Project 1 Statement of Intent
The pictograms serve to represent a set of four diverse animals with varying characteristics and body types while unifying them through an appealing visual system. By constraining the general shape of each animals into that of a circle and heavily simplifying their identifying characteristics, the four animals fit into an instantly apparent visual style without sacrificing individuality. Other design choices further unify the pieces such as making their shapes solid black, use of negative space to create the animalsâ distinct features/patterns, and the identical size of the eyes, with placement varying to maintain relative anatomical accuracy (although they remain stylized as small, simple circles).

Raaka by Andrea Trabucco-Campos and Simon Blockley.
A couple of weeks ago, Pantone made a splash by announcing its pick of âLiving Coralâ as Color of the Year for 2019:
Fer CarriĂłn and Rodrigo Bistene of DDB Chicago have done a cool thing to draw attention to the fact that the worldâs coral reefs are scarcely âLivingâ at the moment. Theyâre now all either dead or dying. Amazing work.
