Fran Fineās Outfits: ANIMAL PRINT
i know thereās more than this out there but it really is incredible that people will look at a fictional character someone else wrote and collectively sayĀ āI will write you a hundred happy endings.ā
I know Iām about twenty-five years too late, but I finally sat down to watch some episodes of The Nanny and likeā¦that show was off the fucking rails. In the first season, one of the kids, Grace, has a therapist who is helping her deal with the loss of her mom (normalizing therapy? in theĀ ā90s? we love to see it) and the kid has an imaginary friend, Imogene.Ā Then Imogene dies because apparently sheās the size of Thumbelina and she sits on a cookie which Fran then eats.Ā
So then Fran has to spit out the imaginary friend and she and the dad do elaborate CPR that is ultimately unsuccessful. The kid looks at Fran and goesĀ āyou killed her!ā as though it wasnāt her imagination that did the deed. They then have a funeral for the imaginary friend and Grace insists that she be buried in one of Franās shoe boxes WITH the shoes that came with it (which were crazy expensive) and somehow nobody calls bullshit on this wealthy kid stealing shoes from her poor nanny.Ā
They end up visiting the therapist, who offers Fran a selection of cookies because I guess she likes to troll people and Fran is likeĀ ālol not falling for that againā. The therapist finally gets Grace to admit that Fran didnāt kill the friend, but that Grace herself didnāt really need Imogene anymore and wanted her gone, whichā¦we all been knew. And look, I know Grace is just a little girl and all, but likeā¦imagine youāre a Jew from Queens hired to watch a bunch of WASPy kids whose father has all the emotional availability of a wet sock and you give them all of your time and love and devotion, and you bring endless excitement and fun into their lives, and then one of them turns around and deadass frames you for murder. Smh.Ā Ā

Iām upset because I want to change the world but the world is too big and people are too mean
