I'm planning on posting 1 chapter a week on Wattpad and AO3 for now and we'll see how that goes. Some chapters are so long I don't think I should post it here, so I'll just be posting about updates! I will be updating Wattpad and AO3 at the same time so there shouldn't be a discrepancy between them. This is my first time using both.

this shot. this shot of caine stepping up onto the exit doorframe, just before he looks up all his humans.

it gets me, because they animated in the tiniest little hesitation. like for just a moment- caine was going to step through the doorway, instead of stopping in it.

maybe this really is an exit. maybe, if caine had stepped through- he would've been free. he would've been uploaded onto the internet, and gotten to peruse it forever, instead of that brief little window of time.

he adores the macroverse. he's obsessed with it throughout the show; and obsessed with the idea of breaking out of the 'box' he's trapped in. he could abandon all his humans right now, go out there, and be free forever.

but he chooses to stay. even though he's unsure if his humans will ever trust him again. he was made to keep them happy and healthy and alive, and even though he's failed so spectacularly at that, he chooses to try again. he gathers information solely for them, and lets his link to the macroverse slip away from him.

he knows they can never leave, so he willingly locks himself in this cage with them.

The last chapter I published was "Convincing Caine". In recap, Millie is trying to convince Caine to escape with her, and he is trying to stop her from discovering she's a mind file and abstracting.

Now we can get into the real meat and bones of this story, where they have a harder and harder time lying to each other.

I'm so excited for y'all to see Caine and Millie have trust issues with Kinger by the end of this story! Maybe I'll start posting ahead of schedule because I NEED TO TALK ABOUT THIS

And things are getting a lot more cringe now that Millie accepts that she's in love with Caine

The dynamic of Jax and Millie:

They don't like each other. They're not friends. They hang out together because they don't trust each other and they both know that the other person could seriously ruin other people's lives.

All three are manipulative and that's why Millie hangs out with them.

Jax bullies people to get what he wants.

Caine keeps secrets and tries to force people to do what he wants.

Millie knows how to trick people into doing what she wants.

Honestly that song You Are Glass could pretty accurately describe Millie/Jax and Millie/Caine.

In the end, they're all controlling in this story and they need to be taught a lesson. 😏

Of course I have to do that. I keep myself awake at night imagining their punishments.

Okay so I know I planned on ending the Millie x Caine fanfic after all the parts come out BUT I may be making a sequel because I really need to write about them being a happy married couple while he works through his abandonment issues without her hyperfixating on the exit

Thoughts about Caine's sexuality post:

So I really thought that he was asexual for the course of the entire show, until that one post Alex Rochon made about him and the Moon. I know that probably isn't "canon" but it did get me thinking.

The reason why Caine doesn't have any thoughts about that kind of thing is because anything he doesn't want to think about he puts in Bubble. Any intrusive, dirty thoughts are there so he doesn't have to deal with working through them and feeling gross and defective.

When he and Bubble are in the Void, Bubble is just a mirror. Goose confirmed he was not the other AI.

Also the reason why Bubble never comes back is because Caine is at peace with himself, according to Alex, I believe. If that's not what he said you can correct me.

Now that Caine doesn't need a container for any thoughts he deems unworthy of him to have since he's not being so hard on himself anymore, he has to deal with those thoughts. That means aggressive, dirty, intrusive ones that he's been avoiding. Even though he's at peace with himself more, it's still going to take some getting used to having all that back in his head, and he'll probably have a lot of moments of self-hatred again while he's dealing with it.

Anyway, those are my thoughts, might be something fun to explore as a content creator lol.

Aftermath of a long and deserved crying session . Complex feelings and emotional regulation are foreign to him, but the more he spends with the cast, the more he experiences “malfunctions” with unrestrained emotional outbursts .

Artist note: this is not intended to be showtime. I am a huge fan of platonic and intimate friendships and that’s how i see the dynamics for most of the cast except canon and implied canon relationships. I don’t mind if people want to interpret this as ship art as people can ship whatever they want and i respect that, but this is just my take on their friendship as they grow closer. Pls be respectful to each other. Thank you!

I love the idea of them being close enough friends to just lie in bed together in the middle of the night and talk. I always liked that trope more than the ship ones, in any fandom tbh. Sure I do ship the pairings sometimes, but I feel like it's more special for Caine to have a platonic friend that he's super close to like that. ❤️💙

Also, loved this comic!! It was so sweet and angsty lol my favorite. I really enjoyed seeing all the art that came from that merch ad, especially this one.
