My brain is just going everywhere with Agatha right now, (It’s probably because I’m deprived of writing her), so here take a post of my various headcanons.

- Wormwood’s Academy was def a reformatory school for evil witches/wizards (referencing my earlier ideas & cass’s idea)  this is what really broke her and shaped the path she took up until being sealed into the portrait with Gullet.

- Agatha could’ve turned out like Miss Honey if she had embraced kindness.

- Her time at school was actual hell. She was probably disciplined excessively for stepping out of line which means she suppressed herself for years. I think Ada wouldn’t recognize her upon return but I can see this as a reason for her co-leading Cackle’s with her. Perhaps she was so disciplined and kept herself like that for years despite slowly breaking?

TWW and covens

Thank goodness Mildred finally pointed out to the younger girls in the most recent episode that they could just form their own coven instead of trying to get back into their old one. Sometimes you really do need input from Captain Obvious. 

But on the subject of covens, if you join a coven in your second year of school, then what happened to Hecate’s coven? She didn’t seem to have many friends at school when she was still Joy; did her original coven kick her out because of her multiple violations of the Witches’ Code? Were they told by the teachers at the time to do it, or was it their own idea? If she became friends with Pippa and joined Pippa’s coven later, after the Indigo fiasco, she obviously didn’t stay part of it because she hadn’t seen Pippa in 30 years (and she couldn’t have participated in coven meetings after everyone else left school, anyway, unless they conferenced her in by magic mirror or had all the meetings at Cackle’s). I can’t remember if she talked about her own coven in ‘The First Witch,’ just that the teachers as a group explained how important a coven is for a witch. 

(also, if you enjoy sadness, imagine the meeting where Joy/Hecate’s original coven tells her that they’re putting her out and she’s on her own henceforth. I think a lot of us had that moment at school where our friend group turned on us, only in Hecate’s case she would have believed she deserved it)

Soporific dark draws her heartbeat, finally, to slow, her thudding chest and the roar of her ears receding until she’s born afresh to hear - her own breath, the muted clock, with every shift hollow wood resounding and the slithering rattle of mesh. (Low Amelia and piercing Constance safely separate and absorbed.)

Tap, tap (sound, sound) - fingers against backboard to hear that hollow the richest, then splutter crackle whoosh, exercise books splay, pens clack against pens and that buzzing xylophone ripple of conductor stick against mesh, and -

Light invades - “What are you doing?”

She glares, yanks the door shut, and resumes.
