Poppy: What is something your character wants to forget?

There was a small chunk of time when Baekhyun was sixteen and he decided to go for the goth aesthetic, heavy eyeliner and all. Let’s just say that the pictures aren’t pretty and every time he sees one, a piece of his soul dies and repressed memories of nights spent writing angst filled poetry and listening to ‘I’m not Okay’ by MCR on repeat, make their way to the surface.

As far as Baekhyun remembers, he was never sixteen. That year doesn’t exist, completely blocked from his mind.

Yarrow: What would your character go to war over?

Family. It’s as simple as that really; anyone that he considers family/extremely close, he’d do anything for. Loyalty means a lot to Baekhyun and if someone were to hurt what he loves, he’d definitely retaliate with force.

Jasmine: Whats one thing your character wants?

One thing that Baekhyun really wants is the chance to meet his biological mother one day. More so to sate his curiosity than for a sentimental reunion. At twenty (soon to be twenty one) years of age, the male figures that he’s in the right sort of headspace to meet her because he no longer harbors any feelings of bitterness due to her not raising him (not that it was a particularly strong feeling to begin with). It’s just one of those things that nag at the back of his mind and for the sake of closure, he knows that he wont get it unless he meets his mother.

Love-lies-bleeding: Has your character ever done something even though they didn’t want to?

There are all sorts of things that people have to do, even if they don’t want to. Simple little things like washing clothes, making your bed, exercising and going to class (sometimes). However, it’s not these little things that come to mind nor does he put up much of a fight against doing, but rather a particular friendship that came to an end after his second year at Caelum. Baekhyun had dug his heels in, refused to do the right thing for so long until eventually what had started as a promising friendship, turned sour and the male had to distance himself. Slowly but surely, he began to avoid his friend (despite it meaning that he now had to make new friends), moving from group to group and always doing his best to not bump into a particular toothy grin third year; Park Chanyeol. 

TL;DR: Baekhyun feels like a jerk for basically running away from someone who needed him even though in the long term, it was what was best for the two of them.

Jonquil: Has your character ever confessed their love for someone? How did it go? 

Nope! Baekhyun is the type that prefers to longingly stare from afar and treat the person he likes exactly as he treats his friends- 

Like dirt.

Often, he’s too busy teasing them and anyone else in the room for the person in question to realize that Baekhyun actually likes them in a somewhat romantic way. Also, he’s lazy and un-creative when it comes to romance (just the thought of writing a love letter or giving someone something for Valentine’s day gets him stomach churning) and as such, just silently hopes the other makes the first move.

TL;DR: He doesn’t do ‘confessions’- He likes to receive them instead. c;

Edelweiss: Describe a time your character has had to be brave.

Truthfully, I don’t think Baek has had a specifically ‘brave’ moment. Bravery is often made out to be a grand, courageous act so it’s easy to overshadow the small, every day acts of bravery like simply waking up and facing the day. He isn’t one to back down from a challenge and to some, that may seem brave or incredibly stupid- the two adjectives are easily interchangeable in his eyes and rather than focusing on being ‘brave’, he tries to act selflessly. 

Gosh, this is such a wish-washy response lmao. Basically, there has been no defining moment of bravery but more so little moments that happen when faced with challenges. He’s not trying to be a hero- he’s just trying his best to do what’s considered ‘right’ in a situation.

“It’s fine.” He brushed it off with a lazy wave of his hand before he reached for a notebook. “Truth be told, I was kinda late myself. Got caught up in a heated discussion over what Shakespeare play is the best. Someone had the gall to choose Romeo and Juliet- I’m still disgusted at the thought of it.” It was idle chatter but it served its purpose to fill the silence as Baekhyun looked for the page that he wanted. During his lunch break, the fifth year had taken the time to mark out a few pages to go over, figuring that he should at least go into the tutoring session with some idea of what he was doing. “I figured today we could go over a few pages, unless there’s anything in particular that you’re struggling with.”

Flicking through his notebook, the male stopped when he found a page of notes (more specifically, notes he had taken in third year) and slid it across the table to Sooyoung.

“I know that astronomy can be a bit boring and tedious at times and even daunting, especially when you have to look at a page full of notes,” The male began to say as he gestured to his notebook, “-But passing the subject can be easy if you make it interesting. It was probably in my second year when I stumbled upon this spot that’s perfect for stargazing and even though studying is still about as appealing as watching paint dry, it definitely helped that I could find something likable about the subject. I mean, try looking at the stars and not being impressed.”

Oh- Now that he thinks it over, he’d vaguely registered Jongin’s muffled voice whining about being locked out or something of the sorts as Baekhyun had tried to shake off sleep. Scratching at the nape of his neck, Baekhyun sleepily blinks at the younger and nods before murmuring, “Mm, I s’pose you can stay.  You’re lucky I’m such a nice person… God it feels like forever since we shared a room.” Regardless of what he says, the male knew it would be futile really to deny the other considering how only seconds ago, Jongin was pretty much pouting and doing his damn best to be cute. He’s always been a bit of a push over in that sense- only needing a pout and maybe a flutter of the eyelashes to get him to cave. 

One thing that he most definitely wasn’t a pushover about was his personal space. An entire lifetime of sharing rooms and fighting over comfy beds had instilled a sense of possessiveness over his ‘territory’ and as the older male clears his desk, books now stacked neatly, he shoots Jongin a half-assed glare as he approaches his bed.

“Ground rules: No kicking, no blanket hogging and no snoring. Do any of those and you’ll definitely end up on the stairs. I’ll throw you there myself.” It’s meant to be threatening but with the way the older male soon breaks into a soft grin and promptly flops onto his bed, it’s clear that he’s mostly kidding.

Asides from the snoring and kicking rules.

“Turn off the light.” He says as he gives the other’s thigh a nudge with his foot. Jongin has barely been in his room for five minutes and he’s already ordering him around, easily settling back into the rhythm of affectionately bullying his former roommate. “Please?” He tacks on after a second, just to be nice.

sleepy eyes paired with tussled hair greet any who might pass as shuffling footsteps carry the young man to the stairwell; there’s a note of regret to his slouched posture and the downward curve of his lips and he’s dressed only in sleeping clothing, though he’s effectively forgotten his shoes and the pale tile of pyralis is mercilessly cold on his bare feet, even in the height of summer. such a sight is perhaps not so uncommon wandering the halls, but it’s somewhat more of a surprise at 1:21 in the morning.

fortunately for jongin ( and maybe not so much for those around him ), his predicament is easily solved. he worries not about how the one he’s trying to find will view him in this state; as his former roommate, the other has seen him in such disarray and worse. what does concern him, conversely, is whether his benefactor is still awake at this hour – but he reasons that even if he isn’t, it’s nothing some persistence won’t fix. 

at last, he’s where he sought to be. it’s a little awkward that he’d promised to come see the other’s new single earlier in the term and then, in fairly standard fire zodiac fashion, had gotten swept up in other things and is now only here to finally tour it ( with some luck ) at such an inopportune time and with ulterior motives, but if he dwells on these little incongruencies, he’ll never get anywhere. a fist rises to bang tiredly upon the wooden surface of the door – one, two, three. ❝ baaeek! … baekhyunnie-hyung, it’s nini. ❞ he slumps a little against the door as he waits, pouting at it as though to make it open faster. ❝ please be in, hyung, i locked myself out of my room and the RA isn’t there, and my roommate’s out tonight and won’t answer his phone. and i also want to see your new single. ❞ he waits a few long seconds, shifting from foot to foot restlessly, and knocks again. ❝ baekhyuuunn! ❞

Late night study sessions are never a good idea and really, Baekhyun has done well to make it this late and only have a bit of highlighter smudged on his cheek. No matter how much caffeine he ingests tonight, he knows he’s fighting a losing battle to stay awake as he hunches over textbooks and messily scrawled notes. Fists rub at tired eyes and the male tries his damn best to take in the pink highlighted words before him, squinting and sipping the cold coffee he had made an hour ago. It’s grosser than usual (because let’s face it, unless coffee has sugar in it, it’s never a fun time) and his nose wrinkles in disgust as he downs what’s left. He could’ve gone to make a fresh brew but it’s one if the morning and logic is but a distant memory for his tired and frazzled mind.  

It’d still taste shit anyway.

One, two, three— And Baekhyun’s eyes are finally drooping shut and his body slumps uncomfortably over his books. The peace is momentary for as soon as they close, it feels like only a second later that he’s jolting up in his seat thanks to a distant knocking and from what his sleep addled mind can distinguish, whining.

Sore eyes glare at the digital time displayed on the alarm clock situated on his desk, 1:37 A.M. displayed in proud red letters. He grumbles, clearly disgruntled as he makes his way to the door and wrenches it open with what little energy he has left.          

“Jonggiin- It’s 1:30 in the morning man.“ He drawls the other’s name with clear disappointment, pressing his lips into a thin line. With boxers and an over-sized gym shirt on, Baekhyun knows he must be quite a sight to behold and if it were anyone else, he’d feel self conscious and promptly shut the door. In fact, he might just shut it anyway because why on earth does Jongin feel like now is a good time to visit?

Instead of doing what his heart longs to do, the male steps to the side and wordlessly motions for his friend to come in. “Has anyone told you that you are quite apt at showing up at the most inopportune of times?” Stifling a yawn, he goes to close to his door as he adds a murmured, “Nini, please explain.” and struggles to keep his eyes open.

         “ THE ONLY thing I’m actually excited for this year is the celebration             they’re throwing us for making it through five years of this torture. ”

          JAEHYO MAY or may not have spent the entirety of his summer break           stressing out over the upcoming showcase for fifth years, his over-active           mind reminding him that, in the last five years, the only thing he’d really           been good at was accidentally killing any plants he’d tried to keep in his           room and taking photographs of unsuspecting members of the student           body ( which was honestly a little bit creepy–a fact which his father hadn’t           neglected to remind him of several times while he was home ).  Freaking           out didn’t really help him when it came to preparing his showcase, but it           wasn’t really a light switch he could just flip off, either.

         “ THE SHOWCASE kind of makes me want to dehydrate myself, honestly. ”

“Drown me first please. " Part of him was serious as he groaned at the thought of the inevitable showcase. Baekhyun wasn’t necessarily a pessimist and in fact, could do quite well academically speaking when he put his mind to it (which truthfully, would only happen once in a blue moon). Rather, it was the thought of having to show off what he could do that worried him most and had him burying his face into his palms. 

“You’d think that as a theater kid, I’d love to take a chance to show off in front of people but for some reason, this particular ‘performance’ has my stomach doing flips.” Finally looking up from his own wallowing, Baekhyun sent the other a wry grin. “Not the first male to have performance issues though— nor the last... God I hope the food is good at the celebration. I may just drop out if it’s not. “ He concluded with a short laugh.

yoga day ;; bbh & chy

over the whole length of the day, cho hadn’t been able to wipe a smile off her face. the even that was going to be happened soon had her almost bouncing off the walls the whole day and she was soon ready to see it unfold. as she made her way to the location she looked around to see if she could find the person she was meeting on her way, but there was no luck with that so far.

once she made it to the location, she looked around once more to see if he’d shown up. sitting down on the bench, cho hoped that he wouldn’t back out of the bet. she had certainly won fair and square. letting out a sigh she looked up at the sky. then when she heard footsteps she looked up and the smile was once again back on her face. “yay! you’re actually here!” she exclaimed jumping up from her seat and running over to baekhyun.

Baekhyun wouldn’t consider himself a sore loser but as he slowly pulled his gym shoes on, he couldn’t help but feel a little less than enthusiastic. Having traded in his uniform for sweatpants and a loose shirt with a headband to keep his hair out of his eyes (lord knows where he got it from), all that was in his head were visions of painful looking stretching in too tight pants with Olivia Newton John’s ‘Physical’ as background music. With a shudder, the male finally started to make his way to the agreed meeting spot, water bottle in hand and the echoes of ‘Let’s get physical!’ playing over and over again in his mind as he walked. 

Just as he began to consider backing out of the bet, the girl responsible for his adventure into the world of Yoga was within sight and had, of course, spotted him.

“I am indeed. Nearly didn’t make it but well, I’ve never been one to back out of a promise.” Although he was less than enthused about the whole situation, Cho’s enthusiasm was enough to make him grin (more so in a defeated way but it was a smile nonetheless!), as he added,

“So now that I’m here, what's first? Upward facing dog or?”

Silence is a beautiful thing to someone whom is always surrounded by noise. It was to be expected really considering Baekhyun was a part of Pyralis house, fire elementals not exactly known for being quiet and collected. Neither was he for the most part, just as loud and rambunctious as the rest but sometimes one just needed to take a breather in order to properly concentrate. Especially when there was work to be done; i.e. the mostly unread script now clenched in his hand.

When he had happened upon the quiet spot on campus, Baekhyun had been quick to claim a bench to himself and spread out as though he really did own the space. With one earphone in and the gentle croons of some 90’s love song playing, he grabbed out his notebook and pen and began at page one.  The notes he scrawled down ranged from summarizing what was happening in a scene to personal stage directions, occasionally marking things on the script itself. It was by page five when the boy took a momentary pause to reflect on the meaning of a word when something in his peripheral gaze caught his eye and the distinct shutter sound of a camera go off. Normally, he would’ve passed it off as just background noise from his music but the girl standing like a deer caught in headlights only a few meters away with a camera in her hands was definitely attention grabbing.

It took a moment for it to process, just as stunned as he looked back at the female student, eyebrow arched as he pulled his earphone out and watched as she hurriedly approached and bowed, stumbling out some sort of apology. Chin resting on the palm of his hand, all Baekhyun did was silently let her ramble as he looked up at her.

“Not a stalker?” There was a hint of amusement to his tone as a lazy grin soon spread across his lips. “Can’t say I believe you but I guess I’ll take your word for it. If you wanted a picture, you could’ve just asked. I prefer creeper shots to be taken from my left side for future reference.” He teased and his gaze flickered down to the script in front of him before looking back up at the stranger.

“Seeing as you’re such a fan, want to do me a favour? It’ll take like half an hour at most. As fun as reading through a script on my own is, it’s boring and I’d rather be acting it out instead of being hunched over my notebook. There’s a character in here whom I feel you could relate well to—Awkward, sneaks up on people, takes photos of good looking males, all stuff you’re seemingly good at.”

Books cradled to his chest and a bag slung over his shoulder, the male quickened his pace after a glance to the watch on his wrist indicated that time was slipping by and if he were to dawdle, he’d be late to his own tutoring session. Tutoring so far had gone fairly well considering he’d never been the sort to sit another down and make them study and he hoped to keep to keep it that way. It’d hardly be good for his image, he thought, to arrive late when he was meant to be the responsible and helpful adult in the current situation (although Baekhyun wasn’t sure whether or not Sooyoung would mind about his lack of punctuality).  

It was a relief that when the blond walked into the library, Sooyoung was no where to be seen which in turn left him with time to pick out a table and set up. Bag dumped on the floor beside his chair and a few text books splayed out on the wooden table, he idly pressed pen to paper, swirls and other miscellaneous shapes formed by dark blue ink soon filling the blank page of Baekhyun’s notepad.

“Sooyoung!” He called out when he caught sight of the dark haired teen and waved his hand to gain her attention as he flashed a friendly grin and closed his book.
