Underwater garden trialled in Italy
Nemo’s Garden is an experimental project to grow fruit and vegetables underwater, where temperatures are constant, and high amounts of carbon dioxide which allows the plants to grow more rapidly than on land.
The plants get water thanks to the shape of the greenhouse, which allows water to evaporate from the ocean water and into the air pocket inside the greenhouse, where it can replenish the plants.
Under an agreement with the local government, the five greenhouses are allowed to operate between May and September, and they even have their own live webcam - check it out here.
