This post is about my Resident Evil oc Leah Ashford and her relationship with Leon Kennedy (he's vaguely mentioned as he/him).
Time set is RE Vendetta - RE Death Island so Leah's age is around 40 years (partly mentioned post!RE9 where Leah is 50+ years old and finally has more free time)
1. What's your OC's favorite cuddling position?
Thinks she's fine with back-to-back but always ends up in a face-to-face embrace or being a little spoon (she gets cold and unconsciously seeks warmth).
2. What's their favorite comfort food that they eat when they're sad?
Sweet and sour Chinese takeout. Though actually she tends to skip meals when being really stressed or mentally unstable.
3. What's a secret passion of theirs?
(Not per se a secret because she doesn't hide it from anyone… But then again, she doesn't talk about it either.)
She likes watching soap operas when she's tired and has enough free time, especially Desperate Housewives.
4. What's an item that is deeply important and special to them? What makes it so special?
Doesn't get attached to physical things easily, but if she really has to choose...
Her Ducati motorbike — she earned money through hard work, chose it thoughtfully, and now takes really good care of it.
Her combat knife — a reminder of how her road of hardships had started, of how much she had overcome to become the woman she is (see more in question 16).
Post!RE9 — her wedding ring for obvious reasons.
5. Do they have any collections?
Scars and trauma, as she would say herself. Though she has a pretty impressive collection of vinyl records.
6. What does their laugh sound like?
Usually it's just a low chuckle, though she might snort loudly at an unexpectedly stupid joke. When she was younger, she definitely laughed more.
("There's nothing to laugh about in my life")
7. If they were in a book, how would they describe themselves?
"When I was young I used to believe in justice – the justice brought by the hands of a man and some kind of higher justice as well. But years proved me wrong; there is only injustice that drives you into the pit of desperation and misery. So why do I keep fighting? Surely not for the greater future. I just don't know how to do anything but survive anymore."
8. If they were in a book how would they be described by others/ the narrator?
"A tall, capable, and independent woman. The kind that men call "crazy bitch" for no other reason than fear. But if you bother to look close enough, you'll find her to be a maddening, contradictory mess of feelings."
9. What's something they will never fail to get excited over?
Karaoke! A very rare occasion to happen, but she really enjoys it a lot. Also motorcycle racing in and out of work.
10. How many pillows do they sleep with?
Nothing special — two standard pillows 50x70
11. What's their favorite thing that their partner (if they have one) has ever said to them?
"They'll know you're my equal before they know your name."
(Said as a reaction to her jealousy and insecurity)
12. What's the sweetest thing they've ever said to their partner (if they have one)?
"I want you… the good, the bad, and the ugly... Because our broken edges do actually fit together."
(Her way of saying "I love you")
13. What's the most memorable compliment they've ever been given?
In truth, she doesn't like compliments, especially ones about her looks. She's been called "hot" and "sexy" too many times to know that usually "bitch" and "whore" are following right behind.
She likes when her abilities as an agent are appreciated, but only if it doesn't end up with some derogatory stuff like "You're really good at this.. for a woman."
So what did actually get her? An awfully stupid "You're the most gorgeous pain in the ass that I've ever met in my life."
14. What's something they unashamedly adore?
Depeche Mode!! Flip phones (she even bought a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold when cell flip phones became too old), cherry smell and taste, leopard print
15. What (kind of or specific) outfit do they feel most comfortable with?
Flared jeans, a vest (jeans/leather/suit), occasionally a shirt (depends on weather and occasion), and leather boots without or on low heels
16. Do they have a "lucky" item?
There are a few things, even if she doesn't call them lucky directly
A "lucky" combat knife that saved her life more than once. It's old and nothing really special, but its handle was sodden with hers and his blood.
A "lucky" lighter she always has on her. A sentimental gift that costs barely a couple of bucks. It might be stupid, but the sight of fire calms her.
A "lucky" vest she wears to official events, the one that really makes her look serious. She's not "just a woman"; she's a power to be reckoned with. She won't give them pleasure to look down at her or shamelessly ogle her form.
17. What's their sleeping position when they're on their own?
On the big bed — lying diagonally on her back with her head slightly tilted to the side
On the couch — cuddled up to herself in a fetal pose
18. What's their favorite scent?
Gasoline, smoke (not tobacco), cherry
His smell (wood smoke with vanilla perfume or sandalwood aftershave)
19. What's their favorite texture?
Cool solid things — leather like steering wheel, steel like gun or knife, glass with a drink
20. What's something they do absentmindedly that their partner (if they have one) finds adorable?
Bites on her bottom lip when nervous, fidgets with her jewelry or keychains when impatient or bored. She also hums a tune or sings along with the radio while driving
21. What's their dream date like?
Not exactly a 100% dream date, more like a silly unfulfilled idea. She always wanted to have a "normal" cheesy date, something teenagers and young adults have in rom-coms.
She's prettily dressed, maybe even in a skirt and with makeup; he's sober, properly looking, and in a good mood. They're in a small café sharing milkshakes and desserts and not even a drop of alcohol. Just one time like that would be enough...
22. Do they have a best friend? If so who is it?
Claire!! Despite the age difference, they have a lot of common interests and pretty matching characters.
23. Do they like having their hair played with?
Yes, very much actually, but only by one person. He can play with it, braid it however he wants, and even tug and pull on it, but not hard enough to be painful.
24. What's their favorite (non-sexual) place to be kissed?
The scar on her lip, her knuckles, and her shoulders, in the exact order. She also likes attention to her different scars or bruises, but she never asks for it
Scar on her lip is for quiet, intimate moments; no audience wanted. Knuckles are for the public and most common. Shoulder kisses are either getting heated very quickly or are the way to comfort her without words.
25. What's their favorite place to kiss their partner?
Jawline, closed eyelids… and whatever scars he's willing to let her kiss. Post!RE9 — scars and remaining marks on his hand and neck.
26. What do they love about their friends?
Patience and understanding are important more than anything! Bonding over traumatic experiences and shared interests plays its role as well.
27. What's their favorite childhood memory?
Summer holidays 14 years old Leah spent with her grandmother. She was a very rebellious girl with a dream of becoming a rock star. Leah's always busy parents got tired of her tantrums, but her grandma.. oh, her badass grandma adored the girl and even taught her to shoot a hunting rifle.
28. What makes them feel safe?
Not many things, really; she's not actually paranoid but very close to it ("I'm not paranoid, alright?")
Tactical advantage, gun loaded and steady in her hand, knowing he's watching her back.
29. What's the cutest thing their pet does (if they have one)?
Sadly, she doesn't have one
Post!RE9 — They both had finally emotionally grown enough to have a pet and so got a stray calico cat (they named it Whiskey). Used to the danger of living in the streets, so it keeps listening to the tiniest of sounds and stares at people, especially strangers. (Sometimes Leah wakes up in the middle of the night only to find Whiskey staring at her).
Also, it likes to nap and is simply immovable (the classic "Guess I'll skip work today, my cat is sleeping on my lap").
30. What's their favorite animal?
Cats of any size and colour! Domestic and wild ones, especially the Panthera genus
31. If they could have any pet, what would it be?
Stray cat, probably several. Might also consider a big dog (more likely a golden retriever)
32. What's their favorite thing to do with their partner?
Going out for drinks or having sex would be a simple… but not exactly true answer. "Just spending time together" is something Leah would say, and it's far less sappy than the actual answer.
Dancing. As simple as it sounds, she's a huge sucker for dancing. Hers their half-empty apartment, dim light from the night city outside the panoramic windows, quiet music from her vinyl record player (Depeche Mode. Two of three times it's Depeche Mode)
There's no actual dancing moves, just two bodies swaying together.
33. What's their favorite room in their home (if they have one)?
Her flat is half empty and barely lived in since she's always on the move, so she doesn't really have a favorite room.
She spends a lot of time in the living room, but this hardly makes it her favorite.
34. What do they taste like when kissed?
First answer — cherry. Cherry cola, cherry lipgloss, little cherry candies
On the second thought — alcohol if she was drinking. Tequila, whiskey, and spiced rum.. might be a cocktail
And sometimes — iron sting of blood
35. What do they smell like?
Motor oil and gasoline (she fixes her vehicles herself), natural body smell (sweat but not the stinky kind), and a hint of alcohol. On good days — cherry perfume; on bad days — DSO-issued sanitizer
