn to seek the joy you already have within yourself, and your perspective of being will get better.”

How to Get the Most Out of Witchblr
Witchblr is a fantastic place to learn. You have access to loads of free content and a diverse community. These are two things that are hard for witches to find elsewhere! Before I found witchblr I only had whichever blogs I could find through Google and my local library’s one-shelf occult section. That being said, once you’ve looked through all the top-ranking posts and find the same ones coming across your dash again and again, it can start to feel like you’re not getting much out of it. So, how do you get the most out of witchblr?
Refining Your Dash
The dashboard (home page) - where you take in the majority of information! It’s super important to make sure the content coming across your dash is good quality. This is where you’re most likely learning from on witchblr, and as a result it cannot be more essential that you ensure you’re taking in information that is accurate and useful.
The best way to do this is go through the list of people you’re following. Check the following things:
When was the last time they posted? Most blogs will show this when you access their actual blog by clicking on their profile picture (URL should show up as username.tumblr.com). Look at the date stamp on their most recent post. If you can’t see a date stamp, type into the URL bar “username.tumblr.com/archive”. The general rule of thumb I use is that if they haven’t posted in three months, unfollow. This blog is most likely inactive by now. However, if this is one of your favourite blogs or this blog has a habit of periods of inactivity (i.e. taking breaks from Tumblr), it’s obviously completely fine to make an exception.
What do you want out of Tumblr? If you’re mostly here for the memes, with some witchy content on the side, skip this step. If you’re here to learn, give this a shot. Scroll through their recent posts and see how often they post witchcraft content. Is it mostly memes? Political commentary? Fandom posts? If their feed is full of non-witch content, this blog is contributing to clogging up your dash. Be the judge of how much non-witch content you’re okay with seeing, and unfollow accordingly. Keep in mind that the short-and-sweet posts so many of us favour on witchblr aren’t actually the most informative! Long-form posts will usually have more depth, making them more educational. Try to find a balance between the two.
Is their content reliable? This is applicable to both reblogs and posts they’ve made themselves. Read through some of the witch content on their feed. Do they make assumptions without proof to back them up? Do they contribute to stirring unwarranted drama in the community? If they’re making original posts with ideas you’ve never heard of before, check their sources. Is this UPG (unverified personal diagnosis aka information that they figured out themselves)? Great! If they provide their reasoning, or you see the post marked UPG, that’s totally fine. Do they cite their sources or mention the books they’ve read that inspired the post? Also great! Do they have a habit of continuously making statements without any sources, education or reasoning behind them? Not so great. Do they make posts that essentially just regurgitate information you’ve read elsewhere a hundred times? Also not great. Try to make sure you’re following blogs that clearly know what they’re talking about, or that have done their research. Bonus points for following blogs that aren’t complete beginners - I’d say pay special notice to blogs that have been practicing for 5+ years; there’s tons of beginners in the witchblr community so paying attention to those with experience is a good move for reliable info! If they don’t have much experience, do they document their craft? It’s also a good idea to follow blogs that talk about what has/hasn’t worked for them as a witch. This way, you can learn from other people’s mistakes (and successes)!
Now that you’ve reenacted The Purge (2013), it’s time to some shiny new blogs to follow! Personally, to find blogs to follow, I look through my favourite posts that I’ve reblogged. Then, I check out the blog that posted it in the first place. After quickly vetting them with the above steps, I give them a follow! This is a great way to find good blogs, and you’ll often find that they’re still producing quality content. If you’re stuck for somewhere to start, I’m gonna include a list of some recommended blogs:
@hillbillyoracle
@nightshadeandroses
@alienswithbeans
@powerpriestess
@maddiviner
@kitchenwitchtingss
@an-irish-witch
@underworldariel
@thepastelpriestess
@chaoticirce
Actually Using Resources
I used to be one of those people who just hoard Tumblr posts. You know, just reblog everything and be like I’ll read this again later or I’ll use this spell at some point. That’s great if you actually do read it later, or do use the spell. But, most of us don’t. You don’t need to actually try every ritual that comes across your dash, but there’s certainly ways to use the content that you’re seeing more.
Use tags appropriately: Tags are great for organising your blog. You can tag things however you like - by subject, difficulty, how interested you are in it, etc. Whatever system you use, just make sure to stick to it! Tags are pretty useless if you change which ones you use all the time. If you’re looking for inspiration, take a look at how other witchblr’s use their tags. Personally, I tag posts by subject, so that if I’m feeling like doing some kitchen witchcraft, I can just search “kitchen witchcraft” on my blog. I also tag my original posts with “lucipost” (a short, unique tag) to make it easier for me to collate my original content.
Do a grimoire update: By now you’ve probably got lots of good resources archived in your blog. It’s time to come through on your promises of I’ll come back to this later and go through everything you’ve reblogged. Pick out the best quality posts, and the most interesting information, and use it to write new or improved sections in your grimoire in your own words. Don’t forget to add in links or citations (”source: @username on tumblr”) so that when you come back to the information you know where you got it from!
Interacting with the Community
As I mentioned earlier, one of the best parts of witchblr is its wide range of content creators making free resources! You have access to hundred of witches, each with different opinions, cultural backgrounds, values and beliefs. Take advantage of this! It was Socrates who said “I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing”. Learning from other people’s practices is one of the most rewarding and beneficial experiences you can have on witchblr.
Engage with other people: I’m sure you have favourite blogs on witchblr, or people you find really funny (or even really cool - I myself am I victim of Admiring From Afar). Engage with them (and everyone else)! Reply to posts with your thoughts on their ideas. If you try someone’s spell or ritual, snap a quick photo of a part of the process, then post it and tag them in it - let everyone know what changes you made, what worked and what didn’t. It’s this kind of feedback that’s helpful for everyone, and that encourages people to continue sharing their practice! Have something you’re confused about? Need a nudge in the right direction? Send in an ask. Most blogs will love to hear from you. Just remember to say thank you! If you’re in a financial position where you’re able to support content creators through their Patreon (for continuous donations) or Ko-Fi (for one-off tips and thank you’s), I’d highly recommend it. This money compensates them for the time that they spend making resources free (again!! free!! how crazy is that!) and accessible. It gives them more time to keep making the things you love, and allows them to reinvest in their craft. Contributing to Patreon will also usually give you access to more, better quality, resources. It’s a relatively affordable way of investing in your witchcraft education, and the education of others.
Join witchy discords: There’s tons of witchcraft-based discord servers that offer a place for you to have in-depth, engaging discussions with other witches. They’re great when you want to talk an idea through with someone, or even just hear someone else’s opinion. I would especially stress this if you’re a closeted witch, as these servers provide a place for you to find an accepting community. Build connections with the other people on the server, add them on Tumblr and send them posts you think they’d be interested in. Try to remain active on the server, even if it’s just five or ten minutes of conversation a day. If you’re a little shy, try to lurk (just read the chats other people are having) for a few days and slowly start contributing to conversations to build confidence. If you can, join voice chats! Actually hearing the voice of other witches feels kinda crazy sometimes, especially since it’s easy to forget there are real people behind the screen. I genuinely think that this is one of the most important steps if you want to have a more rewarding witchblr experience.
Look out for community events: Discord servers will often run workshops and events that’ll either help you learn more or have fun with the community. For example, the recent TechnoCon 2020 not only featured several panelists talking about a wide range of witchcraft practices, but also dress-up competitions, a group ritual and a charity fundraiser that raised around $1200 for COVID relief! CozyCoven is currently running an energy work workshop throughout the month of May. Even if you can’t attend the event because of timezone differences, someone will usually transcribe or record the workshop/panel if you ask politely, if they weren’t already planning on doing so. I’d also highly recommend making some notes in your grimoire about your experience with the event, what you learnt, and who was responsible for it. Other than educational events, I’ve seen servers do a whole range of things from secret santa gift exchanges to movie nights!
I’m gonna link to a few discord servers here. I’m a member of a few of them, but I’m not really that active anywhere other than Cozy Coven:

Church of Night
Moonseeker’s Nexus
Resting Witch Face
Ashes of Alexandria
Sunflower Cottage
Document Your Journey
This is a short point, but it is an important one. Witchblr is a platform that thrives off engagement, interaction and sharing. If you’re in a position to be educating other people (I’m gonna say a minimum of one year of practicing, although it really should be more), make posts! Talk about what you’ve learnt. If you’re newer to this, share your experiences. Use witchblr as a diary to document things some of the things you’ve tried - other people might find it useful! Obviously, only share what you’re comfortable with. Everyone’s spiritual journey is personal and at times private, so don’t feel the need to overshare.
Witchblr As a Home Base
I think this is a good point to end on. I think of witchblr as a home base: it’s somewhere to start, and somewhere to come back to, but if you want to extend yourself, it’s not somewhere to stay constantly! There’s tons of other witchcraft resources out there: IRL festivals/conventions, books, YouTube, non-Tumblr blogs, etc. It is SO important that you broaden your horizons. Getting diversity in your sources is something academics make sure to do for a reason! Witchblr will always be here for you to come back to, but it’s a good idea to go out on an adventure now and again so that you have something interesting to bring home.

Deep Sleep Spray
What you’ll need:
• Lavender
• Chamomile
• Amethyst
• Water
• Bowl
• Spray bottle
Whether you suffer from insomnia, nightmares, or just nerves before a big day, this deep sleep spray is just what you need. Combine the relaxing power of amethyst, lavender, and chamomile into your bed-time ritual. Amethyst is a tranquil stone with a calming aura making it the best sleep crystal. Lavender and chamomile are both known for their soothing properties that can treat sleep ailments.
Fill a bowl with water and add the lavender, chamomile, and amethyst while setting your intention: that these herbs and crystals will bring you peaceful sleep. Leave the bowl outside under the moonlight for a few hours to charge. Bring the water inside and strain it before pouring it into your spray bottle. Gently mist your pillows before bed and enjoy a good night’s sleep.
This really helped me!! totally recommend you try it if you have trouble sleeping

Interacting With the Fae!
Going along my path of working with the Fair Folk, I have tweaked some of my own guidelines when interacting with them. I had a post about Faery Etiquette that I decided to remove because looking back on it, many of the tips should’ve have been elaborated on so this is my new and improved tips for interacting with faeries.Theses guidelines have come from folklore, books and my own experiences!
Expressing Gratitude
One of the hardest things for beginner fae workers to understand is the rule of not saying “Thank You” to the Fae. There are many theorised reasons why you shouldn’t say this particular phrase because it might be taken as you are being dismissive or you admitting debt to them. Now, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be grateful towards them, instead of quickly saying “thank you”, take your time to express gratitude towards them. One method is to pay back what they have blessed you with! This means setting out an offering of small trinkets, food or drink with the intention of showing gratitude. If you find yourself unable to set aside an offering or you would rather be short and sweet, try rephrasing “Thank you” in other words like “I appreciate this gesture….” or “I’m very grateful for…”
Names
It is best to not tell the Fair Folk your full name and this goes for any spirit. Names hold power and you wouldn’t go around giving just anyone the ability to hold power over you. If you go by a name different than your birth name, I still wouldn’t give them your current name. When they ask for an introduction you can give them a nickname or false name but phrase it so you aren’t technically lying about your name, for example “You may call me *insert new name*”
Honesty and Politeness
Faeries are very different beings from us humans so you should treat them with the utmost respect as to not upset and get yourself into a tricky situation. The Fair Folk are very honest beings and respect the truth so they expect us to be just as honest as they are, so do not lie! There is the belief that fairies cannot lie but it is unsure if that is myth or not. Although the Fae are very honest, they are very skilled at twisting their words and speaking in rhymes so make sure that you do not take everything they say as the straightforward truth. I would not recommend that you try at twisting your words when talking to them because that may get you into some trouble also so it is best that you either speak the truth or keep quiet. Apologies are very important but just like the rule with “Thank you” you shouldn’t say “Sorry”!!This can also be confusing but just show your apology in different way because the phrase can be seen as lazy or dismissive so try setting out an offering to appease them.
Visiting their Realm
If you find yourself visiting the Faerie Realm, always err on the side of caution!!!! This goes for any spirit or astral work! You are stepping into a land that is unknown to you and has many of it’s own rules and customs. Take the countries of our own realm for example, North American countries are very different when it comes to countries in Europe or Asia and it is expected when you visit a different country you try to learn and follow those customs to be polite. Be polite and respectful of the beings that live there but also be cautious of their intentions. Fae workers must realize that not all fae have good intentions but then again not all fae are malicious so be wary when interacting! When visiting have your spirit guides or a trusted fairy guide you through the realm so you don’t get into trouble.
Food & Gifts
Many old folk tales describing interactions with the fair folk often warn against the consumption of food in the spirit realm. For example in the story of Hades and Persephone the pomegranate Persephone eats ties her to the Underworld or in Japanese legend the goddess, Izanami was trapped in the Underworld because she had consumed the food there. Folk tales from the British Isles say that the food of the Faerie realm tastes heavenly but is often enchanted so that whoever would eat it would be placed in a trance. But who knows if these tales are true so as I said before, always be cautious with faeries. Morgan Daimler states in her book Fairycraft, that “When in the Irish Otherworld it is a bad idea to eat or drink anything, and if its offered to you find a way to very politely decline; on the hand if in one of the Norse Fairy Worlds- ljiossalfheim or svartalfheim, for example-i t is acceptable to take food and drink and is worse to refuse than accept it. Should you be in a Fairy world that is not Norse or Celtic try to learn the expected customs first..” (Daimler, 2016)
Fairy Gifts are a very tricky subject I find but here is how I go about it! Trust your intuition when accepting gifts! Declining gifts from the Fae can be considered disrespectful to them so if you receiving a gift from a trusted faery then accept but if you are unsure about the side effects of accepting then either kindly decline or accept it and cleanse the gift. Just be wary that the faery may expect something in return for the gift so be prepared to give them an offering.

just a quick thought, but something that always makes me feel more aligned is that my sign is always (at least in anything i see) aquiated to Hecate. like literally anything i see she is my godess and it just encourages me that i’m on the right track. maybe she is my diety i’m not sure but the connection i have continuously had is not a coincidence. any advice is appreciated!
Hey there, witches! Spring is coming
Here are some tips for the season:
- spring for me is all about waking up and planning ahead for the next half year. Spring is slowly getting up, stretching and being excited for what is to come, so
- get yourself motivated. Think of all the things you want to do within the next weeks and months and if you don’t have any plans yet, make some! The bees are starting their work again, and so should we :)
- update your calender. Look up birthdays, transitions of planets that might influence you, vacations, deadlines, get that stuff written down. If you have a big garden, look up when to plant what
- if you have any long term wards, renew them!
- clean, clean, clean! If a full house cleaning seems like too much, break it down and start small. Change your sheets, open the windows and get the air circulating. Clean out your fridge. Take on one shelf, or one side of the closet. But get started, and I promise you, you will feel so good every time you look at your accomplishments
- and cleanse, cleanse, cleanse!
- if your room is still full with that heavy, sleepy winter energy, do something about it. Let in the spring air in the morning and get the energies flowing. Stirr it up however you feel works best. I love me some harmoneous bells (which I feel wake me up as well), burning incense, any kind of jazz like music, but you do you! If you wanna smash some pots together, do so
- this includes throwing things out. Especially during the colder times we tend to hoard, and while there is nothing wrong with this, there might be things you do not need (anymore). Give away what you can and throw away the rest to make space for something new! Holding onto things that no longer serve a purpose attracts heavy, lazy energies
- get in touch with nature. As you feel nature waking up and slowly blossoming, you will too. If you can, spend time with children and animals
- get a seasonal calender that provides you with info on what plants grow when
- to make a spring wish come true - take some organic paper and a coal pensil or a paint made from ashes, and write your wish down. Be specific and friendly. Place seeds in the middle of the paper over the writing, and fold it all up. In the early morning hours, but before dawn, bury it in fertile grounds. Dig the hole with your hands (make sure not to cut yourself on anything) and as you close the hole again, ask the forces that awaken nature to bring energy and life to your wish as well
- if you are not on a set schedule, take a few days to wake up with the sun, or generally wake up a bit earlier every day, and reflect on the passing of time from dawn to the sun being all the way up
- look up what local products you can buy and how to live more ecologically responsible to honor nature, small but steady steps, remember!
- take time to meditate about who you are and who you will be this year. If there is any anger or fears within you that might hold you back from living your best life, let go of it now. During winter, we take the time to look within. Choose now what parts of yourself you want to show the world
- connect and reconnect with others. after the time of isolation comes the time of connection - share your love and your joy with your dear ones to fortify it
- make sure to clean your shoes from old dirt. As you clean them, imagine brushing off all negativity and all hindrances that might appear. You want to walk new places in the new year and not drag the past with you. Also you will have clean shoes and feel much nicer when you wear them
- spring is a great time to rewire your brain and your thought patterns to be more positive :) Each time you see a blooming flower or a new bud on an old tree or a young animal, think a positive thought about yourself or others
Most importanty: the morining stets the tone for the day, and spring sets the tone for the year. Show the universe you are ready for a wonderful year full of love and happiness. Make plans and stick with them. Send as many good vibes out there and get your vibration as high as possible. By all means, there is no need to over-do it and for godeness sake don’t compare yourself to others. Small and steady steps in the right direction will be all that is needed.
I am rooting for you
Bath Magic: Where to Begin
Hey y'all, C here. Today we’ll be talking in depth about the practice of bath magic.
If you look around most traditional parts of the magical community, you’ll notice that bathing for ritual work or spell work is a fairly common practice. So what do I mean when I say that I specialize in bath magic? For me, bathing and witchcraft go hand in hand, and I do a ritual in the bath once a month at the very least. I’ve always loved the serenity and focus (not to mention complete selfishness) of taking baths, and so as I’ve grown into my craft it seemed like a natural place to draw magical energy. I find that the hot temperature of the water makes it very easy for me to get to a trance-like state (if not outright do trance work) and being naked in the water gives me a great place of vulnerability and rawness to begin any kind of spell work. T and I also use bathing in our shared craft to begin most of our major rituals, and that entails doing a cleansing bath with a special kind of locally made bath salts that we have been using since the very beginning.
So what do my bath spells usually look like? To be honest, they vary a lot based on my resources at any given moment and the purpose of the spell. There are some things that I do every time such as:
• dedicating the bath for myself by placing a talisman or crystal (or other object I carry a lot/feel represents me) on the rim of the tub
• placing candles (often in corresponding magical colors and scents) around the tub and bathroom to add to the magical energy of the space
• making sure the water drawn is hot enough to remain warm for 40+ minutes and get me to a trancing state but not too hot as to burn my skin or make it uncomfortable for me to be in the water
I also put something into the water every time I do bath magic, and in fact that is where I believe most of the magical intent is decided. This also widely varies with the type of spell. Some things I’ve done are:
• just throw in a handful of Epsom salts for a super basic cleansing. I also use these (in addition to some other ingredients) when I’m doing a real trance or astral travel or trying to communicate with a deity because they make me feel floatier in the water and therefore easier to forget my body
• put in a few drops of different kinds of essential oils based on their magical associations
• drop in some tea bags (like mint or chamomile or bags I’ve already used first for drinking) while the water is running to get a good infusion
• use bath salts that already have essential oils or herbs (or even glitter!) in the mixture. I use bath salts that I make myself, that T makes for me, and store bought and locally made mixtures, all with good results. It all depends on what I’m feeling at the time.
• use pre-made bath bombs, melts, and bubblers from Lush (although I’m sure one could use stuff like this from anywhere) based on the ingredients and names of the products. I’ve used Sex Bomb for a glamour and sex spell, Space Girl for glamour and deity exploration (I do a lot of glamours), etc.
The practice of bath magic is great because we live in a society where bathing itself is so culturally charged to be reflective and purposeful. For that reason, it is also a great way to practice your craft that is not suspicious, or questioned by people you may live with. Even at their worst, taking long baths appears only over-indulgent. But I can live with that.
